Development Update - 30.05.2026 (Patreon)

Hey everyone!

May has mostly been about transcribing scenes - coding them in, describing images, connecting everything together, setting variables, and checking if the whole thing actually holds up once it’s inside the game.

It’s a little hard to give an exact percentage, because I split scenes into smaller sub-scenes and sometimes break larger ones into multiple parts, but roughly speaking, around 85% of the game is now transcribed. I currently have 4 scenes left to transcribe.

So why did I focus so much on this?

Mainly because animations have been rendering in the background this whole time... and they still are. Some of the animations that were already finished had to be rendered again because I changed the lighting, noticed small mistakes, or found things I wasn’t happy with. That’s one of the reasons this part has taken longer than expected.

Usually, I leave this kind of work until the last possible moment, but this time I decided it was better to use the rendering time wisely. Since I couldn’t really move forward with new images while the animations were rendering, I focused on transcribing instead.

And honestly, it helps a lot.

Once a scene is already coded and structured, creating the images for it goes much faster. Recently, I finished one scene in about 3 days thanks to that. Without having it transcribed first, it probably would’ve taken me around a week and a half.

Going through the whole game this way also helps me catch different gaps, continuity issues, and scenes that need small adjustments. So even though Joshua has already written the entire Episode, I still have to bother him from time to time to fix something, add something, or adjust a scene so everything fits together properly in-game.

So yeah - May was not the flashiest month visually, but it was a very important one for actually putting the episode together and making sure the whole thing works as a game, not just as a script and a folder full of renders.
