So, children...the fade-out is actually a "true throw-back" to 1970's -80's R&B, and esp jazz-pop. Less-so straight pop. Sometimes a 1/3 to a half of an album had fade-outs, a fair % while active. Lol Btw I'm not a fan but since I heard it so much in my prime music days it rarely affects my enjoyment.
