It's a little slow in the games industry right now, so let's enjoy the quiet. For the first time ever, I (Colin) conducted a mailbag-centric episode using Discord inquiries only. Our Discord, nearing 5,000 strong and made up of all $5+/month LSM Patrons, provides a different flavor of inquiry, but ones still very much in line with our show. Does Sony need to get God of War out in 2022? Will Naughty Dog release a multiplayer-only AAA game? Why don't I like Metal Gear Solid 4? Is Gotham Knights' cancellation on PS4 a sign of things to come? When will we see Infamous return? Click play, PlayStation nerds. You'll be glad you did, for we talk about all of this and more.

Love the casual mailbags 🤙 Happy weekend!

How are we having a “left wing moment” in the US when we are about to reverse roe V wade, Trump was just president, and Biden is barely a liberal lol.

Robert Graham

Wouldn’t we be “closest to the choice” if abortion was left up to individuals? Not states?

Trevor Deal

This isn’t about opinions on abortions. This is about women losing their rights. A woman has already been arrested for having a miscarriage. She went to jail… for a miscarriage. This is beyond opinions and is about much more. The thought my wife could be raped and forced to carry the baby to term makes me sick. This isn’t about opinions. This is a catholic minority forcing their views on a country. The majority support Roe v Wade.

Roe vs. Wade is about whether purported rights comport with the Constitution. How you feel about abortion is another story entirely. (And the majority absolutely don't support a codification of extreme abortion laws, as the polling shows.)

This was a fun listen. I don’t use discord or have any interest in it but It sounds like an easy going place to hold conversations and discussions. I think you nail it on the head regarding people making up their entire personalities based on their political opinions and beliefs. I definitely see some it here in Chicago.

Personal story time. My mom suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder. It’s much like being bipolar but the mood swings happen at a much more rapid pace. Because of this and living in abject poverty my childhood wasn’t the greatest. My brother was diagnosed with cancer at 5 and my mother used him as an attention getter for herself. Going so far as to grift money from people. This left me and my other brother feeling left out and put a rift between us and our brother who had just suffered through cancer and was now had the capacity of a 2 year old. About this time my mother started drinking and turned mean. From the time I was 11 until I moved out at 16 I was both physically and mentally abused by my mother. She would stab me with a fork and hit me with anything she could find and tell me if I ever touched her I would be an abusive piece of shit like my dad(which he never actually did touch her but that’s what I was always told growing up). But the mental abuse was for sure the worst part. Her favorite insults were that I was “a serial killer waiting to happen” because I had no friends with my social issues she caused and lived in a house that put horders to shame. “A waste of my fathers sperm” was also pretty fucked up. I was told weekly that if she had known what kind of kid I was going to be she would have aborted me. All of that is to say my life is fantastic now. I’m a dad to a great little girl. My wife is an amazing woman who also happens to be a doctor. I was able to get custody of my brother and helped him turn his life around. I know this probably isn’t the most fitting place to put this but I’m pro life because of my childhood. I respect those who don’t agree with me but I really hope this might change even one persons mind that not every person who feels the same as I do is automatically evil.

Yeah I'm curious to see if Atomic Heart will even be allowed to release on Xbox/PS. Certainly a lot to consider like you said... I previously had followed the game via their Discord, but they've refrained from posting on there since the invasion... instead posting on "Telegram," which just didn't work on my computer so I haven't bothered to follow-up on it. (Edit - got on there, nothing substantial about release outlook... just some generic 'we love our fans' and 'this game is gonna be great' kinda posts)

Great Sacred plus as always Colin! Sorry to ask it here since I missed the discord poll, but have you ever given your thoughts on the Megaman Zero (GBA) games? That series and a Battle Network game I was too dumb to get as a kid, are the only MM games I have played and it was really important to me as a kid. Thanks as always for the great content!

Considering the decisions made by PlayStation and Xbox not to do business in Russia, combined with various economic embargos and sanctions, I wouldn't be surprised if it's delayed outside of PC.

