{Patron-only post}
aloha all!
a warm welcome to all the new Patrons! looking forward to our 1K Patron Concert next Saturday, be sure to vote in that poll too for the concert setlist.
for those who are new:
- the first week of the month, we vote for the monthly tutorial.
- the 2nd week of the month, i share a chord chart for that song (for $3+ Patrons) and teach a live lesson of the song (for $5+ Patrons). this month's Live Lesson is Thurs 9/14 at 4:30pm PDT - details will be posted separately. all live events typically happen on Thursdays at 4:30pm unless I'm traveling.
- at the end of the month, i publish a Patron-supported tutorial on YouTube for everyone to enjoy.
- we have a calendar on our forum (please sign up and check out the discussion topics) where you can see the monthly events. events are also posted on our facebook group.
- heads up that the Beginner Jam will be a special live broadcast of my NYC Ukulele Workshop on Thurs 9/21 from 3:30-5:30pm PDT and the Intermediate Jam is Thurs 9/28 at 4:30pm PDT. details will be posted separately.
GROWTH = MORE MONTHLY TUTORIALS
our ukulele community is growing, and some folks have been here with me 2+ years - and have become solid ukulele players seeking more and more challenge. meanwhile, newbies are joining everyday. so i've decided to dedicate more time in my schedule and find more help to create both a beginner and intermediate tutorial each month. please be patient - this is my goal, but it will take time to work out the scheduling and find the right assistance. i am only one person, and while i've tried to delegate the work, when it comes down to arranging, scripting, shooting, and editing the tutorial, i've discovered that i personally need to do it for the best teaching quality (which is my #1 priority). i also have tour dates, am planning the first-ever San Francisco Ukulele Festival, and am wrapping up the release of another record for the end of the year (here's a hint). but please know, as all of this shakes out, my intention is to give everyone support in their ukulele journey and continue building this community with aloha. the tutorials for last month's vote are in the works, sit tight!
THIS MONTH'S VOTE - a Beginner-friendly tutorial
we have had several months of Intermediate-level tutorials, understandably, because those are the ones that are hardest to figure out. the Beginners have spoken up though, and i really like the suggestion of alternating the monthly vote between Beginner and Intermediate level tutorials. there are plenty of fun Beginner-friendly songs that i've been excited to teach - so you'll see them listed below. Intermediate folks, remember that there is plenty to learn in reviewing the basics. we'll include Intermediate choices next month!
HOW TO VOTE
1. vote for as many of the checkbox song choices as you like below- multiple votes allowed. please note - as soon as you tick the checkbox, the vote is counted. (you can look at the ticker on the right!) note #2 - some Patrons have commented that the voting doesn't work on certain devices, so you might need a desktop browser vs iPad.
2. in addition, you can comment below with another Beginner-friendly song that you'd want a tutorial for. this will help with song choices for future votes. what makes for a Beginner-friendly song? not too many chords (6 or less - you can do a google search on "song name chords") and typically one that's easy for most people to sing.
voting closes Sunday 9/10 at 11:59pm PDT. i'll announce the winner on Monday, and post the chord chart in time for the Live Lesson.
happy voting!
xo cynthia.
