Doodle Portraits and Gentle Hands (Patreon)

Just wanted to do some quick, fun portraits for a few buds. (Hash's Sobek, Halkyov's Adazhan, DerpyDrake's Arkees, and Zank's Astrum) Also tested out doing a more toon-y and cell shaded style. Not something I'm used to, but it was a lot of fun and also a great exercise into separating the true shadow forms from the mid tones! 😆

The painted piece was sort of exploring a trope that I like which is basically the "gentle giant" or "sympathetic monster" trope. I've always been a fan of it (which is why it probably features in so much of my work 😂) but I wanted to try something more simplistic in composition to see if that narrative would still come through. I think based on the Twitter and BlueSky responses I got, I can safely say it did 😂
