Things Have Changed Like A Decade | Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast, Episode 259

In another legendary Colin Was Right moment, Embracer Group has officially broadcast an SOS. The mega-publisher is in significant debt and severely overleveraged, with 17,000 mouths to feed over 131 studios making something like 250 games. But few of its products matter, it can't release enough quality fare to draw the requisite income to sustain its Ubisoft-sized headcount, and its products inevitably compete with each other, too. Embracer was always an absurd proposition, one that almost no one made a peep about while its teetering tower was built ever-higher. Let's discuss their future, one markedly different from the one they planned just a few years ago. We also take the time to get deep into this week's other news, as there are a lot of announcements emerging from various showcases. Star Wars: Outlaws, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Persona 3 Reload, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, and Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth are just some of the upcoming titles we touch on, as well sharing lots of thoughts about Final Fantasy XVI's well-received demo, and listener inquiries on topics like the arcade ticket economy, the perfect game length, and Last Stand licensing its content to a big media company. Plus: Can we get Boar's Head to sponsor this show? Probably not, as it turns out. I think the other thing people need to understand with some console games coming out running at 30 FPS or a non consistent 60 FPS, is that if people want to continue buying consoles at this reasonable of a price, compromises have to be made. My PC can run Cyberpunk at well over 150 FPS on Ultra settings, but my GPU alone costs $1500. In other words, a single component of my PC costs as much as three PlayStation 5’s. The value proposition of consoles is incredible if we really think about it. I was floored that GOW: Ragnarok had an uncapped performance mode that ran well over 60 frames.

Anonymous
>>110873821

I’m glad someone understands. A high frame rate isn’t a big deal to me at all. A consistent one is more important. How much in total would you say was your PC?

Jeffrey Willingham

Hey, Jeremy. I’ve continued to modify parts of it but I’d say all in I have about 5000 invested into my PC setup.

Anonymous

Jesus they’ve been hitting us with some real big boy sized pods lately

Tristen Wilbers

Happy to hear Chris's differing perspective on the Nick Mercs situation. I completely agree with him, and Nick was completely misinformed as to what was actually happening at the school, and it is as Chris was saying. You can read publicly available information about what was actually happening at the school, and it is totally mundane and agreeable. Teaching kids that it's okay if you feel like you are questioning whether you are straight or not is not grooming, and it's not indoctrination. Gay and trans people are normal and expected to occur in society, so kids should know about that.

TreyDogg

Props to Colin for staying true to the FFXVI Blackout. The demo save carries over, which was too tempting to resist

iain mcmanus

dustin handled colin during the soul caliber debate

Sorta Serious Gaming

Gotta disagree with Chris here on the Nickmercs situation. The whole point is that none of this is necessary to teach kids, period. Same with religion. Some would argue subscribing to the ideas of the extreme left is a type of religion. Parents are sick of their children being bombarded with "gender affirming care" and nonsense that made a school rationalize having litter boxes because one kid is delusional and thinks they're a cat. Why is it so necessary to mandate the celebration of a very small community's desire for attention and self-praise? That's what pride is, and forcing it in people's lives (especially children) is just as ignorant as forcing religion into their lives. It is not up to the schools to impart these things in kids' lives, its up to the parents. I don't know where people got this idea that anyone other than a child's parents are able to make these kinds of decisions for them, but it's gross in a very Orwellian way, and it needs to stop immediately before parents take matters into their own hands. And I can't say I would blame them if they did. I just think you're way out of your league on this topic, and likely misinformed if you think nothing is being done to kids with the amount baseless ideas warping their view of reality and the truth.

Michael Thew
>>110877987

Yeah, child grooming is awesome dude!! High five!! Second trans are not normal, putting chicken feathers in your ass doesn’t make you a chicken. There is a special place in hell for sickos like you

Julian Zhu

Years back I saw Brand New during their last tour and I expected them to play through their most recent record mostly (Science Fiction) but they actually ended up playing my favorite album of all time, The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me, front to back and only a few songs from the new record. One of the greatest live show experiences I’ve ever had, bar none. Really nothing like hearing full albums live instead of the randomly assorted tracks.

Michael Thew
>>110881372

Their time is coming to an end, just like the wreckage that the free love hippy generation left will happen to these poor mentally ill people. I know having a mental illness, trans people, is tough thing to come to grips with, but to turn a blind eye to it is not only selfish but also very dangerous to themselves and those around them.

