SF Summer Uke-Splosion fun!! 🎉

I've just returned home from this year's San Francisco Uke-Splosion, and I want to thank my SF community for welcoming me back with the most joyous vibes. ❤️ I was able to see so many Patrons, as well as the Aloha Uke Squad, my hula family, and old friends like Ukulenny, Steven Espaniola, and the SF Uke Jam band. I will do a better job of encouraging folks to come into town for this event, because Lenny's goal is to keep growing it, and it's truly amazing that it is FREE!! Grateful to the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival for inviting us and funding this event for the past 7 years! San Francisco's support for the public arts fills me with awe and appreciation.

Here are a few pics that I grabbed from folks who attended. Feel free to share your pics in our Community Chat or our private Patron-only Facebook group. It's hard to see everyone's faces, but the last pic includes a lot of Patrons and 100-Dayers who came up to the front to play on the final jam for Stand By Me. So fun!

Thank you to Owen for organizing Patrons for a "Losing My Religion" jam, which we recorded after Uke-Splosion. I haven't seen the footage yet, but it was exciting to do, and I'd love to make it a tradition!

💯 100 Days of Ukulele 2024 Showcase Premiere: Jenny and Owen are working on this year's Showcase, to be premiered later this summer. Stay tuned for the premiere date announcement, and hope you'll join us for a live chat and celebration/reunion. In the mean time, be sure to get the official 100 Days t-shirt and other merch in Jenny's Redbubble custom print shop. See this post for links.

🔟 Patreon 10-year Anniversary Party 2025: Continue to save the date for our Patreon Community's 10th Anniversary Patrons Weekend in Hawaii, March 15-16, 2025! Have you filled out the Hawaii 2025 Interest Form? I haven't sent out any details yet, but interested folks have been sharing ideas over in our dedicated 10th Anniversary Hawaii Celebration Community Chat and in or our private Patron-only Facebook group. If you have a question or want to reach out and find travel and rooming buddies, you can use these chats. I will create a longer doc or post to address the FAQs. Patron events will center in the Waikiki area, but some of the free ukulele activities like factory tours will require travel, so carpooling and Uber-pooling is encouraged!

📌📣 Community Bulletin Board via comments: Feel free to use the comments section in this monthly check-in as a Bulletin Board for all things uke or Patreon.  Events, announcements, invitations, questions, requests, suggestions -- all are fair game.  We can also use the Chats in the Patreon App, and I'm open to using them for discussion in any way that benefits Patrons.

Thanks for reading, for being here, for supporting my journey and for sharing yours.

Special note for new Patrons

If you're new, I invite you to take some time to get to know the platform - there's a lot here, and it may take a while to navigate the many lessons and posts.  The community WelcomeGuide/FAQ post is a good place to start.

To find a specific song or lesson, learn to use the updated Cynthia Lin Song Index.  Thank you to the Community Managers for creating and maintaining this helpful resource.

Please introduce yourself in the comments: I'd love to hear how long you've been playing, what kind of uke you play, if you have a group to play with, what songs you've been working on, or anything else you'd like to share.

If you have questions about Patreon, I encourage you to post your questions in the comments below or to one of our Community groups. Our community has tons of friendly folks who love sharing their uke experience. Join our Patron-only Facebook group (be sure to answer BOTH membership questions).

Seasoned Patrons, I always appreciate it when you help me answer any newbie questions in the comments of this or any post.  Thank you! Feel free to post your questions in the comments as well.

Day 1 of my membership and I couldn't be more excited to grow my uke brain and get to know all of you. I'm from Wisconsin and have a degree in music therapy and am also a certified special Ed teacher. (newly retired)! I love the ukulele because it is more suited to my small hands and I love the ease of being able to play beloved songs and sound pretty good right away, but I also love that I can challenge myself with fancy strums and note bends and cool chords and playing and singing at the same time! I want to learn as much as I can and become a uke ambassador in my area and spread the love. I also want to be able to jam along with other musicians in my family when we get together!

Hello there, my name is Nicole Hoffmann and I'm a new member since 10th July. I joined because I like your tutorials and the choice of songs/music for them. I started playing Ukulele in January this year, so I'm still a newbie. It's not the first instrument I learn (I had piano lessons for some years and play the recorder since primary school). I chose the Ukulele because I always wanted to learn a stringed instrument but guitar was always to big for my tiny hands. The ukulele suits me just fine and I really enjoy playing it. I'm able to play simple strumming patterns and know a handful of chords and songs by now. I'm looking forward to learning much much more here...new techniques, new songs, challenge myself out of the comfort zone and have lots of fun. I'm located in Germany in an area where there are zero Ukulele teachers and also zero Ukulele clubs and groups. So one day, when I got good at playing I may start one myself.

Hello Y'all, I'm just joining Cynthia's Patreon this month. I've been following her on Youtube for a while now and really love her teaching style. I am an eternal lifelong beginner of the uke. Pick it up for a couple of months ...put it down for a couple of years or decades. I seem to have caught the bug this time tho, the need to at least hold the uke and tune it everyday. Retirement might have something to do with it. There is a deep calm that comes over me when I work out a simple fingerpicking pattern. I also have fun using (abusing?) my grandchildren as an inattentive wiggly audience or background musicians with the soprano uke. I got for them. Looking forward to getting to know you all,
