Is It Time to Cancel Xbox Game Pass? | Defining Duke Episode 73

As Cog would say, "the Twitter streets are getting hot!" We have seen the conversation surrounding Xbox turn up to 11 as cooler heads refuse to prevail. Now, many are announcing their exit of Xbox's crown jewel: Game Pass. To make matters more interesting, Xbox Game Pass fanned the flames with a "dunk" on Kotaku bringing to light a potential weakness in their offering. So, joining the zeitgeist, is it truly time to cancel your subscription? The Duke have some thoughts on the matter. To make matters worse for some, it has been confirmed that Xbox turned down an exclusive deal with Marvel to work on their IP. As we know, PlayStation took that ball, ran with it, and now it is a major piece of the pie they offer fans. Is this a decision that Phil and his team regret? Matty and Cog parse through the timeline and get into what transpired here. It's the most powerful console in history, here's your 2d side scroller. Most people play AAA games. I have no issue with them clapping back but when you look at what they said it came off dumb.

Doug, just Doug

Not sure any *current* XBOX studios (or, frankly, any other PS studios) could have pulled off Spider-Man either. Insomniac was and is uniquely qualified to create that game. Match made in heaven.

the dual models 1887's at the beginning of MW2 were the most broken thing ever

Need to clarify my write in lol. When I say we need to pressure them, I mean us as fans. When Atlus asks whether we want their games we need to go out in droves and let them know but I've not seen a large enough crowd of Xbox gamers speak up. I'm not sure these publishers know we want these games. Take Soul Hackers for example. This game needs to sell 2 million on Xbox minimum. (If this doesn't work then we can go with the idea of Phil doing 1v1s with square enix executives)

Gamepass has tons of AAA games and up until a month ago websites were literally writing articles about how on fire Gamepass has been all year. They have one month with no AAA game entered in to the program and all of a sudden it's trash. People are so fickle it's annoying. I personally still could never play all the games I'd like to get to on Gamepass. Do I want Starfield? yes but I'll be just fine waiting a couple more months.

The playstation BC trophy thing is actually really old, they started doing that with the PS2 classics on PS4 back around 2015ish. I have the Platinum trophy for the PS2 game Dark Cloud from back then. The thing that limited it was that someone had to manually add the trophies to the game, which then in turn made it slower for them to add new games to the service on PS4. Cog is right about the PAL thing, they really need to work much better at giving us the games for different regions, not just picking the region that has the biggest language support regardless of if it's a good experience.