Tristen Wilbers
>>110881372

Religion is a choice. Being gay and trans isn't. By your logic we should also stop teaching kids about the relationship mom and dad have altogether, because that's indoctrination, right? (/S) gay people exist, and that's okay. Also, for someone talking about other being misinformed, it sure is funny to talk about the litter box story which was a total hoax made up by Joe Rogan because he supposedly "heard it from a friend of a friend" and had to later walk it back. It's entirely untrue, and whatever perverted idea of trans people you have is totally based in unreality.

iain mcmanus

in disbelief at chris during the pride discussion. he literally said nothing is happening to kids... what?

Michael Thew
>>110881372

Don’t lump gay people in with the mentally ill. It disrespects them. Being attracted to the same sex is fine, taking a weed wacker to your junk isn’t. You saying being trans isn’t a choice, so in your dim view then neither is being bulimic or anorexic. But even that is fine, if an adult wants to mutilate themselves, go for it even if more often than not it end with suicide. But fucking up children for your social justice points is where normal people draw the line. Shit is child abuse and borders pedophila.

Michael Thew
>>110877987

Go fuck yourself, I like how you call someone a bigot like it means anything to me. Maybe your bigoted against normal people, see how easy that is? People like you are a fad and someday you’ll realize these social justice points your scoring doesn’t even matter because fucking children up isn’t a game

Josh Paradysz

Prop to Chris during the call of duty skin discussion, I really can’t fathom defending what that guy said. Also agree streamers shouldn’t be in the game in the first place seems like asking for trouble.

Michael Thew
>>110882114

Don’t even give that guy an answer, dude has issues and being a pedo doesn’t bother him as long as it furthers his sick agenda

Hidari Shotaro

"What's better: ripping a fat piss or laying down a mondo turd?" was the write-in. Classic.

I think it would be for the benefit of the podcast if topics that concern parents and their children are avoided until you yourselves are parents. I strongly disagree with Chris’ take on the CoD issue. It’s impossible to talk anything “pride” without discussing sexuality. At the age of 7 I would hope my children will be left alone. Hope you’re well.

Michael Thew
>>110887401

Yeah a bunch of selfish people without kids telling us parents that we are wrong and bigoted. They only care about themselves and don’t know what it is to unconditionally love something more than yourself.

Anonymous
>>110887401

I don’t know Chris, Colin or Dustin personally so I can’t talk on wether or not they are selfish individuals. What I can say is that people learn through experience and there is no way to teach perspective. We only know what we know and when assumptions are made things typically don’t work out. Hopefully all 3 have little ones of their own one day. Perspective will follow. And so will unconditional love. Be well Michael.

RoughSlpr

Just want to add some context to the whole Lockheed pride logo Raytheon and Lockheed have had discrimination protections for gay people built into their corporate policies since the early 2000's well before almost any other American corporation.

RoughSlpr
>>110887401

There are definitely ways you can discuss Pride to kids without being overly sexual just like you can speak to children about straight relationships in the same way. My daughter just turned 1 but I don't see this being as complicated as you described it.

RoughSlpr
>>110882114

Hope to see you protesting outside my local Catholic church this weekend Michael.

Anonymous
>>110887401

In a free society you take care of your children and I do the same with mine. Take care.

ChristianLikeTheReligion

Oh man. Chris’ opinion on the “leave the kids alone” story was just tone deaf. You know exactly what it means. What’s weird is them wanting to involve kids in their sexual charades/acts. Read stories about how kids in the elementary level are being taught sex acts and the like. Whether they know about gay people is irrelevant. That should be up to their parents to decide. Which is the whole point of these things. Parental consent.

Stinkling
>>110892421

Did you seriously just say it should be up to parents if theirs kids understand and are aware of people that aren't hetero? Yikes dude. Yikes.

Angel DeJesus

I played the ff16 demo slowly this week, just finishing today. Progression carrying over is a big reason why. Without that, I wouldn't have touched it. Now I'm passed the tutorial and the prologue.

Stinkling
>>110881372

Sheesh this episode really let the nutjobs loose didn't it. Imagine finding someone's identity so offending you want your children to pretend they don't exist at all, and you want to bark about indoctrination? And really the pedo card? The lazy card all you nutjob right wingers pull as the excuse for your bigotry?

Cody Hurd
>>110887401

I disagree, there is a huge culture war being fed by politicians and it leaked into their space. I have kids, and I agreed with Chris on this particular topic. My 2nd grader has a 3 kids in her class with LGBT parents. It's not even a blip on her radar because we (her parents) never made it be. Just like it's not weird for her classmate to only have a mom and no dad. The adults are being weird here. LGBT people exist and are not going anywhere.

