I was wondering what happened to it. Glad it has a place to live with all your other great reactions.

JK

Scott, have you ever seen Rick Moranis do Michael McDonald on SCTV? One of their funniest videos.

Scott Anderson

Are you talking about the ride like the wind video where he keeps dashing and saying got such a long way to go? Yeah that’s super hilarious. I remember when that first came out.

JK

Yes! He races into the studio, barely in time to sing his one line in that Christopher Cross song, collects his paycheck and runs off to his next gig. Perfect.

Micheal McDonald, proud St Louis area product (Ferguson MO, long before the riots). Saw him play in 2006 in St Louis with Steely Dan, a warm welcome for the home town hero, so cool to actually SEE and HEAR him sing those iconic backup vocals on some tunes, and if I remember they let him just take the lead vocal on Peg by himself. Great memorable show on a nice summer night.

Christopher Cross' Sailing song, and Ride Like the Wind; along with constant parodies of MMcD led directly to an early internet parody that started the whole "Yacht Rock" thing. Its on YT in amateur quality. Its funny at times, in a high school kind of way. And of course Steely Dan gets dragged into it by virtue of their association with MMcD. There is a pretty funny part where the whole Eagles vs Steely Dan "feud" is explored.
