If you want to hear more of the backstory:
The girls were in town a day early for AEW's first time in Detroit. Marti and I are so grateful to our friends for stopping by and helping us raise money for the Ruth Ellis Center for LGBTQ youth right here in Detroit. I HATE asking people for favors, especially for such a weird request. ("Hey, wanna come sit in an inflatable pool in my kitchen?") 😅 But they did not hesitate to help!
We did a little trade off with Rosa, and I was able to do her Taco Vlog earlier that day. (I took her to Los Altos!) Allie and Ruby couldn't fully get in the pool, but we made it work. And we were excited to eat sushi and catch up after the stream. 🥰
Watching this stream back... holy shit it was chaotic. 😅 This was by far the most stressful HGT we've done yet, but I think it's solely because it had the most people and the most moving parts. Literally... there's a part in the middle where Rosa was leaving, Allie & Ruby were coming in, Chris the gear maker was also here, Marti was in the living room saying bye to Rosa and Chris, and I was in the pool spinning the wheel for prizes. 😂😂😂 I was literally this meme:
(Fun Fact: Marti and I have this guy as pins for our ring jackets now)
This is the only HGT so far where Marti and I have had additional guests, and I didn't even announce them until the day of just in case there were issues. We know all too well how things (& moods) can change last second.
With Thunder Rosa, I wanted to make sure her flight got in on time. With Allie and Ruby, in addition to getting into town on time, I wanted to make sure they were still up for it since they were coming in later. So I didn't announce them at all. They were surprises during the stream. I knew they wanted to do it, but I also know how it feels to be traveling all day, finally getting into town, and just being utterly exhausted and wanting to decompress before a big show. So I wanted to give them a way out without feeling bad, just in case.
BUT, they all came through! And many laughs were had. There are definitely parts of the stream where I can tell one of us was tired and/or zoned out. 😂
There are a lot of things I'd love to improve for future streams with guests. Placement being number one, lol. The shape of the pool prevents everyone being in the front of it. People being in the back on the bench isn't bad, but it does get tricky when I have to run the computer and then I unintentionally block whoever's sitting in the back.
All in all, it was worth the chaos. Thank YOU for making these streams a success! Marti and I have so much fun doing them, no matter how stressful they can be in the moment, and we would love to have more guests on in the future. And thank you to everyone who helped us raise money for a great cause! We raised $3,632 during this stream, (including Ruby's contribution afterward) but in the end our total donated to Ruth Ellis Center was $4,500! 🥰🥰🥰
Currently on my weekly Twitch streams, we are working on our Bit Goal to determine the next one!
Stay classy out there my friends,
🖤 AK