Cody Hurd
>>110887401

I was replying to your top comment, you can talk to your kids about pride without sexualizing it.

Anonymous
>>110887401

I will do what is best for my children while it is my responsibility to do so. Thank you for your concern. Take care.

TreyDogg
>>110892421

Maybe keeping sexuality out of very early education isn't as "phobic" as people love to scream from the rooftops. Completely warranted that parents have some reservations

Angel DeJesus

I dunno if it was my TVs VRR, but I didn't notice the frame rate problems. So hopefully alot of people getting it have a tv with VRR.

MJ SKA BOI

“What are we celebrating?” Commemorating** those killed for their identity by gathering together and being alive together. Showing** queer people that they don’t have to be afraid of those who seek to destroy (or prevent) their freedoms. This is easy!

Luke Silletta

Dustin is right about the physical games argument. You know for a fact that one day Sony or someone will pull the plug on some of your access to games. Its just a matter of when. I still try to buy physical when I can.

TriggerHappyTom
>>110892421

I feel like whenever political topics come up it becomes quite obvious that Chris has no idea what he's talking about. Making political content used to be his entire business model and it seems like he doesn't follow the news at all since he moved past that.

Jake H.

Square Enix’s demo for Star Ocean had bad frame drops that were fixed by release since the demo was based on an older build of the game. I think it’s possible the same thing is true for FFXVI and I imagine given that FF is a much more important franchise to SE, that the performance will be at least somewhat better by Day 1.

Andy
>>110898297

physical games wear out... never understood why people find physical better. I like digital as it increases my odds that I will always have access to my games... just my opinion.

Conroy Mendel

I dont understand the worry about the FFXVI demo "spoiling" the game...since your save carries over the demo is, in a sense , just an early access. Unless I'm missing something on how it works, the demo IS the game.

Luke Silletta
>>110898297

As long as you are not a neanderthal its fine. I'll never understand how people's games get so scratched and scuffed. I just looked at my copy of FF7 for PS1. The case is immaculate. Instruction manual pristine. And I can see my reflection in the glorious black bottom discs. If you treat things with respect they will last forever.

carter weiss

Colin, did you say you lived in Maine for a few years? Grew up in Augusta and live in South Portland currently and have heard no mention of this in my time following you.

Michael Thew
>>110896307

But if white people celebrate being white we’re either in the kkk or a nazi. What a double standard. Lol or maybe we just act like we’ve been there and release how little it matter to us

Out_Of_Focus_Bigfoot

Really great convo around the pride topic, I thought you guys handled it well. Towards the end of the discussion Colin, you asked if being gay really is stigmatized still. I will say just as a personal observation, I work in construction, and one of the guys that I work with is gay. He's not open about it on the jobsite to anyone, never brings it up, just goes to work and does his job like the rest of us. You would not believe the heinous, hateful shit I have heard people say to him, not knowing he's gay. I have seen with my own eyes someone say to his face ver batim "I fucking hate f-slurs, they're fucking disgusting" This guy just goes to work every day and does a great job, and has to listen to people tell him he's subhuman and shouldn't exist and that they hate him daily. People talking shit to him about him, not knowing. The list of awful shit I've heard is endless, but the point being that we've certainly come a long way in treating lgbtq people like people in many areas, but the stigma is absolutely alive and well in many places.

Jamil Bhatti

Im from canada and that canada comment was not cool guys :((

Caz
>>110907499

Now do Christians/conservatives in Tech… an industry that has power and can influence culture

Joey

I find it disgusting how some people are deploying the word pedo to describe gays, trans, and the LGBT crowd. Is being gay still stigmatized? In our comments it certainly is. (I should add it’s a very small amount of people. Most comments and convos are generally cordial.)

Caz

Colin put it perfectly “Somethin’ is up.” If you can’t see it by now… 🤷🏼‍♀️

Michael Thew
>>110915180

We find it disgusting you use nazi, racist and bigot against us so buckle up buttercup

Joey
>>110915180

When did I use those words, exactly? You see, while I can point out examples of your backwards behaviour, you on the other hand cannot.

Joey Gondhalekar
>>110915180

Who is “We”? Nobody here is calling you a nazi, racist, or a bigot. Yet you come on here with every comment that dare push back on your beliefs and call people pedophiles. That is an undeniable truth no matter what YOU say. You have been at this for hours and hours. Also, if people are calling “We”, nazis, racists, and bigots then maybe it’s time to take a good look in the mirror and identify what hill you want to die on Michael.

