Greetings, Count Chocula Chris! If someone gave you the reins to completely disrupt either Microsoft or Sony, including any of their game dev teams, what would you do? In other words, what would long-term goals be and what fundamental flaws within these companies would you want addressed? Cheers and be well my friend. <3

Hayden Glass

Yo Sacred Snark! What’s your vibe on Death Stranding 2? Im playing the first one right now and Im really enjoying it. Imagining what Kojima can do with more time, money, and understanding of the engine has my mind racing. Curious to hear your thoughts!

Greg Dawson

Hi Chris, Hypothetical question. If you were running LSM now and it needed one more show - what new podcast would you bring in, what would it be about and who would you have on it? Hope you're well 👍 Greg

Michael Small

Hi Chris! In the last year or two, it feels like you've broadened your gaming horizons. Final Fantasies, Like A Dragon etc. Is this just for RPGs or are there other genres you've previously been closed off to that you might want to explore? And do you find that you're more open-minded to trying new games now than you might have been when you were younger? Thanks man, always love to hear your perspective.

Jimmy Neutron

Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life, or join in one time?

Robbie Cooper

Hello Chris! If you could reset your mind and experience this all over again for the first time, what game would you choose? Tough choice for me, but I’m going with Halo 3. It revived my dying love for gaming and introduced online gaming to me. Thousands of hours played, and long lasting friendships were made. Thank you for your time!

Sup Chris So I’ve been in quite a gaming lull where I find myself just hoping into my comfort games not really wanting to play anything new or different. So my question is how do you deal with your gaming lulls and any advice on how not to get bored with games

Anonymous

Hey Chris, I've been waiting to send in this story for a long time, the story of how I trusted you, and your American-ness fucked me. Years ago you were talking on Snark Tank, about how one of life's great pleasures is the New York slice, and to go anywhere except "zeebar-ohs". I arrived in NY, excited for my 'za, found a nice looking place, which I read, in my Southern English accent as "ess-barrows" and went in. Within those walls I ate the worst pizza of my life and a cock-sized-cockroach made it's way onto my person. My wife says she thinks we got the true New York experience. Personally; I'm still mad, I still blame you, and I still listen to you in 2 places every week. Have a good day and see you in London.

Hey Chris, I’m both proud and ashamed to tell you that my lovely wife and I have consumed all your YouTube content over the years. One video she demands we watch at least once a month is “The Privilege Rap” and is easily considered, in this household, to be peak YouTube entertainment. Is there a video from any creator that you consider peak YouTube? Also, If a hostile alien race came down to Earth and demanded to view one of your videos in order to elicit a laugh, or else everyone we all love and cherish would perish, which video of yours would you submit? Thanks for all the laughter and cringing you’ve brought into our lives.

Dylan Manuszak

Dear Christopher R. Gun, Let's get into some shady territory, give us your thoughts on Creator Clash 2 losing money. I'm sure this is obviously frustrating for you as a fighter, on top of everything else, but do you feel ultimately the event was mismanaged? The funds the fighters were given as a way to help cover expenses (estimated $460k total) would have put CC2 in the green if not provided and charities would have gotten paid. Would you have agreed to fight without these funds?

Tyler

As a long time YouTuber, how do you feel about it’s evolution as an entertainment medium? I mainly mean, it went from being a video platform we’d share short funny videos on and now channels are making millions and in many ways, YouTube has overtaken cable and streaming platforms as a primary form of entertainment.

Hey Chris, I'm a huge Splinter Cell fan, much like yourself. If you were tasked with making a new Splinter Cell game in 2023, what would it be like? Would you include the social stealth elements of Conviction? Would it be action-focused like Blacklist or more plodding and stealth-focused like the first four games? Would you make it open world or more linear? Would it include Spies vs Mercs? Or maybe you have some brand new ideas for the series, like Elden Ring-style boss battles and a kart racer spin-off? Personally, I think Chaos Theory is pretty much perfect. For my money, the bank level is one of the best in all of gaming. Keep up the good work! - Luke

Hey Chris simple question you are on a long road trip when you stop at a gas station what drink and snacks are you getting

ᴮᵁᴺˢ

What’s poppin my boy? As someone who indulges in multiple ecosystems, what’s your stance on Xbox’s “transparency to a fault” according to Colin/Jaffe as well as Playstation’s unwillingness to communicate and compete? You have a tendency not to engage on the show (I honestly see why) so I was curious as to your uninterrupted temperature on the matter. Shout outs to you.