Bartevious

Wait Colin is libertarian and not pro choice? Confused

Right on. There are certain nuances conservatives just can't grasp, and never will it seems. The stark difference between Liberals and "The Left" being one of them. Another thing many people aren't seeing is that the only side of the abortion debate that respects the other's position is the pro-choice position. To believe that abortion is wrong is perfectly fine and is inherently respected by the pro-choice position. Don't want an abortion? Don't get one. Sally got an abortion? Maybe it was a choice between a baby or her home. But the lesson at the heart of this is that it is Sally's business, and Sally's alone. However, to actively make legal moves in an attempt to ban abortions (or to divvy out authority on whether or not can be banned at all) is inherently disrespectful of the other side. So of course we pro-choicers are angry and upset. This was settled law. But let's regress for the hell of it, why not? Let's allow a bunch of men with perhaps 20 years left on their ticker and little grasp of the public's interests to dismantle necessary healthcare for women for the country's foreseeable future because of...*checks notes*...their opinions While we're at it, let's remove what little required sex education we have in the states? I feel it's important my future nephew has the choice between learning about safe sex or getting some poor girl pregnant before she's eligible to drive. Hey, maybe then she won't have to worry about taking on student debt! She can start working early in life and pull herself up by her bootstraps and earn her family's right to survive like a good American should. That's what respect is all about isn't it? We have to earn it.

Kenneth Oms

Hey Col Acid here, great response. I don’t even bother with scored reviews I go straight to yall or YouTube nowadays. More importantly a big YouTuber called gmanlives did a really great retrospect of Infamous. I hope we get those first two games on ps5

Brian

These are the best, plus I love when Colin dunks on these clowns. LSM truly the most diverse audience going, keep it up!

Noah Friscopp

I really appreciate the sentiment of taking this time to do other things, think I need to do the same right now.

Rich Price

On the whole abortion thing, I don’t see why these business feel the need to make any kind of statement at all (actually I do know why, but it’s nothing to do with their remit as managers of their businesses). The same goes for anything political. I don’t need video games publishers giving me their opinion, I can form my own. However, if you do support them making these kinds of statements when they backup your viewpoint, you have to accept it when they don’t, or are even just neutral. The reaction to Jim Ryan is predictably pathetic. Anyway, keep up the great work Colin!

Ian Hanson

Ur the man Colin, keep going my man

Ian Hanson

Your perspective, thoughtfulness, and honesty are beyond refreshing

TROTMAC96

I'm definitely interested to see if your opinion of MGS4 changes when you play it again for Knockback. Also, you're smocking crack with your opinion on MGS3. Such a great game.

Anthony Palerino

The whole kick it back the states argument never really vibed with me when it comes to rights. We chose when we voted for the “right people” who have failed to codify it after all these opportunities, I don’t see how the states will give women a better shot. Good episode tho!

Fotis Lyto

Hey Collin, since the rest of the year looks like a triple A wasteland, why not have a few spoilercasts for high caliber "indie" games like sifu, trek to yomi or nobody saves the world. I would love to hear about these games. If there is not much to say in one whole episode then you can talk about two games in one.

joefray_

If you ever wanted to hear Colin go all Ivan Drago: 24:07 😂

Glendelman

Personally, I'd love to see a sacred symbols plus about the future of game engines and tools. Something that explains why exactly developers seem to be flocking to unreal engine. Maybe touch on machine learning and AI again and the practical application now that we've gotten things like the GTA remastered trilogy.

Raymond keys

Your trophies from uncharted 4 on ps4 carry over to the Legacy of Thieves collection, I believe.

Pace

Colin you won't be happy about the MGS4 trophies when you see them. I believe you have to beat the game 9 times and do dumb stuff like roll through a doorway 100 times.

Pace

Colin I also grew up on GI Joes. I still have all mine in a few boxes in the garage. I dont know what they're worth but I was going to sell them off some day. I have 50+ action figures with all the accessories in good condition. Some vehicles and other random stuff. If want to pick through them to see if there are any you want just dm me and i'll send pics.

Greg Hommel

I’m not sure why but while playing Gears Of War back in the day, a longtime friend and I opined that we would love to see that style of cover-based shooter reskinned with GI Joe characters. Another idea I had was a more adult oriented version of Skylanders with GI Joe in place of the whimsical animals we all have come to know. I know that was a diabolical cash grab but if the game itself were high quality I would have been in to it. Although I will admit, a side scroller would be more likely to be good.

Sam Lee

I wonder if Sony Pictures would consider making an InFamous film. After all they've been trying to make their own tentpole superhero movie franchise with Spider-Man and Bloodshot with mixed to poor reception. But this is Sony Pictures we're talking about so maybe it's better if they don't. Tom Holland as Cole and Mark Wahlberg as Zeke?

ThePSXcollector

This episode was awesome 😊 Colin thank you for being the voice of common sense.

Kevin Cooper

Oh man, I would donate a major organ to have a Mega Man-esque G.I. Joe game with different Vipers as the Level Select. I can practically see this game in my mind's eye already.

Nathan Densley

Colin went off halfway through and I'm here for it. He has been more measured lately and it was good to hear him cut loose.