Michael Thew
>>110907499

Maybe find better friends, play the victim and that’s all you’ll ever be. You think that your the only one with these problems. You know what the gay community dealt with in the 80s and 90s? It was AIDS and real persecution. So get the fuck out of here with your name calling, getting a disease that was an automatic death sentence, those were the people that can get down on themselves and play the victim if they wanted to. But you know what was amazing, most didn’t because they had to be strong because no one else would be for them. Something that you and your movement knows nothing about. If being called a name in hate is your biggest complaint in life then I’m sorry buttercup, but your a fucking joke

Ricardo Silva

The problem with pride has nothing to do with being gay anymore. The prob is not the the LGB but the rest. All the gay people I know (including my brother) say lgb is biological the rest is ideological. Why do we now have drag queens reading for children for example? Have you seen some of the reading materials in schools? The push for gender affirming care aka child mutilation. People are just fed up with ideological push. This ideology has turned into a secular religion. People just don’t realise how this gender ideology is incredibly homophobic and misogynistic. Peace.

MJ SKA BOI
>>110918100

Drag Queens =/= Trans people Get informed before you try and join the conversation (goes for a many people in here.)

Sam Myers

Finally someone said something about the Daffy Duck fiasco. Colin has called him that for years now lol great laugh everytime

Stinkling
>>110918100

The only ideological push in schools is Christianity, there is no secret gay agenda in schools to turn your kids trans (there is however a massive push to shame and harm LGBT people in schools from right wing Christians) I cant even believe people think that and aren't embarrassed when they admit it. How do you listen to Sacred Symbols and Colin who push critical thinking, citing sources, having proof etc And actually believe this wild garbage? Have you learned nothing from this podcast and how Colin presents and argues his points?

Stinkling
>>110907499

@ Michael Cancel your sub, no one wants to read your bigoted drivel. Like seriously i went to bed for 8 hours, got up and you are still all over these comments ranting and raving and spewing hate. Get a life.

Ricardo Silva
>>110918100

The only?? Hell no. There’s some Christianity push that’s fair but that doesn’t mean that gender ideology not very pervasive too. I’m an atheist btw. Again, why are drag queens performing to kids in schools and libraries? Why the need to support life altering surgery to kids when they are not even old enough to have a tattoo?? Why and how the fuck we got to the point where ppl can’t even define what a woman is? Why is it acceptable to let biological males compete with women when the opposite doesn’t happen? Why is a gay man called an transphobe if he refuses to have sex with a trans man? You know, a man with a vagina… These are just some of the issues and looks like a big ideological push has been going on…

PRETENTIEUX
>>110918100

MJ SKA BOI literally nobody cares about the difference between drag and trans. They are both liars and they are proud of it. They demand everyone around them believe their lies and act is if they are true. They get offended when we don't do this for them. I don't care what makeup you put on or how you act, I'm not playing your game. Regarding the school system: from K through College this system is entirely structured to produce atheistic sexual miscreants who think that they are an accident and that hedonism will somehow save them. I don't know how anyone can look at or even go through academia and not see this. LMAO A Christian Agenda in schools? You have got to be kidding me. What fucking school system are your kids a part of? Ask any 10-year-old if a person can just choose if they are a man or a woman and I guarantee the majority of them will tell you yes, we can be whatever we want to be. You probably agree with that statement and that's very sad. Ya'll think you've been learning science when really what you are learning is sexual philosophy. You can't scientifically falsify whether gender is a spectrum. When we are redefining terms in the way we have been, the scientific method is not necessary, helpful, or even welcome. This is all philosophy masquerading as science.

Out_Of_Focus_Bigfoot
>>110907499

@MIchael so you're saying people should have to go through life listening to and being subjected to hate speech every day because of innate characteristics they have no control or choice over?

Evan

How much money does Pat McAfee have? When is enough money enough? I remember seeing The Rock, one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood, try to peddle his energy drink while also being paid for a minute-long spot promoting his movie at Summer Game Fest. I guess the paycheck can outweigh integrity, regardless if you need it or not.

PRETENTIEUX

Chris is a degenerate lmao. WTF I was not expecting that. His reasoning is NOT sound. We don't expect children to consent to sexual activity but we introduce all these ideas and call it PRIDE of all things before they even want to kiss the opposite sex. Chris, you're a moron and a monster.

