We are SO happy you voted for us to do this! Lex had only listened to the first and last tracks of the album, and though they are epics themselves, it was amazing to be able to hear everything that was sandwiched in between!

You'll be surprised to hear which of the tracks was her favorite - curious to know what you guys think of this?

On another note, and as we spoke a little of this in the video:

THANK YOU for making this a safe space to share who we are and though it's rough to sometimes stay quiet in times we'd love to speak out, we hope you appreciate that we do it in order to give YOU all a safe space free from what you may already be much-too surrounded with.

With love and appreciation to ALL, wherever you are,Lex, Nick & Marley

My favorite album ever. HOORAY! I'm not sure if Lex will agree but my favorites are Can Utility and the Coastliners and Get Em Out By Friday. And of course Supper's Ready, especially The last 5 minutes. And also Watcher of the Skies. And Time Table is pretty amazing too. And Horizons... Did I miss anything? 🤔

Jonathan Zodin

Great album! I would love for you to try the live version of “Supper’s Ready” on Seconds Out. It sounds way better musically and Phil kills it on the lead vocal.

Colin

It's Wednesday. They have 2 more day's.

Really enjoyed your reaction to Foxtrot, thank you so much. Love you guys.

Tom Semler

As usual, a great reaction to this wonderful album. I’ll also second the comment above doing a reaction to the live version from Seconds Out. Also, Steve Hackett is touring in May in Europe. Tickets now on sale then again in the UK in the fall. Tom from Toronto

PS - the Musical Box also opened with Watcher of the Skies, and the also played Supper's Ready. Nick, you did Time Table and Get Em Out By Friday for me in a marathon a couple of years ago (already). I REALLY thought you had done Can Utility and the Coastliners too, but I can't find it. Shoot, I would have put that in a long time ago!

A good way to think of the 9/8 Suppers Ready section is Da bang Da Da Bang Da Da Da Bang

Ron Swirson

just some trivia about the album cover. 2 things are of note 1) the Nursery Cryme album cover is included in the background under the Genesis logo. Lastly, there is a lyric in Suppers Ready that says 'six saintly shrouded men, move across the lawn slowly, the seventh walks in front with cross held high in hand" if you look just below the word Foxtrot there are 6 shrouded men and a 7th with a cross. Just some cool Genesis trivia I thought I'd share with you all

Thank you for playing this album. It's a real epic! So many good songs. I lived in Berlin between 85 and 86 while the country was divided and the city too. I heard what happened when Berlin was officially made the unified capital of Germany. Some landlords anticipating a huge influx bureaucrats moving to the city, saw it as a golden opportunity to substantially increase rents. They evicted tenants in some cases using "heavy mobs" to get people out. The western side of the city became too expensive for people such as students, where a similar process was happening on the eastern side. Western students would pay more rent the low fixed rents from the Soviet times so East Germans were moved out of their homes in the eastern side of the city and relocated to different cities so that those from the west who had been pushed out of their rented apartments could move to a place in the eastern part of the city as they would pay more rent than the previous East German residents. Looking at what was happening in UK at this time, there was a lot of slum clearance of old terraced houses and people were moved to modern but cheaply made blocks of flats. Interestingly they also mention Harlow which was a new town one of many created to overcome the overcrowding in the big cities in this specific case London.

I always get exited when I see you reacting to Genesis! I was a teenager (I'm 63 now) when I heard my first Genesis album. It was their 1977 live album, "Seconds Out." It has a live version of Supper's Ready with Phil on vocals (PG had left in 1975) & for me it was & is the best version. Chester Thompson was their live second drummer but there is a live version of Cinema Show from their 1976 "A Trick of the Tail" tour, featuring Bill Bruford. "Second's Out" with its live Supper's Ready was so good I used to skive off school, pretending to be ill, so I could stay home & blast it out on my Dad's stereo in the lounge while my parents were at work!

I saw Steve Hackett live a few years ago. I live in Paignton, a seaside town in Devon, UK so couldn't believe it when he came to Torquay, just a few miles along the coast. The second half of the gig was the whole of Foxtrot with a long extended guitar solo at the end of Supper's Ready. The cherry on the icing of the cake was Firth of Fifth in the encore. I know you've mentioned your intention to see Steve live - do it, make sure you do it!

Nick is right, Brasil is a mind blowing movie, really good. Directed by Terry Gilliam of Monty Python .

I actually think these complex and often long prog tracks would be much better served as “SECOND TIME listen reactions” or maybe even third listens. It’s usually just too much to take in and “get it” on the first listen for most people. I’d be happy to watch your Second-time reactions because that’s when it seems to click. The landing sticks with listeners and reactors (like you who are adventurous enough to tackle these epic tracks) and analysis of the musicality and lyrics is potentially much more thoughtful and meaningful under circumstances like this. You could start a YouTube trend! We love you guys to pieces! By the way, I totally enjoyed your Monolith album reaction. NO ONE has dared to do that! It was the first time anyone has reacted to several of those tracks, and I’ve been watching reactions since just before you first started your channel when you moved to Denver about 5 or 6 years ago. As a deep Kansas and Genesis fan, I thank you and appreciate your dedication! Can’t wait for more!

Peter Gabriel is so tremendous in these earlier Genesis albums and the whole band is like multi vitamins of musical talent- the only other 22 min song I like is Echoes by Pink Floyd

Stephen Caruso

as for the land or property grab in Mexico it happens in America and in California they had a guy who waited til the thieves left and then changed the locks back and put the furniture on the street

I can't believe how lucky I (and everyone else) was; one month after Close To The Edge was released, Foxtrot came out. Within one month I had both these classic albums. What a year 1972 was! This album is perfect, but Can-Utility and The Coastliners is the one that gets me most. It always has. I'm also very pleased that you immersed yourselves into the Get 'Em Out By Friday story; it really completes the experience. You could say I'm happy as fish, and gorgeous as geese! (And wonderfully clean in the morning)

Michael Gray

This is such a great album. Happy this was picked!
