FoundryVTT V13 & Rethinking Packs (Patreon)

Hi everyone, I'm doing a post about the future of scenario and campaign packs. Here we're going to talk about FoundryVTT, but also about the redesign of the map packs I'm doing for Call of Cthulhu scenarios and campaigns.----1/ FoundryVTT V13The current Beta packs have been revised to be functional on both FoundryVTT V12 and V13. ✅This concerns :Amidst the Ancient Trees https://www.patreon.com/posts/111553042Edge of Darkness https://www.patreon.com/posts/highlight-edge-2-130867037Horror on the Orient Express https://www.patreon.com/posts/beta-horror-on-130253562I will also do the same for The Two-headed SerpentAs far as V13 is concerned, don't forget to update your various modules, otherwise you're going to run into a lot of bugs! There are still a lot of third-party modules that are not yet ready for V13. So maybe you should stay with V12. It's up to you.----2/ All the previous packs in preparation for FoundryVTT Many old scenario packs are not prepared on FoundryVTT : This is the case for :Beyond the Mountains of MadnessThe Tatters of the KingReign of TerrorThe HauntingBurning StarsGateways to TerrorDead Light and other Dark TurnsThe Lightless BeaconI'll certainly be taking a week off soon to prepare the previous scenario packs and campaigns on FoundryVTT, in V12 and V13.There will be no map releases during this week. But in compensation, I'll be giving access to the old scenarios newly prepared for FoundryVTT until the end of June. Please note that this does not affect The Masks of Nyarlathotep, as its remaster will begin soon and will naturally be prepared on FoundryVTT.The old Masks Pack will be withdrawn from sale.----3/ Redesigning packsI'm going to rethink the content of the different map packs:• As we saw earlier, the packs will all include a version prepared for Foundry V12&V13• No more .JPEGIt has become relatively instinctive to use .WebP files, which considerably lighten the maps and make it easier to use your Virtual tabletop. The differences between WebP and JPEG are so small as to be invisible to the naked eye. The fact that more and more maps are being produced in a large format is also a step in the right direction. So I'm thinking of removing the .JPEG files, which are no longer really useful.• No more Gridded MapsThe main use of my maps is on the Virtual Tabletop. Very few people are here to print maps. In which case, when I'm asked, I always say the same thing: Print Gridless Maps! Why ?- The maps come in too many different formats for your grids to have the same scale.- In CoCthulhu, there are very few rules that use distances, and therefore grid markers, it's mainly about the range of weapons, but that's all. We're not in a game with a tactical dimension like DnD, for example.- What's more, as in real life, there's enough detail in my maps to estimate a distance of 10m, 20m or 30m. In real life, a policeman doesn't have a ruler to measure whether his weapon hits or not. So go by instinct.- For those who use miniatures, removing the grid from a printed map avoids the inconsistencies of a miniature a little larger than the scale of the location. And remember, we don't care if a figurine isn't exactly the right size. Even if it's a little too big, it still gives your player positional information.----The ultimate aim of all this :This should make my packs easier to use and understand. This should avoid having to download packs of several GB for a campaign.----In a few words:
• The new packs are prepared for Foundry V12&V13• Previous packs will also be prepared for Foundry V12&V13• JPEG files will be removed, leaving only WebP files, which are more operational• Gridded Maps will be removed from the packs.Let me know what you think in the comments section!-----Have fun, and thank you for your support!Damien - Lovemaps