Jdummann92

I am saddened by the desire to be sponsored by Boar's Head. I work at Land O'Lakes specifically on their deli cheese and each time you mention Boar's Head a little piece of me dies inside haha

MJ SKA BOI
>>110918100

Not reading that shit after seeing you call drag queens “liars.” That’s like calling Tom Hanks a “liar” for being in Forest Gump

Joe B

Dustins argument that people shouldnt trust starfield because Bethesdas 2nd team made Fallout 76 doesnt make any sense. Should we not trust Naughty Dog since the last thing they released was a Broken PC version of TLOU Part One? Same situation. High profile team slapped their name on a shitty game they didnt make in studio, yet released it anyways to bad reviews.

Joe B
>>110936043

Colin agreed with his statement you buffoon. Hopefully he blocks you from this community.

Kurt Edwards

It’s amazing how many people buy into the outrage culture, clickbaiting articles designed to keep us all at each others throats for engagement. All I would say is you’re just giving the Zucks of the world more money by continuing to feed the hate machine. It would probably benefit you greatly to find something more positive and productive to do with your time rather than buying into this culture war bullshit.

Dan Sing Izzy Rae Lee
>>110919383

Yet they call them pride events. People who secretly have recorded these drag shows have exposed the "love is love" is a foot in the door for exposing kids to Sodomy. These queer activists hold the pride signs and freak flags high. Advocates of Trans rights WANT these drag shows, and pointing out that they're wrong isn't an indictment of all Trans, but the movement has these people in it, and making false equivalents to diminish people's arguments are disingenuous.

Dan Sing Izzy Rae Lee
>>110916766

Clearly the royal "you" in this instance. That's a petty argument to make, you know what Joey means. Leftists have used these pejoratives countless times to shut down conversations and ideological opponents. Meanwhile calling people in support of Pride in schools pedo is meant as an insult to deride people with the notion that allowing a stranger to teach other people's kids about sexuality is acceptable... it isn't. If someone wants to talk to 3rd graders about LGBT and keep these talks secret from the parents, they are indeed bad people.

Benito

Thank you Chris for your perspective during the pride discussion. You're a core pillar of this show and many of us here highly appreciate your presence, especially during topics such as these.

Agree with Dustin about Kotaku. No hate clicking or watching all the trash media. Part of the reason that awful Velma show got renewed was people hate watching. Let trash media die already instead of helping to prolong its life. The left pushing gender ideology(specially in schools) and drag queens on kids it's what's driving the backlash to the LGBT activists. The pushback is deserved. Many LGBT people disagree with the nonsense too.

My point is more that the reality is when Naughty Dog releases their next title from their main Neill Druckmann team, we wont be seeing anyone say "We should be hesitant about this new game because their last release was a busted PC release of TLOU Part 1."

One of the two major political parties wants to genocide the gay community but they aren’t marginalized because liberal 27 year old girls that work in marketing want to make the corporate logs a different color for a month. Brilliant commentary

lets put it this way, if the republicans and their base got all the power in the world to do whatever they want and to make any policy they want targeting gay and trans people, it wouldn't be pretty. We all know it. It's dishonest to pretend there isn't a ton of hate directed their way. but woke corporations.

Steve Neeley

The idea that gay sex is being taught to elementary school kids is a weird thing considering that hetero sex isn't even taught. My wife teaches elementary school in a very liberal town in a solidly blue state. The only discussions of "the gay agenda" that happens at the school is like "Some people have two dads and some have two moms. Be kind." I think a lot of "anti-LGBT" types get their info from sources that are "news" in name only. On a side note. I disagree with Colin that Pride month isn't necessary. I have several friends all over the rainbow and they get hate, in person, all the time. Progress has been made, but we still have a ways to go. I love Colin's mantra of not judging people by their immutable characteristics alone, but unfortunately much of our nation still judge by such characteristics.

Abdirizak

Yikes on Dustin’s initial take on the Pride/CoD controversy.

I really enjoyed a lot of the topics in this episode. I gave the Pride segment a chance but it drags out way too long. Seems like a good fit for Constellation though.

I literally just got to him saying that there are instances of people targeting kids, in what fucking way? A how are Colin and Dusting so tone deaf? It isn't about teaching someone's sexuality in a sense of step by step onstruction on how gay sex is performed, it's teaching them that there are people that are in love with the same gender as them and that's okay. You need to raise awareness to reduce the stigma that these people are different and should be treated as such, the same thing with other minority groups. Am I indoctrinating and targeting my kids because they have gay grandfather's and a gay uncle? Kids ask questions about things that don't appear normal, isolate them to one lifestyle and you continue the cycle of fear of an imagined boogieman, Colin and Dustin's takes are completely ludicrous.

