This was a special one for us! To learn extra trivia and facts from an album we've adored for years was priceless!

Almost as much as the fact that we heard things we'd never heard before!

Enjoy the small bonus feature at the end... it was with a lot of love!

Jump in and share the moment... we hope you enjoy as much as we did making it! :)

Love,

Nick, Lex and Marley

I don't think it would be weird if they had chose a different cover for the album, because we wouldn't know. Whatever else they came out with would simply be, the cover. That does seem to be one of the few things they all agreed on though, they saw that cover and all said, that's it. The first part of this documentary I hasn't seen before. I had seen the one with the singer. I've often wondered if she was just paid a flat fee at the time she did the work or, if she got any royalties from the album sales. It could go either way, depending on what they agreed to.

Great comment, Buddy. From what I remember, Clare Torry eventually got some writers credit. She, after all, improvised that amazing vocal composition with just a few suggestions. Thanks and All the Best in 2022 🥂!

Fun to watch Dark Side of the Moon synced up with Wizard of Oz. It’s uncanny how it fits. Watching this today in parts. Brilliant. Excellent selection! Thanks ✨🤪

Greybeard Music Man

Brilliant selection Nick and Lex! I haven't seen this doc in years, and it has reminded me of the many many reasons I love this album. Hope you all had a great Christmas, and have a Happy New Year! Looking forward to a another great year of enjoying great music with you 2, and many others. Peace and love, Greybeard!

You're going to have more time soon ;)

Check out Brand X, check out their song Malaga Virgen. This is off their second album, Moroccan Roll (1977). This was a side band Phil Collins played with while he was still in Genesis. The drum work Phil did with this band is some of his best I think. Brand X is a jazz fusion group. The lineup is: John Goodsall – guitar Robin Lumley – keyboards, piano, Fender Rhodes electric piano, Moog synthesizer, Clavinet Percy Jones – bass, marimba Phil Collins – drums Morris Pert – percussion

Very interesting, this was new to me. Doesn't it make a record more valuable, if you get such inside informations by the band? My first ever Floyd song was Money, but I didn't know the album. I really got into Pink Floyd with Wish you were here, still my favourite album of them. Then I bought Dark Side... but it was a little harder to get into it, for me it didn't have the flow as Wish ... But both are great albums, just different. Interesting fact is, that Pink Floyd (and other bands) used to play parts of songs or whole songs in concerts, before they were put on future albums, for example Tim has a live recording of the Wish you were here tour and they already played pieces of Animals. Fun fact: what do Germans buy for Christmas - right - Pink Floyd, Dark Side of The Moon re-entered at Nr 78 on the latest album charts, followed by The Wall, somewhere at 9X ....

Part 2 also very interesting. in part 1 you talked about an interesting subject: did other musicians note, what others released ? In my magazine many of these classic albums are reviewed with lots of informations of the artists, I will have to read again, if for example Yes talked about Pink Floyd or Genesis about King Crimson and so on ... Fun question in the end: Was Us and them your favourite song, when you where in the car singing along to Floyd: Us (Nick and Alexia knowing the text) and them (the others, not knowing) ? :-)

I too, still get giant goosebumps when I hear "Great Gig in the Sky." Clare Torry puts her heart and seemingly every bit of her soul into that vocal. Transcendent.

From my early to mid 20’s i was obsessed with pink floyd. Bought several of their albums and listened to them all over and over again. Darkside of the moon is one of my favorite albums of all time. Watching this with yoi guys took me back to that time of my life. Love how music does that! Thanks for this video! Take care my friends!

NicknLex

Thanks for watching and for everything! Sending love for the New Year! Lex

They naturally probably did Great Gig in the Sky live umpteen million times, but check out "The Delicate Sound of Thunder" tour from the late 1980s (during which I saw them live for the first and only time, unfortunately without Roger Waters). The live version of Great Gig in the Sky features three singers, and they do tremendous justice to the original while adding their own individual flavor.

Rudi Becker

They already did Nuclear Burn of Unorthodox Behaviour - my personal favourite of Brand X

Buddy Stewart

Yeah, I heard it back in May when they did it. They haven't done any more Brand X since then.

Great Scott

I think you said you did not ever see PF live (which is most of us anyway). But I can strongly recommend Brit Floyd as giving perhaps the best PF experience possible nowadays. I can also strongly recommend Aussie Floyd (Australian Pink Floyd Show) as an excellent representation of a PF show, albeit with a few Aussie tweaks (kangaroo instead of a pig, etc.). I try to catch both shows whenever they're in my area. you should too (Everyone)

Great Scott

Brit Floyd is starting a tour over the next few months -- this may be your chance to see them.

There are only a handful of albums I've owned in multiple formats over the years - LP, 8-Track, Cassette, CD. Dark Side of the Moon was one of them. I just looked it up and it was on Billboard's album chart for 778 weeks!
