Hi to our beloved La Familia, Casa Nostra & Dan members!

This month for our second exclusive album we've chosen an album that has had a deep impact in each of our lives, so this is NOT a reaction! It's so much more than that and we hope you'll enjoy this re-listening experience with us as we dive deep into our personal memories and share them with you.

Lex tried focusing on the bass and drums more, as she's focused more on vocals and guitar in her previous listens. Nick rediscovers a song he'd sort of forgotten about and takes back his "overplayed" comment in a specific song! ;)

This was an absolute blast and we are SO blessed to be able to share this with our NicknLex Family! Truly, thank you all for being here and for your support in everything we've done the last couple of years.

With love always, Lex, Nick & Marley

Thanks for covering this album :) This Zeppelin album influenced me more than any other. At an early age, I owned the LP, 8-track and cassette versions of this album. John Bonham's drumming was a huge influence on my playing as a teenager. I was constantly trying to get that Bonham bass drum sound.

One of the bands I played in focused on Zeppelin covers for a while, one of which was Black Dog. Musicians have puzzled over the timing of the drums, bass and guitar coming in after Robert Plant's vocal solo during the verses. If you listen closely, there is no set timing, per se. What determines the timing is Bonham's one-count stick click, which you can barely hear after each verse ends. "Click," . . . . and the band comes in immediately afterward. It's difficult to hear, but it's there.

As our rock station always said in our town before playing a block of Led Zeppelin - ," Time to get the LED OUT ! " Woot ! Woof ! (Marley!)❤️

This was so much fun Nick and Alexia! I'm more than happy for you to listen to your favourite albums on Patreon with us. I like that you get to discover parts of songs that you hadn't heard before; as you say, the headphones are a MUST! Although I grew up around Led Zeppelin, initially I resisted them as I was so much into The Beatles, then The Moody Blues, Yes, Genesis, The Strawbs, ELP and others. However in 1973 I heard 'Over The Hills and Far Away' from Houses Of The Holy and I was hooked. That album persuaded me to re-assess Zeppelin and I bought albums II and IV. I soon became a huge fan and saw them at Earl's Court in London in 1975. What always astounds me about this band is that we have two seasoned session musicians, Page and Jones (albeit still only in their mid-twenties) who were respected in the UK recording industry, asking two young whippersnappers, Plant and Bonham (barely twenty years of age, playing in obscure West Midlands bands) to join them as The New Yardbirds to play a few gigs in the US to honour a contract. The rest was history but this was a band of four equals, each of them crucial to the overall aesthetic of Led Zeppelin. I must just say what a legend Robert Plant has become, he has still been making incredible music right up to the present day at age 74, with Alison Krauss and his other projects The Shapeshifters and Band Of Joy. This album is a work of art, and it was a pleasure to listen to it again with you both. See you on the next album re-listen!

it was late 1971 in long Island NY and our stepdad bought a 1971 Plymouth Duster for $2200 and it had no a/c and an am radio so he bought an 8 track and my brother's friends helped him install it under the dash and also the coaxial speakers in the back.. he joined the Columbia tape club for 99cents and got 8 choices in the mail.. so he popped in Led Zep ZoSo in there and played Black Dog which was totally not his style he liked jazz etc but it sounded great on his new 8 track and we all loved it right away..

Yes! This album is part of my DNA and we are truly related because I can see it’s part of yours as well. Euphoria and sounds of thunder and Lex’s tears 😭 made it a special listen. Glad you liked the Joni tribute. Good memory - you had so many details. It makes a monumental album even more touching. Thank you for this 😽❤️‍🔥.

I actually only knew 2 songs: SWTH & Black Dog, although I didn't know that Black Dog was Led Zep. This was really good! The 1st time I heard STWH, I was at my friend's place and she was listening to it, we were 10-12 years old, but the album was already "old". I am not sure if it sge had the album or a mix tape...

One of my favourite albums of all time. One of my favourite bands, as well. This one is awesome from start to finish. Robert Plant was and will always be one of my favourite rock vocalists. One the best front men, for sure. The bluesy rock that Zeppelin churned out on a regular basis is unmatched, imo. I bought this album as a teenager and went home and listened to it with my headphones. I've heard this album so many times and it never gets old. Cameron Crowe wanted to include Stairway in its entirety in his film "Almost Famous" and you can watch that scene on the DVDs bonus material (and on YouTube) and play the song yourself to the scene and it's just incredible. A must watch. I love how Black Dog sets the tone and opens the album in a massive way. "The Battle of Evermore" and "Going to California" are standouts for me, but every song is special. It was fun listening to it with you both.

Just saw your YouTube post of Stairway to Heaven and it has inspired me to come here and spend time with you listening to the whole album. I've heard this many times, but not very recently. Even though I've heard some of these songs SO many times, I'm up for another spin with them and looking forward to hearing your thoughts about them. I think there will be a lot of "sssss" from you two on this one!

Love the guitar tone on Rock and Roll. I love hearing bass prominently, too. It was Yes' style to make it loud and that's one of the reasons they're my favorite band. This remaster sounds great. I'm hearing a bunch of things I don't remember. I was really noticing the bass in the later part of Stairway. When Misty Mountain Hop started I thought "oh, man, I've heard this SO many times...", but then after about 30 seconds I was already having a blast. All these songs have such cool, interesting rhythms. And the variety of sounds and rhythms and vibes are just fantastic. Woo! The synthesizer on Four Sticks is awesome! Is that Zeppelin's first use of one? Thanks for sharing this experience! You talked about stuff I've never thought about this music. Fun! I would thoroughly enjoy more of you reviewing albums that you already know. How about the entirety of Wish You Were Here? With all the awesome segues between songs.

NicknLex

Yes we love reviewing ones we know, too! Wish You Were Here is definitely on our to do list!! :) Thanks for the love!
