The Activision Deal Is Making PlayStation Desperate | Defining Duke Episode 88

Want to know a fate more painful than being forced to play Yakuza: Like A Dragon and enduring the wrath of the LSM audience? Ask Jim Ryan! Through statements publicly delivered to press outlets, Xbox and PlayStation are trading blows over the status of Call Of Duty and the fulfillment of contracts on PlayStation's end. Indeed, it appears there is a legitimate fear over on PlayStation's side of the fence that Microsoft has been "inadequate" in delivering what is necessary for Call Of Duty to thrive on their platform. The tendrils on this story go deep as we weave through public letters submitted to regulators, previous comments made by both executives, and the blatant hypocrisy. Outside of the console wars realm, head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty has been quite talkative this week. We now have updates on the status of State Of Decay 3, Perfect Dark, and the much anticipated Fable. Mix that in with rumors of AAA TMNT, Tencent sliding deeper into Ubisoft's pocket, and an ill advised tweet by Glenn Schofield and we have ourselves quite the show. Get some Defining Duke merch! Truly is a fanboy podcast now. Almost at colt eastwood levels of delusion. At least we still have sacred

Gaelan K

They’re fans of the brand but they’re not afraid to be critical of it too. Matty and Cog are always giving respect or props to Sony when it’s necessary. I’m not sure what you’re looking for.

Tonys_Always_Write

@KozKarma Lol Matty literally got heat for playing other consoles in this damn episode too 😂😂 Not to mention the heat they dropped on 343 earlier this week? Lol what the heck is this dude on about?

DarkRod99

It looks like you just watched the thumbnail and commented without watching the podcast. 🤦

Bobby Rigo

That’s me at the end! Thanks for answering!! I forgot how much I love the Destiny 2 gameplay, man. RIP to my other hobbies though 🥲

Bobby Rigo

If that’s your logic and you don’t think Sacred is also, you’re delusional my guy.

I am not sure I'd say it is a true Fanboy podcast. However I do think that if the plan is to eventually have 3rd person the podcast would hugely benefit from having a voice that is willing to put forward a perspective outside of the Xbox ecosystem or just from a platform agnostic view. In certain scenarios, when the elements allow, there are instances where it comes across as Xbox Cheerleading, rather than a balanced analysis of the events. The makeup and vibe is definitely different compared to SS, where you have 2/3 of the hosts who voice their perspectives from an agnostic gaming experience, which I find hugely valuable. Just my two cents. Love you all ✌️

Greek Thunder

Yeah, I definitely think it's wild that ANYONE in the industry can compare call of duty to anything Sony has exclusive. Like there is NO comparison. It's like if Sony made Fortnite exclusive or something

PlayStation fans think everything is fanboyism when people praise a non-Sony platform
