Assassin's Greed | Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast Episode 220

Just when you thought mega-publisher Ubisoft finally 'got it' when it came to Assassin's Creed, they went ahead and simultaneously announced three brand-new AC games for console. This is of course a change from their more recent strategy of treating this particular franchise with more care; they now seem fine with potentially running it back into the ground. What's going on at Ubisoft? And what does the future of Assassin's Creed hold? Plus: Trouble may be brewing at Sony second party studio Deviation, Team Ninja's Rise of the Ronin surprises at State of Play, the Yakuza franchise is turning over a new leaf, Babylon's Fall goes bye-bye, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Are we excited about under-the-radar third-person shooter Evil West? How long will AAA games stay at $70 before the price goes up once more? Is the drama around Forspoken's dialogue a sign of rote political and social discourse? Why does Chris keep talking about a clown wearing his father's clothes? Check out our merch! "...so I'm downgrading it to D, just because of the comments" I was like in three seconds on the Patreon page to downgrade my pledge, just because of Dustin....but then I noticed I'm already at the lowest ಥ_ಥ

Just a small correction / possible spoiler regarding crisis core: cloud wasn’t actually ever a member of SOLDIER :)

Chris Evans

Sony doesn't have a prayer of locking up a deal that keeps call of duty on PlayStation in perpetuity. Why on earth would Microsoft give them that kind of power? While Microsoft might choose to keep it on PlayStation for the foreseeable future they're never going to give Sony that kind of power over what they can and can't do with an IP they now own.

I just listened to the end of the podcast on the way home after some work drinks, and I hate to admit I laughed way too much at Tyler's inappropriate write in, and the reactions to it

Caleb Shelton

I am confused at how Microsoft owning Activision is a vertical monopoly since Playstation owns the developer, publishes the game, and owns the only network the game is available for purchase on (until recently with PC). I think the only difference is scale.

About Dustin's Yakuza situation - Yes i'm on series x and I started with Kiwami 1 which runs great 60fsp looks great. then i went to Kiwami 2, and the downgrade to 30 fps was too bad i couldnt do it. But yak 0 runs great 60fps so i'm gonna def play that one.

Greg Dawson

Just like if you're a life long PS owner, it's difficult to switch to Xbox. If you're a lifelong Android user, switching to iphone is equally difficult. It can be done, but why would you?

Zack Fair

Sorry Dustin, you're been very judgemental! I love Assassin's creed games as a franchise but only the old style games

Blake Wall

I was going to say if you want to interview someone from G4 you might be able to Jirard because I think he doesn't dislike you at all I might remember this incorrectly but I think I watch one of his videos and he said something you had talked about but didn't say anything bad and also Chris may be able to contact him but I don't know if he knows him that well

Blake Wall

I think I am wrong I think I am thinking of Alanah Pierce who also used to work at IGN but after they didn't Iike you