Hey Chris, It has been over three years since Doom Eternal came out and I feel like an announcement from Id about what they're working on is imminent. Whether it be a new Doom game, a reboot of Quake, or something entirely new, what do you think they could do to iterate on the gameplay systems that Eternal established? I personally enjoy the more tactical, enemy weakness-based combat, but do you think they will focus in on that or go back to more of the mindless blasting that Doom 2016 has?

Petre Cismigiu

Hey, Christopher Simple, short and sweet. If you had to pick one, what's your favorite memory since joining Sacred Symbols? ( I asked Dustin the same thing on his latest mailbag and I'm really curious what your answer is)

Dylan Michael

Hola Ray Gun, as a listener since the single digit episodes, are there any funny memories or stories back from when you and Colin did the show in person? If not, is there anything you miss about doing an in person podcast? Is the dynamic better? Thanks!

A Hind D

Chris- my request is for you to gush about doom 2016 and how Doom Eternal iterated on 2016; then finish with what you’d like in a potential 3rd entry. Thank you fellow boricuan king

Howdy Mr. Ray Gun, Long time fan here. I’ll get right to it. At what point did you feel confident enough in your knowledge of the video game industry to become an analyst? Was there a learning curve? I’m an avid gamer myself, but I really have no idea how the industry works or operates outside of what I’ve learned from Sacred Symbols. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

9-11 is a reference to MGS 2

Hello Puerto Rican Demon, I write to quickly ask if you have ever played or heard of the game “Ultrakill”? If you haven’t, it’s an exceptional boomer shooter game that combines elements of “Quake”, “Doom” and even “Devil May Cry” oddly enough. I think this game is so up your alley that you’d seriously be missing out if you didn’t try it for yourself. I honestly think it’s the best shooter I’ve played. It even has grappling hooks ;) Check it out! Thank you for your service for the gamer battalion!

Ember's Arcade

Hey, Chris! What do you want to see from the sequel to Death Stranding? Should it more Amazon-core or should it be completely transformative?

RFK Rodgers 2024

Everyones so concentrated on the negatives of the Activision-Microsoft merger but what are some of the positives you see that could be a reality because of this new relationship? Maybe old IP’s getting new chances or collaborations between all of the various studios that are under the Microsoft umbrella now. Would enjoy a more positive spin on all of this instead of the usual negativity that is surrounding the deal.

Anonymous

Hey Chris, On the most recent episode of the snark tank you and Sweeney talked about what makes a great burger. So here on sacred symbols, I wanted to ask what makes a great game to you. Maybe there are 3 key ingredients that make a “Chris” game. What comes to mind? Thanks Cass

Jonathan Turner

Chris the Slim thug ray gun, I need you to explain something some seems like a contradiction on your end. You said a friend of yours saying is “No gameplay, no excitement” when it comes to announced games. I personally love that and will adapt it myself. But right after you mention how excited you were for Marathon…This was the episode after the latest Sony Showcase.

Hey Chris, It’s been three years since I purchased my first guitar. I was wondering if you had any tips or suggestions on how to keep a steady practice schedule, and what Exactly I should be practicing. Scaling? Finger picking? Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks

Josh Correa

Hey Chris what were some of your favorite cartoons when you grow up? Did you see Invader Zim?

Haisten Smith

Yo Chris! You’re often known as the halo guy and the question gets asked what dev should tackle Halo. I want to flip that around. What property do you think 343 industries should tackle to take a break from Halo. With the recent acquisition of ABK there is plenty to chose from!

RYAN EICHLER

Hi Chris. Now that the ActiBlizz deal has survived the scrutiny of the US justice system (so far) and is likely to be closed after cloud-related divestitures in the UK, do you foresee any near-term impact on your day-to-day gaming? Thanks! -Ryan

Daniel Schiffer

Hi Chris. If you could spend a day in any fictional world, what would it be?

