We wanted to continue to explore the life of Musical Legend Jim Morrison with this Documentary. There's so much we didn't know!

It might feel a little modern since it felt like an episode of a TV show but the information was still very interesting.

We hope you enjoy!

Much love,Nick, Lex & Marley

Great job. Jim died July 3, 1971. We may never know whether he died in the tub or, as bartenders at a club state, in the bathroom stall of the club … and the dealers carried him home and placed him in the tub. Two years previous to the day (July 3, 1969) Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones died in a pool. He was also 27. Within 3 years of Jim’s death, his girlfriend Pam, died of an overdose. Sad - the loss of talent and a voice for a generation. Thanks for the reaction ✨😝

You're reaction really good. I am not a big fan of the Doors, but then again, I never really was exposed to it... I remember back in elementary school (in the 80s), it was my friend's favorite band and I did not like it... I mean now, I know their biggest it and I think they are good, but I never looked for more... The documentary was full of info, especially for someone like me who barely knew anything about it... Fun fact: I did go to the tombstone in Paris, but because the friends I went to Paris with wanted to go see it: 25 years later, I am glad I went 😀

Nick and Lex thanks so much for playing this video it was very good. It was very revealing that Jim started drinking in his childhood in the same way that the king of country music Hank Williams did. Hank always like Jim wanted to be a writer and in his very short life wrote timeless great songs before dying of a combination of drugs and booze in the back of a car on New Year's Day heading to his next show. That's why it's commonly thought Hank was the first rock star due to where and how he lived and died at age 29. Hank like Jim burned very brightly in their very short wild chaotic lives. Both left their mark and made great art before leaving us!

The Grateful Dead have a famous song called Dark Star and Morrison fit that notion as well or more than anyone. From The Doors first album--one of the greatest debut albums ever--there's the mystery of death and menace which was completely shocking and unsettling for conventional people at that time. Not surprisingly the social dynamic degenerated into polarized camps of "us vs them!"

It's hard to believe now, but The Doors and especially Morrison were viewed as a societal threat and in the vanguard of the counterculture. Jim's father was an admiral in the Navy and on the surface of things the two would seem quite opposite. However, having been around military people like me, you see that same dark focused energy and vibe that Jim projects. When watching him in concert--which is fascinating-- there's that striking solid concentration of emotional power that may erupt from time to time into his well known famous screams. Jim's father in the 1980's said of his son: "He was an uncompromising genius." Genius on paper (IQ) used to be 160, but has now been lowered to 140 which officially qualifies Jim at 149. In high school, the class read James Joyce's difficult novel Ulysses. The teacher much later said that only Morrison understood the book. Jim was so special and yet in the end, all his darkness closed in on him and was his undoing. Gone but not forgotten.........

Like you (and Steely Dan) said, “Living hard will take its toll.” 🤯😜

Some might be wondering how the band's name came to be. Well it was Jim the luminous one who picked the name. Morrison was reading the book titled The Marriage of Heaven and Hell by English poet, painter and printmaker William Blake who died roughly 200 years ago. In there he came upon this: "If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite." If you haven't heard before, now you know how the band adopted such a unique name. In a similar way, it was Syd Barrett that chose the very original name for his band Pink Floyd which was derived from combining the names of two old bluesman. As always, fun stuff......

Man I had just come home from a Deep Purple concert when hearing about Morrison's death. It was disheartening for sure, but it wasn't a shocker. I saw The Doors live twice, and let me tell ya Jim was everything he was cracked up to be. Oh the younger days, I was a little too wild, but the experiences lasted a lifetime...lol.
