Pay attention: battle mechanics suffered changes in v.0.21. Battle tutorial for v.0.21 and higher will be uploaded a bit later.

Turns

There are two participants in a battle – you and your enemy.

Your turn is first. You may use any attacking skill to deal damage to the enemy. From the beginning of the game you have the Dark Ball skill. If you click on the Dark Ball icon below the screen, you may deal 1 damage to your enemy’s heath if your attack is successful.

When your attack is successful, it not only deals damage to enemy, but it also prevents the enemy from attacking you. After every successful attack it’s your turn again, so if you have a row of successful attacks, the enemy may die without having a chance to attack you at all.

If your attack fails, or you choose not attack the enemy but defend yourself and restore your energy instead, the enemy has a chance to attack.

The battle lasts until one of the participants loses all his health (the red bar above the head of each fighter).

Energy in a battle

Pay attention to the level of your energy (the blue bar above the head of each fighter). The amount of your remaining energy influences your chance to make a successful attack or dodge or block the enemy’s attack. The enemy’s amount of energy left does the same for him.

Example: You have full energy (10 of 10) and your enemy has 0 energy. That means you have the highest probability of dealing damage to him. You also have the highest chance to escape his attack.

Example: You have 0 energy and your enemy has 10 energy. That means all your attempts to attack the enemy have a high probability of failing. It also means the enemy will have its best odds to deal damage to you. The Mental Shield would increase your chances to defend yourself even in such situations, but it works better with full energy.

Some advice for a battle:

1) Don’t let your energy fall below 5. Use Mental Shield to restore the energy each time it falls down.

2) If your enemy has full energy, don’t attack him. Defend for a turn or two, and when the enemy spends some energy and has less then a half left, it’s the best time to attack.

3) If the enemy takes a defensive stance, your attack will probably fail. Use this turn to restore some of your energy instead.

4) If the enemy draws a magic circle on the ground, that means he is conducting a ritual to restore his health. Attack him to prevent him from healing.

5) Don’t use costly spells often.

6) Some spells need the enemy to be stunned for better chance of success. Stun the enemy with your Stun Charm skill before you use the Dark Theft or the Death Hand.

The enemies:

The red demon in a grey shirt is the weakest enemy.

The red demon in a yellow shirt is the average enemy.

The red demon in a black shirt is a strong enemy.

The biter demon in the police uniform is the strongest enemy at the moment.

Oh, and you may meet Jessica, but if you are skilled enough, it’s more fun than trouble.

Skills:

1) The Dark Ball - deals 1 damage to enemy health. It may deal 2 or 3 damage on higher skill levels. Basic attack skill. You can learn it in the library.

2) The Dark Storm – deals 3 damage to enemy health. It may deal 4 or 5 damage on higher skill levels. The basic chance of success is higher than the Dark Ball. It’s good to use to kill an enemy who has last 3-5 health points. You can learn it in the library.

3) The Stun Charm – stuns the enemy for 1 turn. It may stun the enemy for 2 or 3 turns on higher skill levels. All the attacks on the stunned enemy are successful. The stunned enemy can’t attack you of defend or restore health or enemy. It is highly recommended to use the Stun Charm before you use the Dark Theft skill or the Death Hand skill on the enemy. You can learn it in the library.

4) The Mental Shield. Has a high chance to defend you from enemy’s attack. It also restores 3 of your energy. It may restore 4 or 5 of your energy on higher skill levels. You can learn it in the library.

5) The Dark Theft. Teleports the target item into your inventory. It may be very useful during the battle with Jessica. It is highly recommended to use the Stun Charm before you use this skill. You can learn it in the library.

6) The Death Hand. This skill is a variation of the Dark Theft. After you’ve learned about demon’s anatomy from Fiddle, you are able to concentrate on a demon’s heart and transport it from the demon’s chest to your inventory. The demon dies. It is highly recommended to use the Stun Charm before you use this skill. You may learn this skill from Fiddle in the police station after you finish one of his quests.

7) The Hypnosis. This skill allows you to intrude into the mind of a sleeping person, and make a hypnotic suggestion. The person will follow the suggestion you made after they wake up. The level of this skill is also very important during the battle in someone’s mind – it influences the chance to make a successful attack in a mind battle or escape the enemy’s attack. You can learn this skill from Cherry the witch.

Sage advice. I'm really looking forward to using Hypnosis more often.

Deonast

Thanks for going to the effort to write this up. Should help some players and those new to the game. I even learnt something and I thought I knew everything ;)

Interesting ... Dear LH and you plan to later change the combat system? let's translate HP MP and damage from a single digit to a dozen? those. 100 MP but also possible damage for example from 30 to 50. and with each level raster% of the hasty application of the skill and its minimum and maximum damage. Thought about this? Thank you. I'm also curious to know what Deonast and Hemlock think about this.

I really want to answer your question but it looks like I can't understand you. I even send your message to the other members of my team, but they said your English is broken and they can't understand you too. If you try to explain your idea again in other words, maybe I'll understand what you wanted to say and can give you an answer.

Regnareg

Of course, I understand that my English is terrible))). And so once again, in other words - the system of seeing the battle. at the moment, the unit of health and energy of the characters and demons is within 10, as well as inflicting damage to the enemy.Have you thought about improving (complicating, changing) the system of fighting in the future ?. as an example: the health units of the level 1 demon of 100 health units. and his skills deal damage to him from 10 to 30 and from 30 to 50. and each skill level increased maximum damage, minimal damage and % successful application of the skill. It if it is short. I'll try to bring my thoughts to the Excel spreadsheet in the near future and skin to see that you understand the essence.

Lurking Hedgehog

Well, I think I unrderstand your suggestion. I use small numbers because they are easier to calculate. It's easier for the player to understand the sutiation in a battle and to calculate how many times the player needs to attack to kill an enemy. I also want to point out that in the current combat the level of every skill affects the chance of successful attack and it also affects the amount of damage you deal to the enemy. Actually, your idea is interesting, but the game now needs new scenes on the first place, so I don't plan to change the battle balance for the several next months. But I'll probably come back to this in future.

Regnareg

Yes, I asked about the prospects, understanding that this is not a matter of the next updates. Thanks for clarifying.
