Aloha Patrons!
UPDATE: Click to watch the livestream (same as link above)
I'm excited to host my first-ever Uke Social tonight, Tuesday 1/30, here in San Francisco - and I've decided to livestream it on Facebook to share with the Patrons!
What is the Uke Social?
Now that I'm teaching less (because I want more time to focus on recording and touring), I wanted to create a night where my local students can reunite, jam on songs, come up on stage to help lead songs and build some song-leading skills, and also try out the Open Mic in a supportive environment.
If you're local (or want to hop on a plane right this second), come on down and enjoy this event in person, and otherwise, tune in and chat with fellow Patrons during the jam! Starting at 8:30pm PST, we'll play songs from my new 22-song Uke Social packet - attached at the bottom of this post. Non-Patrons can download on Gumroad here: bit.ly/UkeSocial
Livestreaming in the Facebook Patron group
I will go Live in the Cynthia Lin Patrons Facebook group from 8:30pm (ish) to 10pm (ish). I know it will be late/early for most of you, so no worries if you can't tune in live - you'll be able to watch the recording later.
If you haven't joined the Facebook group yet, please do because it is really the best place on the internet (right??): http://bit.ly/CLpatronsFBgroup. Apologies if you're not on facebook - for now, FB Live is the easiest way to livestream this kind of event.
Please understand that livestreaming is always a bit of an experiment, and in this case we will be at a bar that may be a little loud. So we'll see how it goes, and keep adapting. I'm always open to Patron feedback.
What is a jam?
At an uke jam, the group plays through songs together from shared chord charts. Jamming is fun because we move through many songs quickly, and jamming can also be challenging because you need to keep up with the group! I think jamming builds different skills than practicing on your own - you learn to read chord charts faster, you learn to hear and follow the rhythm of the group, and you learn to play at your own level (single strums, simplified strums). I will offer some basic chord and strum introduction, but the focus is on playing through the songs as a group.
Join me if you can, and at the very least, have fun playing the songs in the packet!
