Stunning Wizardry | Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast Episode 194

After much waiting, we've finally been treated to a deep-dive into Hogwarts Legacy, the controversial Harry Potter-aligned game slated to launch on PS4 and PS5 later this year. Developed by one-time Disney outfit Avalanche, Hogwarts Legacy is -- in a word -- ambitious. Like, really ambitious. And it looks awesome. So let's discuss. Plus: News! The very Supermassive-2K title we told you was coming on this show a month or two ago, The Quarry, has been announced, while FromSoft's Elden Ring is absolutely obliterating the sales chart. Konami keeps hinting at Silent Hill's comeback, while Dead Space Remake gets a release window, Moss 2 is right around the corner on PSVR, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Is the in-process failure of Microsoft's studio The Initiative a sign of Xbox's inability to manage their teams? Is Square Enix's Tetsuya Nomura overrated? How do we find the recent GTA-related rumors about where the new game may take place? Are we going to institute a No Fly Zone over the Keebler Elves' forest? Whoever made that Nomura comment made me want to choose violence. Nomura did almost no work on FF15 stop crediting him for that mess. He didn't write it, direct it and besides some reused faces and names he didn't do the character designs for it. If you guys want to critique his involvement in the cancelled V13 thats fine but do some research on it first. The one FF game he directed is one of the best reviewed in the series and every main KH game including KH3, which many like to pretend was controversial, has reviewed very well. Really really tired of people attacking this guy and everything he is even remotely involved in for absolutely no reason. He was barely involved FF Origins and he's getting ALL the blame for whatever people don't like about it. If something he's on is good he doesn't deserve the credit. If it's bad? His fault. Please, criticize him but learn about what he's actually done for the Final Fantasy series before bringing him up every now and again just to shit on him. That'll be my one rant of 2022, even if you guys suddenly side with Russia.

IMO Until Dawn was a success BECAUSE it was a PlayStation exclusive. I likely would have ignored it otherwise. Also this better be in actual Upstate NY and not some place just north of the city. GO ‘CUSE 🍊

I don’t agree with a lot some of Jk comments but I love how straight white men can comment on feminist issues or how woman should feel.,when they wouldn’t touch gay or black issues or how they should feel.

Video started at 2:40 after ad. Not if it's the best idea to start the video like that. Love you guys still!

Dustin is right. Those first 2 Taking Back Sunday records are great. Being from the west coast all my life, that emo music scene is how I first heard of Long Island. A lot of great punk/emo bands came from that time and place.

I love your stances on the controversy behind Hogwarts Legacy. Completely agree with you three. The game looks great and Harry Potter as a franchise has nothing to do with trans issues, so why boycott it? Some people just want to get angry and grandstand.

I wanted to piggy back on the listener mail about Astro Bot and how it is important for kids. This is going to be a little long so good luck. That games special ability to introduce kids not only to PlayStation and it's important IP - first and third party - but teach them about it's heritage and history, can not be understated. As a 33 year old who's been into PlayStation since 1998, I recognized almost every little reference, wink and nod, and peripheral in the game. I can almost 100% recreate the layout of the PlayStation Labo room in my house. I have and keep everything ("Never sell hardware" - Colin Moriarty), so for me it was just an amazing nostalgia trip. It wasn't until my 4 year old started playing the game that I realized how special this game is. Everything we'd pass he would ask "What game is this from?" "What was that used for?" "Oh you have that, Daddy!" I play old games in front of my son often, but my son knows certain IP such as Parappa the Rapper, Symphony of the night, Resident Evil, Fat Princess, Horizon: Zero Dawn; and he could tell you the difference between the PS1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 because of this game. He could tell you the PS1 and 2 had a multitap, and the PSone had an LCD attachment, all because of this game. This game is very special, but what it has the ability to do to suck kids into the PlayStation echo system can not be understated. It's still a fun play a year later for a 34 year old man, and a 5 year old boy.

Yes. A lot of people will look for virtually any reason to subject the rest of us to their political, social, and economic whims.

Dylan Manuszak

We have timestamps to skip, yes. It doesn't bother me. I just meant for the new or casual youtube viewer /listener, they may not appreciate the video starting at 2:40. Maybe they click off at that point and we lose a potential LSM fan.

Woah the slander being thrown at The Dark Pictures Anthology is making me heated boys! They’re great games and I feel what you’re saying about not digging Man of Medan at first, neither did I, but once you get what they are they’re really good narratives with twists that I can never see coming

FoxHopSmash

Naughty Dog should do Days Gone 2.