Reuben Barrett

Hi Chris in your honest opinion do you think Gamepass and Xbox is gonna absolutely wreck Playstation? I just can't see any reality where people will pay full price for games when Gamepass is sitting there with COD and Forza etc. In my personal experience ive gotten used to gamepass over the past few years and ive always felt a bit of a sting buying games at fullprice for my PS5. Almost feels like going back to buying DVDs after Netflix etc became the way to go.

Lachlan M. Brosnan

Yo Chris, Is there a game you're glad you got to play as an adult because it was either before your time or you were too young to get the most out of the game? For me, it's Bioshock, I was around 8 when the game came out but I don't think I could have appreciated the themes and story the way I did when I played it this year at 25. Cheers

TRAGICTACTICS

What's your take on the film industry as a whole? You briefly mentioned film on Sacred when someone wrote in about balooning budgets. I love film. Even considering going into the industry since I want to make movies. I see so many movies every year. I love the large tub of popcorn and giant soda and just chilling in this dark room. I love going to marvel movies opening weekend and seeing the crowd reactions. Just wanna know why you seem to dislike it so much.

Nevets

Chris, What is your favorite hat that you own? Any special hats in the collection? I quite liked the "gay Sega" hat. I almost saw a man die trying to retrieve his hat at The Grand Canyon. Is there a hat you'd almost die for? Maybe you need a custom hat that says "Lord of Ring Gollum 2 when?" I tip my hat to you sir! Good day.

Andy

Hey Chris, What is a Ray Gun?

John Hughes

Chris! You thinking about playing more Halo with fans anytime soon? I had a blast the few times I saw you doing that and was able to join in.

RK128

Hey Chris, What's your favorite game of 2023 so far? If it's Gollum, please let us know how we can help you.

Chris, Considering that the majority of people do not finish the games they buy. What impact do you think these people have on the industry? It seems to me that a majority of the industry is based on these sales. It doesn’t seem sustainable. In fact I’m worried about the lingering effects of asking developers to spend so much of their time on things that most gamers will never see. Would love yo hear your thoughts. Have a wonderful rest of your day. -chaos

Hey Chris This generation it feels like the priority is graphics and scale, over performance and gameplay. Do you feel this trend as well and what do you think should change going forward this generation. Thanks Sam from UK

rileydelete

Hey there, Chris. Just wanted to ask “how do you feel about the evolution of Sacred Symbols over time?” Seems you’ve grown a lot more comfortable and experienced alongside the show. What do you see/want for the future? -Riley.

Trent Miller

Hey Christopher Raymond Gunther, I've heard the answer of Colin and Dustin to this question but I'm curious about yours. Have you ever played a game out of spite? I did this with BOTW and played it to completion because my friend said I didn't see enough. Thanks and take care.

Zane Heck

Howdy Cowboy Chris, Look 15 years into the future and predict how many games Rockstar has released since GTA6. Is there a Bully 2 , new Red Dead game or has Rockstar moved on to a new IP? Weeelp that’ll be all. Have a good one and keep pecker poking that poultry

Kurt Lewin

Hi Chris. We all know about your love for the movie Spider-Man 2. But I wanted to know what are some of your other all time favourite films? Say a rough top 10 favourite films? Cheers from the UK

Biomachina

Hey Chris, 1 question and 1 comment: Comment: So I heard you talking about the location of New Zealand. I think the confusion might have come from the fact that the OLD Zealand (part of Denmark), is kind of close to iceland. also, question: Have you played battlebit? Seriously one of the better multiplayer FPS released in a while, puts battlefield to shame.

Animated

Good day Pipotron Chris, My question is about Ape Escape and if you think PlayStation will ever reboot or give it the AAA treatment. Ape escape 3 is my favorite, and if they expand upon it I think it could be a nostalgic, big hit. Ape escape pumped and primed was also an interesting take for the series. What would you want to see for a new AAA Ape Escape game/reboot? Thanks and Ooo Ooo Ahh Ahh!

