How the Song of the Month works

If you're new, here's the TL;DR version of what happens with the Song of the Month:

1. All Patrons vote!  (in this post!  see the song options below!)

2. I create a Chord Chart ($3+ Patrons) and teach a Live Lesson ($5+ Patrons) for the winning song

3. I produce a Play-Along video (check out the ) and release it on YouTube

4. Upon YouTube release, chord chart is made available to the public via Gumroad, and all Patrons receive access to the recorded hour-long Live Lesson

Recent vote-winning Play-Alongs:

THANK YOU PATRONS for directly supporting the creation of these higher production Play-Along videos.  I'm learning and growing by working alongside a professional video and sound team - it's such a relief to let them handle the production aspects so that I can focus on more music and arrangements.  I hope you are enjoying the improved visual and audio quality!

Cynthia's Choice - The Greatest Showman - What's your favorite song from the soundtrack?

I watched The Greatest Showman over Thanksgiving with my family and we all enjoyed the movie and loved the soundtrack, which is one of Billboard's Top 10 Albums of the Year.  Several Patrons and subscribers have requested songs from the The Greatest Showman, and my friends and family have all fallen in love with the music from this movie.  I'm excited to teach one of these songs, comment with your favorite song from the soundtrack if you've seen the movie.

Thank you, and happy voting!

xo cynthia.

The Greatest Showman - if you've seen the movie, reply to this comment with your favorite song from the soundtrack! My favorites are Never Enough and This is Me, but I also think Rewrite the Stars and A Million Dreams would make for good uke songs.

Never Enough from The Greatest Showman

Laura de Wilt

What a pity Toto with Africa disappeared from the list

Mary L Lund

I could not see a place to send my votes? Something and Time after Time are my choices. Next time I want Sweet Caroline and Hawaiian Lullaby.

Valerie Greene

I've been wanting to learn Killing Me Softly for a while so please keep including it if it doesn't win :)

Pam

I love Killing Me Loftly, also. I too hope it wins.

Maree Smith

Please, please keep the rock opera legacy going (you've done Stairway To Heaven) and do the first part of Bohemian Rhapsody!!

Pam

Just a typo or two. Softly, yes.

Rohit Nambiar

Yes!! Finally someone brought up something from Queen. After the movie, there's been so much buzz that I'd love to learn one of their songs.

Maree Smith

Yay! I bought a most excellent Queen ukulele song book in Hawaii, only to lose it before I got home. I'd love Cynthia's arrangement, something more intricate than what I'd come up with, but less difficult than Jake Shimabukuro's!

Kelsey Fleury

House that built me by Miranda Lambert. That song gets me every time!

Heidi

Me too! Love that song and still hoping for Harvest Moon someday!

Jess Chen

How Far I'll Go from Moana - for my kiddo!!

Julie Rogers

This is Me! Rewrite the Stars! We watched this movie for my daughter's bday party last month. The soundtrack has been on hot rotation ever since. Inspiring, great messaging & choreography that makes me want to dance. :)

Lucy Maro

I would like Never Enough from the Greatest Showman if it isn't too hard

Terrina Fairbrother

I LOVED The Greatest Showman.. as usual I watched it on a plane and bawled my eyes out, which always makes other passengers and the hosteys laugh!! I would be happy with anything from it but my favourite song is This is Me. If anyone is interested, have a look at the cast running thru this song in a workshop... very powerful!!!

Sandra Šustić

I am so thrilled to see "Roxanne" on the list that I can't comment anything else! Hope some day it will be The song of the month... <3

Sylwia Torczyńska

If it's possible, I would be veeeery grateful if you could teach us hope of deliverance by Paul McCartney :D!

Terrina Fairbrother

And a suggestion for January.... anything by Crowed House.. It's Australia Day on 26th Jan - so an Aussie suggestion!!!

Anne Kelley

This Is Me. The Greatest Showman.

Erin Malchoff

I would love to learn a Passenger song! The Wrong Direction perhaps?

Melanie Maus

Just like Heaven by the Cure

Toni Jennings

I would love to learn the entire soundtrack but if I had to pick one, This Is Me creeps to the top of my list!

Pam

Will it be a tie? Killing Me Softly is my choice.

Carol Miller

A million dreams would be lovely. Thankyou xx

Nata Szo

Killing me softly! If it doesn't win let it be a play-along with the chord chart please!

Denise Yegge

Please do Don't Stop Believing

molly ferrer

There is a great Cynthia chord chart floating around somewhere, it is a great tune for sure.

Smudge

Please Please Angel from Montgomery!

Jeanne S

Please no more Beatles song... You have already taught many. Killing me softly.

Wrendybee

Lost in the Light by Bahamas

Jon F

I think you have to teach us "There's Always Me" now... that Apple commercial is great. From what I can tell the chords are straightforward but you need to teach us the picking/rhythm.

John Lynch

I suppose it’s too late to request “Above the Northern Lights” by Mannheim Steamroller ... or Chip Davis “)

Darren

Ditto! Beatles songs are beautiful but so overdone! There are plenty of talented musicians in the world who don’t have 60s boy band mullets ;)

Stefan Dzwonnik

Killing me Softly - always the bridesmaid, never the bride

SONIA BARDES

THE GREATEST SHOW MAN : THE GREATEST SHOW,
