Hello! Welcome to the beginning of Last Stand's holiday content! First up is me, Dustin! A few weeks ago, I took your questions here on Patreon and put them together for this mailbag. Am I interested in getting a Steam Deck OLED? What are my 2024 plans professionally and personally? What is one of my most embarrassing moments?  After going to Japan, where do I want to travel next? I got my OLED Steam Deck last week and it’s fantastic, but it’s my first Deck. I’m not sure if I would have upgraded had I already owned one. Regardless, the screen is gorgeous. I’ve been playing it every day (mostly older AAA games, indies, JRPGs, and remote play). Happy Holidays, Dustin and Holly!

You referenced dune on sacred symbols. In the original frank Herbert novels I doubt frank was thinking about a.I. fighting a war against humans terminator style. He was more subtle than that. It was a philosophical point about humans over reliance on technology crippling them and making them more susceptible to bad actors. “Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.”

Dustin, you should listen to Machine Head’s cover of Hallowed Be Thy Name, or Cradle of Filth’s version. Both are superior songs. Maiden suck lol

Regarding the media blackout thing and YouTube: there is an excellent browser extension called BlockTube that will filter out specified keywords from YouTube when you're on the desktop site. Not sure if there are similar functions for the mobile/console/TV apps, but it's been a godsend for me to avoid any and all Persona content leading up to the P3R remake.

Much to my enjoyment, where I'm located, the Gamestop midnight launch scene is still very strong. Most recently I've gone to releases for Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, and Tears of the Kingdom which experienced significant turnouts (maybe 50+ people for each event). I imagine it has to do with the game in question, its audience, but also your geographical location.