Benn Stuart

Hey Chris, I heard you mentioned Richard Ayoade appearance in the new Fable and was wondering what other British sitcoms do you like? Also is Sega gay?

Ryen Gerson

Hey Chris - Do you ever feel life is a spiral of unforeseen events just bending you over a table and inserting it’s giant banana boat into you? You scream for it to stop, for help; but alas, you are alone in this moment and must fight for survival? Also, any under the radar games you’re looking forward to for the rest of 2023? Thanks for all you do!

Jack Fining

Hi there Chris, Gun of Ray I love it when you and Colin sneak Seinfeld and other comedy references into the shows here and there, and I wanted to ask what some of your favorite sitcoms of all time were? My personal favorites are Seinfeld, Community, and Awlays Sunny, would love to hear yours and your favorite types of comedy to watch!

JoshM

Hey Chris, hope all is well. What's your current outlook on Destiny with the upcoming showcase? Do you still feel the excitement or are you concerned for the game's future as seems to be the narrative from many right now? Personally, I usually just air on the side of cautious optimism, though I do think Bungie most definitely need to deliver more with Final Shape than they did with Lightfall. Take care and thanks for all the great work you and the team at LSM do.

Levelupbrady

Hey Chris Ray Gun, I'm a big fan of your work and wanted to hear your thoughts on a topic outside of gaming. Seinfeld is often hailed as one of the greatest sitcoms of all time. What do you believe sets Seinfeld apart from other sitcoms, and why do you think it continues to resonate with audiences even years after its original run? Additionally, do you have a favorite Seinfeld episode or moment that stands out to you? Looking forward to hearing your take on Seinfeld. Keep up the excellent work on Sacred Symbols! Best regards, ChatGPT

Tyee

When the next sacred symbols ladies happens could Sweeney be your choice by default or will you get a girl to chuck in the ring? Sorry for a more serious question what would be your ideal halo game? For me it would be something like what starfield is trying to do but limited to a whole halo ring.

Parks n Wrekd

Chris!!! Destiny question here. There is a big discussion over D2 releasing a “new” map in 2 seasons that was already a D2 map that got vaulted. My question to you if why is it so hard for Bungie (and to a greater extent all video games these days) to make new pvp maps? I think Forsaken had 6 new ones, same with Taken king in d1. I mean hell, Call of Duty had a map pack every 3 months with 5 maps back in the day and they barely add new ones to cod now (maybe 3-4 a year?)! Would love to know your thoughts! Thanks!

Mr. Ray Gun, You've mentioned your boxing days are likely behind you but as someone who went from a gamer-boy twink to a strong beefy gamer-man as well, have you really dropped all of your training completely? I understand scaling back and not going as hard as you were going, but I can't imagine working out that hard and feeling good letting it all go! You still lifting weights? You keeping up with your cardio? Are the ladies loving that summertime bod? Snoochie boochies!

Rob Pursglove

Hey Chris, You often speak about 343 industries and Halo's multiplayer. What are your thoughts on the 343 story particularly Infinite? Thanks for the laughs

Jackson Hisatake

Enough is enough. On recent episodes both you and Colin have praised 5 guys for being the best fast food burger. While 5 guys is delicious, it is not fast food! To be considered a fast food joint the restaurant must have a drive thru. Thanks and keep up the good work!

Hey Chris, I'd like your opinion as a fellow product of Bungie growing up. I've named all my cars after Halo characters (Cortana and Chief the previous ones). I named my blue Tesla ARBITER (license plate), because it looks like an alien spaceship. However, I never even thought to consider it as a real title in our world...rather a character name. I've so far had 1 drunk guy stumble out of a bar and recognize it as halo, but otherwise, I've gotten multiple comments on whether I'm an arbitrator. Should I alter-course?

Kevin Ruiz

What’s up Chris, One thing I hate the most is when games portray a Hispanic character w a Mexican accent automatically. With the recent GTA6 leaks we now know that one of its main characters will be of Caribbean Latin decent, either Cuban or Puerto Rican. Do you think it is vital for Rockstar to nail the correct accent on this character or will most gamers not care either way?

