Gather 'round, nerds: It's time to make graphs and look at numbers. For the uninitiated, The Sacred Sales Saga is a metagame the Sacred crew plays amongst themselves, and Patrons can play along -- the exact same game we do -- at sacredsalessaga.com. The idea? To try and guess the 20 most-downloaded PlayStation 5 games on the PSN from the month before, a chart Sony itself actually releases every 30 days or so. Thus, each episode has us scoring last month's charts (Colin is still losing), and crafting our guesses for the following cycle. So come join us for some mathematical mayhem, and learn a thing or two about our beloved industry along the way.

Absolutely cannot wait to dive into this when I'm wrapping gifts tonight. Thanks for the awesome weekend listening, guys.

“Gather ‘round, nerds.” Say no more - I’m in! Will listen while gaming on my PlayStation® Backbone. (Not an ad).

To the typing comment, I love it. Colin inspired me to get a clickity clack mechanical keyboard for work. The sound is so soothing.

Colin after seeing your pic in the thumbnail, I don’t know what you’ve been doing differently, but you’re aging into a handsome motherfucker. It’s funny cuz I think that about Greg too.

I am a hardcore steelbook collector, Dustin. Not only is it cool to have a solid, firm, not shit-plastic case, but a lot of the times they have amazing full case designs. The Dying Light 2 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon steelbooks are my favorite. Elden Rings' is beautiful, too.

On Tactics Ogre, I think for the game this is all based on PlayStation sales, right? I know personally I got it on Switch and many others did as well. Portable a huge selling point for that game. Star Ocean and Elysian both are PlayStation exclusives. Have to figure that factors in somehow

Brandon Soto

This isn’t for me, but it’s cool to see you excited about something.

Brian Wagers

Loved the episode and concept. Small correction, the combined list didn’t include madden when read aloud by Colin but should have been on there.

NotSkyWalker

This is NOT a correction, Colin said nothing wrong, but I'd like to add on to the "big 4 sports + soccer" conversation... although it might not surprise our Long Islander, Lacrosse has been the fastest *growing* sport in the USA for many years in a row now. It is a truly exhilarating and fun sport, in my biased opinion. I look forward to the day where we might get a AAA NCAA lacrosse game! Cheers and happy holidays friends

This is a fantastic idea Colin, really digging it now everything's ironed out. Will be sure to play among for next month.

I’ll stick with this for a bit, but I just don’t think it’s for me. Plenty of other content on LSM though so hope people enjoy this.

Is it just me, or is the fact that Sonic Frontiers has sold 2.5 million copies so far not that impressive? For a supposedly beloved and iconic mascot character, I kinda was expecting more. Especially since those numbers take into consideration sales across at least four major platforms (Steam, Nintendo, PlayStation, and XBox) 2.5 million would be alot of copies 20 years ago when the market of consumers is smaller. But now I just think it's a mediocre figure for what's supposed to be one of the mascots of gaming.

I like how this show gets you outside of the bubble a little bit and thinking about what everybody will be buying, how circumstance issue purchases etc

Trapgunner

I’m really digging these episodes and might play along. I was happy to see tactics ogre on the npd this month. Someone else also commented but I think its more of an appeal on switch. That’s where I picked it up. Chained echoes looks awesome and I hope it charts. I would also keep an eye out for Sons of the forest if it comes out in February. If I remember correctly the forest stuck around on the charts for a long time. Oh! Keep in mind also crisis core isn’t full price so might help it to sell more than usual.

Return to Monkey Island and A Plague Tale: Requiem both launched on Gamepass. I would think this might have an effect on PlayStation sales when a game is available for “free” on another platforms subscription service. This may be something you guys want to consider when making picks going forward.

Kevin Whiteacre

First comment from me - just wanted to say that I'm enjoying this series & Sacred League immensely. Thanks to the 3 guys and those behind the scenes for all the work you do. Makes my office job a little more bearable knowing I have this all to listen to. Have a good Christmas to everyone at LSM.

Jack Sibert

I get that- but it still just seems unimpressive given the immense multimedia presence Sonic has had for several decades now. Nintendo mascot games will outsell that figure while on a single platform. A couple of million copies would definitely have seemed alot to me 20 years ago. But st some point you have to adjust for market growth. And sonic it seems, just hasn't

Joshua Brown

You’re overselling Sonic as a video game character. Mascot characters haven’t been system sellers for decades. What keeps Sonic relevant is the fact that he has a big presence outside of video games. Edit: apart from Mario

TheMuff1nMon

Asobo announced that A Plague Tale: Requiem had over 1 million players closely after launch but I think games launching into Game Pass have to be taken into account - since they said players and not copies sold. Might be something to consider when making your predictions, that Game Pass could prevent a game from charting on PS5

LastStandMedia

Definitely, but I wonder to what quantifiable degree? And if that's the case, does the guaranteed money outweigh the lost sales? Conundrum.

Clint

I think a problem with the new NHL is on playstation store its listed for $99.99 I can't find the $69.99 version and im not putting in the effort to look
