I can understand why you say the eowin faramir thing felt forced. It was unnecessary for the theatrical which is why those scenes between them are extended cuts. For those who read it we already understood that the two great kingdom's of Gondor and Rohan had a long history and that boromir faramir and eomer eowin and theodrid would have all known of each other. Faramir was the second son somewhat in his brother's shadow, lost his parents and brother. Eowin was the niece lost her parents uncle and cousin felt a hit caged. It was very natural that it a time of great loss and having suffered great wounds they would come together to find comfort in that moment. Didn't feel forced to me but I understand from your perspective why it did lol

And loved loves this reaction by the way. You might enjoy watching lotr appendicies. There's hours of footage for each film showing every aspect of the production etc.