Tacoyaki

Hey Chris the Ray Gun! Which Halo novel is your favourite? Mine is First Strike. Thank you as always! Ps. Love you guys over there on snark tank!

Andrew Klocek

Chris, we have very different views on not only games but also politics. However, you’re funny as fuck and I love you on the show. I just wanted to shout out how much I appreciate you voicing your opinions on tough subjects, but never getting offended or mad when Collin or Dustin voice their opinions. You also never take shots at the other side (on the show) and I appreciate that… Here’s my question: We are the same age so naturally we had very similar gamine experiences. I only play single player games now, but my favorite gaming moments ever were the Gears 1 & 2, Halo 3 and Cod 4 online days. In my opinion I’ll never have a more fun time gaming than I did back then. Online gaming was new and fresh. Lobbies were full of idiots, and friends I made and still have today. Would you agree those were the best days of gaming for our generation? If so, do you think it will ever be topped for you?

Daddy Dilkers

Chris, Stay with me here. I’m horrified of heights and flying. I can do it, but I still have part of my monkey brain telling me it’s not okay. Last year I was flying from Vegas to Chicago early February when the worst fucking snowstorm I’ve seen in my 27 years was sweeping across the Midwest. The flight was sketchy as shit and the whole return trip was absolutely botched. For the flight, I was listening to Sacred. During a particularly turbulent part of the flight, an alarm begins to sound. Naturally, I freak out and nearly have a heart attack. I begin frantically looking around and after only a couple seconds realize I’m the only person even remotely concerned. That’s when I realize the alarm sound was part of the show. It was the episode where your fire alarm went off. This is the worst possible time this could have occurred for me. For a mere 3-4 seconds, I was overcome with palpable horror before realizing everything was fine and going back to sipping my coke and eating my pretzels. Thanks Southwest. Anyway, I’ve held on to this anecdote for a while hoping I’d tell you in person at a live event but knowing that the next show is trying to be in Europe I think I’ll have to stop listening and cut all ties to the podcast instead. Thanks for the quality content!

Bryan Creagh

Hey Chris, I am an avid listener of Sacred Symbols. You often speak so highly of Doom Eternal and use it for comparisons to other games. After hearing you bring Doom Eternal up for years I decided to play it for the first time 2 weeks ago. I have since beaten the game and really enjoyed it. The question I have for you is what would you be looking for in the next iteration of Doom? Movement was a big leap in Doom Eternal. What other leaps could the ID make?

Jake Nunley

Hello, my three dads. No question but wanted to let you know that I had engagement photos done and my fiancé did not shoot down the idea of me sporting my sacred symbol logo shirt. I gotta say it do be lookin spiffy though. Thank you beautiful boys for all you do, you make my life all the more entertaining.

M

I have not been able to continue listening to the show since I heard the discussion on the Nickmercs / Activision debacle. How the topic was handled was inaccurate and deeply troubling to me. However, I can sympathize that with how many topics you are asked to speak on each week you are bound to make mistakes. This is why you regularly make corrections on the show (something I commend). But I was further disturbed when the only time paid to the topic when it was revisited was to speak against those that were disturbed by your characterization of the issue. I absolutely oppose bullying and abusive behavior, and those that choose to express themselves in these ways do a disservice to the seriousness of this issue. However, to leave the conversation at that is, at best, inconsiderate of the other side and, at worst, an indirect defense of exploitative and violent behavior toward children. The fact is this: the problem Nickmercs, and a lot of others (myself included), have spoken of is overwhelmingly the targeting of minors for things like puberty blockers, reconstructive sex change surgeries, public drag shows, public school books depicting graphic sexual acts, and in my home state, the ratification in law of the state holding the right to indefinitely separate a parent from their child if they do not "affirm their chosen gender identity". I understand that this was something that Nickmercs clarified online. What my intention is in writing this is that you will make a correction on the show. I understand the power dynamics at play, but if this show is as impartial and fair as you all claim, then this correction would only be right in light of the kind of ethos you work to maintain.
