I need your guys's opinion. So I'm currently working on the Orca drawing, and I'm not sure if I should go with the vest or without it. What do you guys think?

Just leave a comment with either A or B, and feel free to explain why if you feel like it. (Totally up to you though) ;)

Should also mention that the style is inspired by Jojo, Jerome Jacinto's recent drawings and also JC Leyendecker's works.

Thanks for the help!

B, Vest. I think it adds more personality to him.

Cole Leo

B but rhinestone it 👀👀👀👀

Bleu

I really like both, though if I had to pick one I'd go with B since it's add that little bit more! Any reason you can only go with one though?

heyokjc

B, the vest definitely gives him some more flair and sense of motion!

Sal

B. It adds a nice bit of contrast between him and the background

Julian

B! Fashion is fun

DerpyDrake

B! As useless as it is it add more to his fashion over just some tiny pair of shorts.

Hariken

B, I think the jacket goes well with the image

Rolenzo

B! The vest suited him very well✨

I'm so indecisive rn xD The vest adds more detail and attraction, but it bothers me that it covers up a bit of his body even tho it isn't much that it's covering up xD. I think ima going with B cuz it makes the illustration more appealing. Also, Great work!! I love it!! Is it just me, or is your style going through some small changes/improvements?

B. Vest adds more character to him! Makes the design a little more complex than just the shorts. Clothing can add a LOT to communicating character (I've learned a bit about that in writing, though that's less visual and you have to be more sparing with details lest you bore the reader with describing everything EXACTLY as it is.) The vest gives a bit more chance for character expression. And I'm usually for more clothing/jewelry/accessories for character work just because it's more communicated, and it's harder to overdo it with art than with writing (not trying to imply art isn't easy, or it's not easy to make mistakes, but with writing, one or two sentences can be the difference between doing and overdoing good descriptions). Fantastic work regardless! And the salmon color works really well for balance!

Big Buck

You made it and it looks good on him. I vote with vest.

B I think the vest is a nice touch for character design, makes the composition have a nice direction overall when looking it over, and personally it just feels more natural to see

Histoire

B The vest looks really nice.

Thanks Bleu! It’s not really that I can only go with one, it’s just that I tend to lean towards just having one final version of a piece. More of a preference I guess 😆

Thanks Raz! This is actually a bit of a study piece! I’m trying out something stylistically more alligned with Leyendecker’s work. That’s probably why it looks a bit different 😂
