So glad you two connected with this album. And a tip of the hat tp Philip and Stephen for our unexpected mind meld! There’s a reason this cover art is so reminiscent of Joni Mitchell’s Blue album - the music here is also very confessional, very emotional. This was everyone’s choice of an album to play after a breakup back in the day - for men and women. My favorite song is False Faces, which is the culmination of everything that came before, mirroring the first song with full orchestration. And I think Nether Lands does refer to the album’s theme. “Nether” means below the surface. And every song digs deeper. The opening song is about his home … and in the last song he sings “I need a home.” Great reaction!

JK

And a double album, which is always a harder choice on Patreon, where we would have to request one disc at a time. But I agree - it’s his best!

Karen Edwards Herrmann

I got to see him twice and this is one of my all time favorite albums and singer songwriter. This song is so moving. Such a poet...."I stood at a fork in the road, the choices were clear....

Elaine

Hello everyone. First time here on Patreon. Big Dan fan so I had to splurge to be able to check out the reaction. My thanks to those who requested this. It’s hard to pick a favorite album because I’ve followed him from the start and frankly love all of his stuff. An album that is rarely mentioned is “Windows and Walls” and one of these days, when my budget allows, I’m hoping to be able to do a power pair and include that title track. I have a very soft spot for the elderly and I like to remind people they exist.

JK

Great suggestion!

Stephen Caruso

this time I disagree this is his finest

JK we have been mind melding for years brother!

Stephen Caruso

So glad you guys did it ! some of the songs actually choke me up- my brother bought this new in 1977 when I was 19 and it was so amazing we played it a hundred times

Stephen Caruso

also Elton John did both Caribou and Rock of the Westies there- the Medley you reacted to for me was recorded at Caribou Ranch

Mike

Try “Ghosts” next, from “The Innocent Age.”
