The surface of this cloak seems to constantly shift between hide, scales, and feather.

Beastskin. While wearing this cloak, your body and mind gain more animalistic features. You gain a +1 bonus to your AC, and you can speak with any beast as though you share a language. Additionally, whenever you finish a short or long rest you may choose one of the following adaptations to benefit from: 

Terrestrial: You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight or smell as your senses are heightened.

Aquatic: You gain a swim speed equal to your walking speed due to small fins that protrude from your limbs.

Aerial: You take half the amount of falling damage as small feathers slow your descent.

Rapid Evolution. As a bonus action you can amplify the benefits of your chosen adaptation for 1 hour. 

Terrestrial: Your walking speed is doubled as your limbs grow more powerful.

Aquatic: You can breathe underwater as gills appear along your neck.

Aerial: You gain a fly speed equal to your walking speed as the feathers grow in size. 

Once you use this property it can’t be used again until you finish a short or long rest. 

While willingly transformed by any effect (ex. Polymorph or Wild Shape), your new form has all adaptations granted by Beastkin and Rapid Evolution and you can amplify adaptations while in that form.
