elena: “i know how i actually feel” she says this because she is compelled, remember. even though she’s aware she’s compelled, these are the actual feelings she feels actively, and it feels pretty authentic to her, and she knows the things she wrote in her journal better than anyone. that being said, i think that’s why she comes to the realization that she wants her memories back, especially after what damon says to her about what’s real and what’s not. it’s harder than it looks honestly, i can imagine lol. i also think it’s pretty easy for her to feel the way she feels for damon because let’s face it, he did & does a lot of horrendous sht lmao.
