Aloha Patrons!

An update to our voting system:

Song Choices with Teaching Range

I've decided that the most successful monthly tutorials are the ones that are Beginner-friendly (not too many chords), are fun to play with a simple strum, and can also be adapted to be more challenging with Intermediate level techniques, like finger-picking or advanced strumming.  I think this has proven successful with Sound of Silence, Landslide, and with last month's Leaving on the Jet Plane (tutorial is in the works! watch the Live Lesson).

So going forward, I will present songs with this Beginner-to-Intermediate teaching potential as our monthly tutorial choices.  I'm still excited to make those epic Intermediate level tutorials, but I've discovered that they require a lot of practice teaching - and therefore they need to start in the classroom.  Those tutorials will come from the work I do with my Intermediate classes and the Intermediate Live Jam group. If you're looking for more challenging material, join our Intermediate Live Jam or the Intermediate virtual classes that are starting up next week.

Please share your song choices in the comments

Below, I've added some song choices from the comments on last month's poll - I chose the songs that have a wide teaching range and also got the most upvotes (hearts).  So please do comment with the songs you're interested in and upvote other people's comments as well!  PS - there were a lot of votes for House at Pooh Corner last month but that's definitely Intermediate since it moves fast and has tons of chords - how about we do it for the Intermediate Live Jam lesson?

Tutorials in the Queue

If you've been following my travels on facebook and Instagram, you know that I've been on the road a lot this past month!  So I am woefully behind in my tutorial production, but I am slowly but surely working on them!  I have been working on editing our August 2017 vote-winner Here, There and Everywhere (watch the Intermediate Jam Lesson or download the chord chart if you're eager to get started), which is a monster of a tutorial at over 40 minutes - it's a complicated song.  I will work on Leaving on a Jet Plane next, and also have What a Wonderful World in the queue.  I'm grateful for the opportunity to travel and connect with Patrons and uke-players across the country, and I'm excited for our first-ever San Francisco Ukulele Festival this weekend!  This is the most active my music career has ever been, which is amazing and brings new challenges - so thank you for your patience, and thanks for joining me for the ride.  After SF Uke-tober Fest, I'll work on catching up!

HOW TO VOTE

1. vote for as many of the checkbox song choices as you like below- multiple votes allowed.  please note - as soon as you tick the checkbox, the vote is counted.  (you can look at the ticker on the right!)  note #2 - some Patrons have commented that the voting doesn't work on certain devices, so you might need a desktop browser vs iPad.

2. in addition, you can comment below with a song that you'd want a tutorial for. this will help with song choices for future votes. and you can upvote other people's song choices as well by clicking the heart on their comment.

Voting closes Sunday 10/8 at 11:59pm PDT.  I'll announce the winner and post the chord chart on Monday, and the Live Lesson will follow on Thursday.

Thank you, and happy voting!

xo cynthia.

Harvest Moon - Neil Young

"The Sore Feet Song" by Ally Kerr would be awesome to see! It's a very nice, soothing song that gets a bit silly in the second half. I see a lot of people who play on guitar on Youtube get crazy with the tabs, but if you watch how Ally Kerr actually plays it, it looks much simpler.

Time in a Bottle by Jim Croce

My 97YO dad used to sing "Fly Me to the Moon when I was young. It's a lovely, song to sing that still endures today
