aloha Patrons!

i've just posted the tutorial for Stairway to Heaven, which was our June 2017 vote winner.

Tutorial video is here: https://youtu.be/L5JCO0p_CgM - please share, like, comment, and help me spread the word!

many of you voiced your feedback that the original tab chord chart and live lesson from June was too difficult, and i appreciate that you spoke up.  it took me a few tries to figure out how to craft this tutorial for maximum accessibility and enjoyment.  please check it out and let me know what you think!  even if you are a more advanced player, this tutorial is still a good way to prepare for the tab version.

a new chord chart is attached below (also available at Gumroad).

happy picking!

xo cynthia.

Thanks Cynthia. I became a patron last month. Your teaching style and the material you make available is fabulous!!

Rici

Thanks Cynthia for this absolutely great tutorial. You made this (part of the) song feasible (manageable) for me! But nevertheless... next month I would prefer a fun song, something like "Build me up, buttercup". This one is really fun to play.

Phylicia

I appreciate the time you put into trying to make this as accessible as possible. The fact that it is so challenging in the first place is exactly why I hope there's change to the voting process at some point. I still would Really like to see a Time in a Bottle tutorial (I can't believe it was second place for three months in a row!!), but I think voting from a selection of what you feel would work well for your patrons is the way to go.

Lynn Haney

Beautiful! I enjoy watching your tutorials!

Karen Andersen

This was great. it is a challenge but not enough to exclude learning it, To improve I need this type of challenge out of my usual strumming box. B I love that. I really love that i can play it on my low G kamora E5 which has a beautiful honey earthy sound. I have only a few songs for it so was excited when I saw this could be played on it. I have given up my private lession because working with you is much better and fits my erratic lifestyle. Thank you

Cindy Tate-Metz

Oh my goodness. I love you so much! I never thought I would be able play an instrument, and here I am throwing down some Stairway To Heaven! You rock, Cynthia! Thank you! Can't wait for your album release!

Susan Marcin

Yes! What Cindy Tate-Metz said exactly!!!

Cynthia Lin

in the end, learning is really self-based. happy to be your guide from afar! (although the internet makes distance just a formality!)

Barbara Ulber

Thank you so much, you are just a brilliant teacher... You seem to have the ability to break everything down to something one can manage. One question still: I'm trying to combine the tutorial with the full wip chord Chart and now I'm confused about whether to use F or Am for the stairway in line 1? However, thanks again, need to download the Album now 😉

Sheila Wong

You are brilliant as a teacher and as a singer. I have learnt so much from you. Thank YOU!

Jon F

An epic tutorial for an epic song! It's brilliant that you're breaking this song into 3 parts/tutorials; this song is worthy of that effort. Thank you, thank you. My anticipation for Parts 2 and 3 will kill me...

Brenda Hawks

Thanks much for this revision. I'm actually picking !! Slowly, but feels great to learn something new & challenging for me, still consider myself a newbie!! You are awesome & I know you work really hard on your tutorials for all of us. ❤️

Bonnie Schroth

Your singing and playing is so beautiful! I do love working on your original picking pattern - challenging but so lovely!

Sheila Wong

I have been immensely enjoying the picking and singing of this song. Can't wait for part2&3!

Frankie Crisostomo

It was super exciting to meet you at the Fireside Lounge last night! Looking forward to Part 2 of Stairway to Heaven, and more of your beautiful playing! Love your arrangement.

Valerie

I love playing this over and over. I can't sing and play at the same time, but never the less I love it! I even played my audio to my co workers and the picked up the song right away. Keep the hits coming!

Fabian Alexander Leal A.

Cynthia, you are beautiful, I love your voice and ukulele skills. Thanks you!

Susan Wilmes

Hi Cynthia! I'm in Hawaii with my uke, finished the Stairway to Heaven Part 1. It is so awesome! I can't seem to get the original work in

Susanne Cox

Beautiful. Easy to follow. Thank you so much. Looking forward to the other parts.

Gail Harris

Super excited for the next two parts of Stairway to heaven

Walter Studencki

How can I bend my DIJ (distal interphalangeal joint) or last joint of the finger as you do? Can I just force the joint over some weeks to be able to play the B chord. It's very frustrating.