Ryan
>>110959236

You should probably stay on topic? I know you are dying to get to your both sides talking point. I’m specifically talking about how dangerous the right is to gay and trans people and there is an active push to demonize them.

They are getting hate because of things like PRIDE MONTH and DRAG QUEEN STORY HOUR. I'm not saying it's right, but this stuff is being pushed so hard that it feels like war to a lot of people.

Morgan Moonscar

I don't think Dustin is a bad guy, just ignorant. This whole thing of pride and them going after kids is such disingenuous and false. I wish people would point to actual examples of kids being targeted by lgbt people. It's just a way to be bigoted to a community that gets treated like shit. Also, the same people pushing this, a lot of them a religious fanatics and if you wanna look at human rights violations and kids being sexually abused, look no further than the church. But they never talk about that or condemn them.

Jeremy Seal

Morgan Moonscar

Thanks for not giving any examples. What shows and movies? Drag queen story hour is nothing buna drag queen reading kids stories to children. Who cares? You can be hyperbolic all you want, it's not excuse to pin shit on a community that gets picked on.

Steve Neeley
>>110993161

Equality feels like oppression (or war) to a lot of people. Nobody is taking away our right to be straight white men. Gay/trans people aren't trying to indoctrinate straight kids to be gay or trans. Straight kids/teens aren't gonna have gay sex just to be cool. It doesn't work that way. The idea is ludicrous. Pride month exists to help LGBT people gain visibility as valuable members of society. That's it. Right now they are falsely viewed as degenerate pedophiles that most sky daddies tell their congregations to disdain. If you don't like drag queen story hours, then don't take your kids to them. Simple. I don't like the psychological and emotional manipulation that happens in churches, so I don't take my kids to those. Simple. But there just isn't any "LGBT indoctrination" that happens at schools in America. It's a made up Boogeyman.

AshamedMadMaN

Nickmerc’s comments had nothing to do with Pride. That’s YOU assuming his intentions. He recently became a father and his general take on teaching sexuality in school is he wants to be the one to talk to his children about sexuality, not the school or the school board. Being this goes as far as elementary school and kindergarten, I feel that this is a massive problem to teach children about sexual preference at such a young age considering how impressionable they are. In addition, there not your kids, the school boards kids, the teachers kids or the activists that are so desperately trying to use kids to validate there world view. If you find a problem with a parent trying to protect there children from sexual ideas at such a young age, either you don’t have kids or there’s something wrong with you. No BS here, no hate for preference, just keep it away from kids until there young adults and able to make there own decisions. Sound reasonable enough? Everyone seems to be so scared to talk about this topic when it pertains to kids for fear of seeming homophobic or being canceled or having something to lose. Dustin was the adult in this situation. Mad respect. I guess TimTheTatman decided to drop his multimillion dollar deal with Activision because he wanted to be a homophobe with Nickmercs. Put two and two together, stop trying to ingratiate, Jesus Christ.

AshamedMadMaN
>>110993471

@KumarJankins It’s amazing to me to see you say these things about children with complete apathy, like it doesn’t matter at all to show sexual preference to underage kids. What is sexual preference other than who you want to fuck right.? Let’s teach all the kids in elementary school about who they want to fuck. You’re one of many ignorant’s that doesn’t even understand the words that are coming out of your mouth. You would rather ingratiate yourself in the name of a child’s innocence. Of course the school and the school board knows best after all they are THIER children right? The kids have even had enough of this shit. You have middle schoolers running around ripping down pride month posters and wearing red white and blue chanting “my pronouns are USA”. Nothing but a bunch of homophobes, am I right! XD. Leave the little children alone indeed.

AshamedMadMaN
>>110978706

@tadrewki It is not okay to sexualize children in any way, especially at school where the parents have no say in what their children are exposed to without their consent. They’re not your kids, the teachers kids or the school boards kids. I’m 36 years old and the school didn’t teach sexual education until 7th or 8th grade, and even then there were only a select few of students that were even allowed to be exposed to sexuality with parental permission. This has nothing to do with pride or social politics, it’s a tale as old as time of how schools have been so timid in the past on when it’s the right time to talk to children about sexuality, and your arguing the schools are the ones that should make that decision, not the parents. After all what is sexual preference other than who you find attractive and want to fuck. Let’s teach all the elementary schoolers that, great idea. Your so enlightened.

