It's time once again for our data-driven miniseries, the Sales Saga! Predicated on Sony's monthly official download lists, the game is simple in premise, but complex to near-absurdity in reality: Guess the 20 most-downloaded PS5 games for, in this case, November. Think it's easy? It truly isn't. The proof? We score October's guesses in this very episode, too! But what we're most excited to reveal is that we've figured out an easy way for you to play along with us and compete both with us and with each other. So, there's no room to talk trash. Put up, or shut up! You can learn more here, and to play, you must be on our Discord. Details within! Enjoy.

Question - do we have confirmation from Xbox or PlayStation these “most downloaded” lists are based entirely on downloads and not massaged or otherwise manipulated to surface games the company wants to promote? I feel a lot of stock gets put into “Top Games” lists on the consoles but I’m sus on their actual validity.

It’s pretty cool, pretty damn cool!

Just Dance may be a better pick than usual. The game is essentially download-only. Even the retail version which is what most Just Dance players will get is just a download voucher in the box, which I believe is counted in the PSN charts.

We discuss this on the show. It's downloads. Otherwise, the list would be all top-grossing games and nothing that costs less-than.

I cannot wait for “The Jumping Quesdilla Turbo” to be number one on the list

With word of Sony cracking down on easy-plat shovelware, you know Colin is over there rubbing his hands, cackling like a super villain. Not even the slimmest chance of Life of Black Tiger 18 fucking up his NPD monthly list.

Dustin was such a beast on this episode, loved it.

Dustin’s research seems to be deeper and more thought out. I’m placing my mortgage on him running away with this within a few months.

This is so much fun. You guys made me do something I thought I can't do anymore: Think.

I’m surprised this doesn’t get as many comments as the main show. Love the idea to play along, I will do just that. As for you guys, I think Dustin is gonna take it again. He seems to have a knack for this. And for your first guest, why not actually have the guy who built the site? He deserves it no? Hope you and the fam have a good Turkey day Col. ❤️

This show is so cool already. I hope someone does the math on actually getting the list 100% correct. It's gotta be near statistically impossible.

I’d be careful putting weight into what you may see or what pops up on PlayStation store. Is Sony is using user data to target games to people based on their buying or playing preferences?

Samuel Zamora

With Chris’ point to buying games when they are cheap when otherwise they wouldn’t be bothered to play. I had no inclination to buy/play Last Of Us Part 2. I saw it for $10 on the PS store and bought it due to the price. I can’t be bothered to play it so it will sit in my backlog.

Hunter

Great podcast. Loving this series.

Trent Piccicacco

Loved the show overall, just thought maybe it’d be better if the picks were slowed down a bit, or more discussion about a few games like sonic at the end was funny and great, it just did feel a bit rushed at times during the show

Ross Stoddart

“Mild consummation? So like, anal?” 🤣🤣🤣
