the problem Blake (beside him tryna gain goody points) is that not only did Damon lie to Ric, one of his closest (and only) friends, but he put his relationship with Jo, and her life more importantly, in danger. The end just doesn’t justify the means on this one.

I feel like it was obviously the right call.....The ascendant is the ONLY way to access that world (and if it isn't, they have zero time to research and find another way, but we know it's the only way). Technically, as we learn (I feel like surely Jo should know this) the ascendant only travels one way....so they aren't bringing the ascendant to Kai or anything. Kai has to use the one that exists in the prison world, already with him. It's not making it more possible for Kai to get out if they pop themselves over into the prison world. That alone makes it a totally moot point. But regardless, when the choice is either Jo gets mad at Ric, or we leave Bonnie trapped alone, defenseless, with a sociopath that needs to use her for something, it's OBVIOUSLY the right choice to get the ascendant however they need to.

regardless of all that. if Damon was in the right I don’t think Alaric would feel so betrayed. Jo doesn’t even know Bonnie so I’m sure she’s more worried about the fact that she’s protected this relic for most of her life and now it’s been taken from her and she sees it as the only thing keeping her alive. so yeah Ric might lose the best thing that’s happened to him and Jo might die in the process but hey as long as we get Bonnie back

....Alaric has known Bonnie (who has sacrificed her own life to save his numerous times, including his being here AT ALL rn for this second chance at life) for years, bro. Of course her life would/should be more valued than Jo's at this point, to Alaric. It was just some bad writing. A bad attempt at showing Damon doing a classic "bad Damon" thing, but it falls apart under any scrutiny. And again, there's the aspect of it NOT risking Jo's life, because it wouldn't help Kai get out, as well as the aspect of one person (Bonnie) in immediate danger and another (Jo) in hypothetical, possible danger. Prioritizing Bonnie is the right thing from every angle.....Not to mention, Jo is also completely in debted/owes her life to the Bennets....Even directly to Bonnie, who obviously sacrificed her freedom to keep Kai from getting out, putting her magic in the bear, as they figure out. It's flat out WRONG to not prioritize Bonnie.

Blake I assure you Elena wasn’t jealous. Because she is stuck with only evil Damon memories, she think he is doing it for only selfish reasons and to get her back. But in reality, Damon is doing this to help his best friend.
