Battlestar Galactica (Season Four) | KnockBack: The Retro and Nostalgia Podcast Episode 209

The culmination of Sci-Fi's reimagined Battlestar Galactica series is exceptional. Airing between 2008 and 2009 and interrupted by the Writer's Strike, its final season may be one of the greatest runs of programming in television history. Religious, spiritual, scientific, and above all else human, BSG wraps up with a satisfying conclusion that forces us to confront difficult questions about our heroes, villains, and perhaps most of all about ourselves. Humanity versus Cylon is a distraction. It's all about sentience. Choice. And breaking the cycle that, if anything, provides nothing but predictable outcomes. And that, in and of itself, may be unchangeable. A new episode of KnockBack launches each Monday morning. Top 3 show ever created. Can't wait to listen to these

Boots!

Loved the episode with Felix Geata and Tom Zarek taking control of the Galactica and the government. That scene with the Ryan McCaffrey looking fellow standing up to Zarek and telling him "you should go" ...damn!

Unpopular opinion, season 4 is the peak for me. Especially the mutiny arc.

Hey again, Colin, don't hate me but Ron Moore is pretty open about not having any plan for the direction of the series, or an ending, it was pretty serendipitous that some things clicked into place at the end. Like how they always said in the opening "And they have a plan". Then they retconned that in The Plan movie by saying their plan was that they have no plan, which I thought was pretty funny. They didn't even know what "Earth" would be until breaking the final season. Their original ending was the Galactica arrives in present day and the US president nukes the ships and kills them all 😂 One mistake he pointed out was when they came up with the idea for the final 5, they realised they made a mistake because there's only meant to be 12 models, but the Boomer model is model #8, and she's not one of the final 5, so they had to make up a plot how there was originally 13 models and the missing model was one called Daniel, he was discontinued (or boxed) by Cavill, which actually helped the story in the end, it showed how jealousy and petty Cavill is. I always appreciated that even though they winged the story, they were clever enough to work with writing on the fly and make it satisfying.
