Please welcome Kara Lynne to the show. For just north of two years, Kara was the community manager for Limited Run Games, the popular (if perhaps sometimes controversial) physical games outfit run out of North Carolina. Then, the founder of BronyCon (seriously) found out she was excited about Hogwarts Legacy, and aimed to destroy her reputation. That person succeeded, at least partially -- Kara lost her job because of baseless character assassination -- but what happened to her didn't break her spirit. Indeed, in showing patience and kindness and in wielding a conciliatory nature, Kara is already in the process of rising above the absolute nonsense that attempted to tear her down. We were happy to get her for an episode of Sacred+, so that you could hear her story in her own words, and we cover a lot of bases: LRG's culture, her own political and social views, Embracer Group's likely role in her firing, her future in the industry, and more.

She great and kind, and the situation is so beyond the pale that really there is only so many ways to say, "WTF." Thanks for getting these Colin. Another sad example of this kind of horrifying situation. I can't imagine going through a situation like this, and all over nothing. The fact that companies are so easily persuadable to fire people when some unhinged people start this kind of "controversy" is the most scary thing. Everyone has opinions political or otherwise, doesn't mean you should not be allowed to have a life and a job because of it. Many people would not survive so gracefully being fired and losing their living. And again: over nothing. I'm saddened, but appreciate the good job on this interview.

This is terrible for all the obvious reasons, not the least of which is that this is not even a conservative personality. That is the difference in vitriol between reactions to Colin and Kara. Conservatives have the buying power, why is it not in us to contact a company or boycott a product to take back the power to have free speech? I don’t want conservatives to browse Twitter and fire every liberal that says so on social media, but that is exactly what they deserve. At any rate, great conversation. I hope Kara ends up owning her detractors’ fates.

This is yet another one of those situations where I didn’t know anything about Kara or LRG but their mess ruined my opinion of the company regardless. Like you said, no money going towards LRG ever. Kara seems like such a sweetheart and I’m glad her “cancellation” was just a blessing in disguise as she says. Hoping we do get her on the Harry Potter and Starfield discussions for sure.
