So, this was before your time, so when it was televised on cable network tv, in 1990?? It was released as a tv special event mini serjes..meaning it wasn't like a true seriees, in that it was an episodic, full season of a show intended to be a series. I feel like, from ones I remember, it would have been released 1 episode a night, over a few nights, maybe during a long weekend?? Anyway, before internet and streaming, this would have been something ppl anticipated and planned to be home to watch.. as well as sit thru copious amounts of commercials every five mins..I would compare it (pun kinda intended) to the long story arc limited streaming series' we get today. Like Midnight Mass, or The Queen's Gambit. The Pack reacted to both of those too..so check them out.. P.S. BBB..fantastic shirt..I enjoy taking sharpies to my own clothes from time to time..XO

So, now that I’ve finished the reaction.. loved everything ya all said. It was horrifying when I was a kid, but also, when I was a kid, the “funny” parts of Curry’s Pennywise, were lost on me back then, but I can absolutely appreciate now. I read the book, sooooooo long ago, like 7th or 8th grade, and while I can say, it’s 1 of my favorite King books, as I remember enjoying it, I don’t remember the part Cojo is talking about in the sewrs. Maybe vaguely now, but that is horrifying. Oh!! Fun fact— the Henry bowers jail scene.. they mention the name of a guard and it’s “Koontz.” Then Henry says “I hate Koontz.” or something like that.. I didn’t see it in the early access reaction. Anyway, that was some friendly ribbing by King, to horror writer rival at the time, Dean Koontz. I thought that was SO funny when I was a kid and saw this. So, I won’t get too bogged down in comparing bc u really can’t. They, this adaptation, and the more recent films, both bring elements I love and elements I don’t like as much, to the story. For rankings?? It’s weird. I’d say I prefer the newer part 1 over the 90’s version, but I prefer the 90’s version to the part 2 newer ones. And for penny wise?? Curry’s comedic elements were as brilliant as skaarsgard was dark & terrifying.

I read the book The Stand. When covid hit, it almost felt like The Stand was coming true.

What a coincidence that Seth Green's character in this movie does voices, and now in real life, he also does voices. Also, he was afraid of a werewolf, and later Seth played a werewolf. I wonder how many of these actors the guys are familiar with. Adult Ben is John Ritter from the enormously popular TV show Three's Company. Adult Bev was Clark Kent's mom Martha in Smallville. Adult Mike was on WKRP in Cincinnati. Adult Richie was a magician and on the TV show Night Court. Bill was on the wholesome TV show The Waltons. Adult Stanley was the guy who took care of the dogs in The Thing. I was impressed that Blake remembered Olivia Hussey from Romeo and Juliet.

Nowthat you've watched both did you recognize that kid Ben was the fakeout adult Ben in chapter 2

A big thing that's left out in both adaptations is Maturin the Turtle, he's only really hinted at here and there. He's the good opposing force against it. He helps the losers club defeat it and tells them about the ritual of chud which they sort of did in Chapter 2 but not exactly. I don't blame them for leaving it out though, it's really hard to do the ending of the book I think and probably even harder to include Maturin.

We need a “the stand” reaction

YOU GOTTA WATCH WELCOME TO DERRY. JAKE, BLAKE, IT'S WORTH EVERY SECOND OF YOUR TIME.

AnnMarie Mills

Yes it was released in two nights. I worked swing shift so I had my roommates tape these on the VCR😆Which also meant I had to get up off the couch to fast forward, but I would let the commercials run for a few because Tim Curry just gave me the creeps🤡

Michael Figueroa

Another great movie with Tim Curry is LEGEND (1985, dir. Ridley Scott). It's a fantasy with Tom Cruise.

Jennifer (SweetSlytherinGirl)

Stephen King, the only horror movies I enjoy. And I've seen the 6 hour version of this IT. I will not watch the remake because it looks more gory and scary, so no thanks. Great reaction, gentlemen.

Pajama_Llama666

Now we need Rocky Horror Picture Show 1975!