Teaching kids about different walks of life is not bad. To show them the world is filled with all types of people gives perspective that people are different. Talking about gay relationships is not inherently sexual. You are putting that out there because your mind is in the gutter. It's also not pushing kids to be gay or bi or trans or whatever. Acknowledgement is all that it is. It's people like you and don't seem to give a shit about kids.

Morgan Moonscar
>>110993471

Drag queens are not always a sexual thing. Get your mind out of the gutter. A drag queen reading to kids is not inherently bad, who cares? It's funny how you never call out the horrible stuff that goes on in church on a much bigger scale. There was a church recently that was outed in abusing 2000 kids. But you ignore shit like that.

Morgan Moonscar

@KumarJankins Dude I’m 36 years old, an atheist who lives in rural Tennessee. The United States is one of, if not the friendliest place for the LGBTQ community on the planet. Saudi Arabia throws gay people off roofs for who they are. People like me get beheaded in the town square for apostasy. Until the Christian sects start doing that then we can come back and have this conversation. Stop acting like you know anything about the world, it’s clear you haven’t seen enough of it. Matthew Shepard was a gay college student. On October 7, 1998, he was at a bar and befriended Russel Henderson and Aaron McKiney. He asked them for a ride home, but they took him out into a remote area, tied him to a fence, robbed and severely beat him. Shepard was later found by a bicyclist who at first mistook him for a scarecrow; Shepard was in a coma. Matthew Shepard lay in a hospital bed on life support until he died at 12:53 a.m. on October 12, 1998. This story as a teenager completely changed my perception on the way people live their lives. I don’t think gay people are groomers or pedophiles. There just normal people who are being scarecrowed by activists with a cause. Like you.

AshamedMadMaN
>>110993471

“Talking about gay relationships is not inherently sexual”. Did you say this? I just want to make sure. Of course I think there are churches with corruption. Just last week we had a pastor here get caught having an affair with a 14 year old. Yeah, he’s going to prison. Rightfully. I delivered his mail. You’re just a full of assumptions, declarations, and judgements about people who disagree with your world view aren’t you. Makes sense considering you can’t make a distinction on what is inherently sexual and what isn’t. It’s pretty simple. They’re not your kids. They’re not the teachers kids. They’re not the school boards kids. Does this give them the right to expose them to sexual preference. An emphatic NO. It doesn’t matter how you spin it. The more you try to spin, the more concerned I am for you. After all what is sexual preference other than who you find attractive, to have sex with.

Morgan Moonscar
>>110993471

Listen to me, you're not listen, talking about gay and couple and trans issues is not sexual. People talk about straight couple all the time and it's not sexual. But your mind is so rotted you can't understand nuance. You are just stuck in the gutter of gutters and thinks it's all sexual. I worry for you, how uneducated the American people are. Teaching that gay people exist is not equivilent showing them a gay porn or talking about sexual intercourse. Of course that shouldn't be talked about with kids. Just informing people gay couples exist is not bad. And again you take it to some sexual place like some creep.

Daniel Urban

Morgan Moonscar
>>110993471

I said I don't think he's a bad person. What do you mean, "wow"? I think it is kinda a strange take. I don't think it's from a bad place, I just thought he was a little ignorant of the situation. I think he's a nice dude.

AshamedMadMaN
>>110993471

No, I hear you loud and clear. I’m against teaching children in school about sexual preference. I think this a parental issue. You’re not, and you think the school has the right to teach sexual preference to other people’s children. I disagree. Your lack of respect for parents reservations is concerning really, considering what we’ve been seeing at these school board meetings. Also, the millions of students being pulled from public schools in this country alone is enough to understand that I’m not alone with this opinion. All just uneducated creeps I’m guessing, right?

TreelineMars

I was entirely unimpressed with Chris’ (whose takes I often agree with) ignorance of the material involved in educating small children about pride, it is not just live and let live, it is overt sexual instruction. It is not a little thing given that the protest happened in California, a state that actively invites runaways to have their surgeries there, and has it in law that teachers can’t disclose gender identity to parents. Watch more, do the work.

There are plenty of evidence of kids being sexualize in public school. No child needs to know happen your sex life. You're still on the " it does happen phase." Then comes " it happens, but it is rare" The comes " it does happen, but it's a good thing. Lastly " it happens and the people against it are the real problem."

Benjamin Nadeau

If you believe the statement "leave children alone" is an affront to the pride movement, then doesn't that say a lot about this pride movement. You can celebrate Pride month without involving children.

