Enjoy this less-complex road down CCR's Green River!

Hey everyone!

So we decided to go down a less travelled road: The 60's!

Okay, okay... late sixties. 😜

We hope you enjoy this less complex ride down CCR's Green River.

Much love,Nick, Lex, Marley and Lu

I don’t see any video access. Am I missing something?

Nice stretch for your reactions. Complex ≠ better, necessarily. My favorite quote re CCR: “Their music is as contrived as the rain.”

Scott Anderson

Great reaction very Americana all these songs sounded great on a jukebox back in the day. There was a 50s style diner called the Hi d Ho. It was nice to hear the deeper tracks again. I listened to music at night on a little Am radio most people had a transistor radio it ran on a DC battery had a horrible little speaker and an ear piece. The sound was horrific but that’s all there was unless you had a record player and those were not great either. Great reaction and fun to hear the whole album. I’m ready to hear all about the DAN!

My main experience with CCR was their Chronicle greatest hits album. Thank you for the listen to the whole "Green River" album, since I got to hear songs I had never heard before. I am an old dude trying to learn guitar, and I will definitely spend some time improvising over the "Tombstone Shadow" blues outing. Every town seems to have its diner still trying to hang on from their heyday in the 50s, 60s, and early 70s. They are still a great place to have a cup of coffee (or 20) and read the paper in the morning. Oh, and yes. Before boomboxes, Walkmen cassettes, MP3 players, iPods, and smart phones, it was de rigueur to park, open the doors of the car, and blast the AM radio until your battery died and you had to call AAA from a nearby pay phone. Good times. Back to CCR - I hear The Band and Derek and the Dominos in there along with other bands you mentioned. Thanks again!

Love, love, love The Band. Unfortunately, I don’t think they’d be quite up N&L’s alley.

Nick, the song I believe you keep thinking of is "Fortunate Son". It has become the de facto Vietnam war movie song. The song points out the inequalities of war in that kid from wealthy, privileged families didn't have to fight the war, it was middle class and lower income families whos kids were being shipped off to die. John Fogerty's songs are refered to as "swamp" music because they sound like the deep south, but in reality they were kids from the bay area of California. Their next two albums, "Willie and the Poor Boys", and epecially "Cosmos Factory" were great. During that three year run from '68 - '70 I don't remember any other artist besides the Beatles getting as much airplay. Interesting fact, they never had a number one single, but had five number two's.

I have a great memory of this album upon its release. I was in high school and the most popular Australian music magazine at the time “Go Set” had a competition you could enter to win a copy of CCR’s new album “Green River” upon its release. You had to cut out the entry from the magazine & post in. I sent one entry and a classmate, who was a diehard fan, sent in about 20-30. From memory there was around 10 or 15 winners selected Australia wide. By chance I won an album, my mate didn’t, was livid and held it against me for a very long time. I still have the album and love their music, although “Cosmos Factory” would be my favourite. You cannot be expected to understand the effect of CCR on us teenagers at the time. It was great music to be played at our school dances. It was a great time in music and it was fun as well. Thanks for another great reaction.

The song Bad Moon Rising is the source of one of the most mis-heard lyrics of all time. Where the lyric reads, "There's a bad moon on the rise", all too many people would swear that they heard "There's a bathroom on the right"...

Lot of my favorites for KARAOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was my 1st time hearing it, it's not something I would put on a playlist, but it's still was good.

Hi Mark, do I understand right, that you live in Australia? I just wrote the other day, when I read a comment of a subscriber of the channel from Capetown/South Africa, that now 4 continents are covered, only Australia missing. I love CCR since my first listening in 1970, my brother had several studio an one live album. You would be laughing, if you could've heard us sing along, because for Germans, even learning english at school, John Fogerty's accent was almost "un-understandable". Another funny story about competition winning is, that in the late 70s, we had a radio show - LP Hitparade - and for placing my favourite LPs higher, I usually wrote 3 - 4 postcards (last century voting, I guess you remember), one having my girlfriends name on it. Since she didn't listen to the show, she was surprised twice, beeing told by schoolmates, that she won a LP ..... I even remember, what it was, because you could put your wish on the postcard. So she got Pink Floyd Wish you were here and Styx cornerstone. So what other music than CCR did you listen to in your youth ? greetings from Germany, Rudy

Rudi Becker

yeah ... so funny.... just like some germans, listening to SNAP! - I got the power, thinking they sang about a person named AGATHE BAUER ... don't pronounce the "th" as "th" but as "t", I guess then it makes sense ... whenever we hear the song, we love to sing the wrong version :-)

Debra Brabenec

I don't know that I've ever listened to a whole studio album by CCR, only a greatest hits collection, I think. I don't think of them as a headphones type of band, except for my two favorites, "Susie Q" and "Born on the Bayou". I enjoyed this, though! I didn't know they did "Night Time is the Right Time". I knew the song by Ray Charles, especially from an episode of The Cosby Show: https://youtu.be/NqivLvvg_Mo

Hi Rudi, Yes I am in Brisbane, Australia. Have lived here all my life (turning 70 later this year, so grew up with all this great music). I have all the original CCR albums and still enjoy listening to their music. Yes we also had a similar radio show competition. A friend and myself would enter, first in our own names and won several albums, then enter in other friends names and in total won around 20 albums each. That was big for the times for us. As for other music we listened to, I could go on and on. We always had the radio on constantly to catch any new songs. Some favourites were; The Yardbirds, Spencer Davis Group, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Moody Blues, Manfred Mann, The Easybeats, The Hollies, The Animals, Donovan, The Doors, The Loved Ones and many others especially Australian bands.

Thomas Zanot

Really enjoyed this. These songs are on my playlist, agree very simple beats and guitars, but very nice to listen to. A more upbeat album by CCR in my opinion is Cosmo’s Factory. Leads off with a very upbeat, more complex song is “Ramble Tamble”. It’s over 7 minutes long! Also “I Heard it Through the Grapevine”, by Marvin Gaye. Their cover of that song is over 11 minutes!

B Mac

One of my favorite bands for karaoke! John Fogerty is in my vocal range.

B Mac

Fogerty will be playing in my area in a few weeks.

This was cool guys you will not get more iconic late 60's than CCR! They played at Woodstock and John Fogerty had some funny stories about that. They were absolutely huge back in their heyday. I don't think too many bands were as popular or still so popular for only really being together for only 5 years!