Colin, possible correction for next week. Someone asked a question around the 3.5hr point, about Mark Cerny and time it takes to develop games, the answer given was "we hope the ps5 pro is coming out so games stay 60fps". 😂😂

towtansua

The podcast was fine but if it was me, I would have done more research into the specific concerns of those Aremenian parents, instead of running with potential misrepresentations of their concerns. That would explain the term "grooming" a lot better. Nobody is using that term to apply to all gay peope, or even to all trans people. But there are some specific situations where the term kinda has some applicablility. I find it strange that anyone to the right of hillary clinton can get called a nazi by the left, but if some on the right uses this term "groomer" in specific, questionable situations, it's a terrible scandal. i think the podcast hosts were flumuxed by the use of the term "groomer" because the coverage of the whole thing was so dishoest that they had no way of knowing the actual context. but maybe that's a nitpic since this crew is 20 times more fair and reasonable than many of their peers. Further, it's very important to remember what Colin said about not putting people into checkboxes and just having normal, good relationships with other human beings.

I'm not going to delve deeply into the comment section of this episode because of the toxicity around the CoD/NM topic. But I think if a topic such as that is brought up, it should first be thoroughly understood by the hosts as to what actually happened not only with NM, but with the parents and the school. Otherwise it is hard to listen to because of the lack of knowledge by the crew. My perception could be wrong, but when it came up it was easy to predict what each member was going to say. And it was. I would personally rather it not be brought up because it just derails the show, in my opinion, and then leads to massive community infighting in the comments section. As someone who generally enjoys political commentary, listening to it was very difficult. You can run the show the way you want obviously. Just my two cents.

Zachary Beach

I'm happy to see Chris's comments about the nickmercs thing. I'm even more surprised that so many agree with him in this community myself included and it's just a couple people using words like groomer and such.

Gooch Gobbler

Sad to see some of the comments here. Damn near half my family is gay but the only person I am tangentially related to that sexually abused kids is a straight conservative Christian veteran. Not some purple haired trans person. I pray for more love and understanding. I think exposure to other types of people takes the scary mystery out of this stuff for people. That's why teaching about all kinds of sex and people is important. A lot of these comments make me want to leave this community but I know that will just lead to a monoculture so hopefully I will stay to provide some diversity in thought. Thank you for Chris and the others here that are respectful and understanding. Assume positive intent everyone <3

Zachary Beach
>>111049791

It's not a coincidence Paul that the implication of the word used in mass against gay families is the same as the good old tride and true calling gay families pedos bigotry. If you're out there using that word, if you're helping people with very bad intentions, spreading their rhetoric, that's just kind of shitty man.

Zachary Beach

Honestly man I was surprised to see so much support for what chris said, and the people disagreeing to be just a couple guys who commented on every post. towtansua
>>111049791

Thanks for sharing where you're coming from. Sorry though it's a stretch that we can't use the term groomer for ideological trans grooming because of alleged homophobia from other people in other contexts. And sorry I don't think those parents trying to protect their kids have bad intentions. Maybe some of the people transing kids have bad intentions, and not being allowed to shame those people is what actually helps the bad intentions.

Gooch Gobbler

re: digital games being delisted, i personally find it just as, if not more troubling, that the store blocks new sales, but will allow existing re-downloads. it seems colin is just fine and dandy as long as you can redownload your purchases. that's ok, i guess, but to me it should be just as troubling to block new sales vs existing sales. i had to jailbreak my ps3 just so i could play afterburner climax, because it was delisted and i wasn't aware the game existed before. i've procured several delisted games in the interim that i was late to the party on. and i think that's also where dustin is coming from is: so what if you can re-download your games. the actual concern is the inability to buy the game after it's been delisted. and that's where the call for physical comes in is... i've never played soul caliber 5. and digitally now i can't. unless i buy the disc. thankfully if i ever decide to play the game, i have that option on ebay.

I don't think it's essential that they include The Answer and FeMC in Persona 3 reload, but without them it's kind of a "why bother?" for me. I've played Persona 3 to death, but I haven't yet finished The Answer or FeMC, so those two would be the main draw in a new game to me. Without it? I probably won't even buy it.

bigafroman14

The whole thing with nic and leaving kids alone and stuff is weird Also the thing about kids being taught about trans and gay people is strange. It just reminds me of when some parents were mad about us learning about sex ed in school. As a parent of a 10 year daughter in school I feel like it's all just blown out of proportion. The class my daughter is in actually welcomes parents to sit in when it comes to "touchy" subjects. I've sat in on some and they were very informative and not at all as exaggerated as the TV networks make it out to be. Im pretty open minded but that's just been my experience.
