Aloha Patrons!

Welcome to our monthly vote!  Please note that voting closes Sunday, July 14th at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.

If you're new to Patreon, thanks for being here!  Please read thoroughly for instructions on how the whole voting process works. (Also, if you're new, join our secret facebook group!  Email patronhelp@cynthialin.com with your facebook email address and we'll add you - and see Community Notes at the bottom of this post for more ways to connect.)

How the Song of the Month works

Here's the TL;DR version of what happens with the Song of the Month:

1. All Patrons vote!  (in this post!  see the song options below!)

2. I create a Chord Chart ($3+ Patrons) and teach a Live Lesson ($5+ Patrons) for the winning song, and I'll record a Play-Along to release on YouTube.

3. All Patrons receive access to the recorded hour-long Live Lesson the following month.

THANK YOU PATRONS for directly supporting the creation of these higher production Play-Alongs!  Find all Play-Along posts here.

Classic songs with worldwide appeal tend to win - we'll do newer songs in the monthly Beginner and Intermediate Lessons

Since this vote is Patron-wide and international, the songs that tend to win are chart-toppers that are familiar worldwide.  This is by design, since I want the Patron-voted Live Lesson and Play-Along to reach the widest number of people.  So since this vote is a popular vote, you can expect that more obscure songs or newer songs have less chance of winning.

I will try to balance this out by sharing newer songs in the monthly Beginner and Intermediate Lessons.  For example, today's Beginner Lesson is on "Old Town Road" which is the #1 song in the world right now.  Please do keep suggesting your favorite songs, because I'll take that into consideration for the other monthly Lessons, especially if the song gets a lot of upvotes.

I also try to present song choices that I think would make for good lessons.  So if you don't see your choice, it may be because I haven't figured out a way to teach it on ukulele yet.  Keep trying. :)  The more support you can gather for your song choice, the more likely I will work on the song!

This month, I'm sharing some fresh song choices that got a lot of love in the comments last month, plus a couple of current hit songs.  Be sure to upvote your fellow Patrons' comments!

HOW TO VOTE

1. Click on the check box for as many of the song choices as you like below- yes, multiple votes are allowed. Please note - as soon as you tick the checkbox, the vote is counted. (you can look at the ticker on the right!  Sometimes the ticking doesn't work on certain devices - in this case, try your laptop or desktop vs tablet or mobile)

2. Comment with ONE SONG that you’d want for next month's tutorial. I'll keep your suggestions in mind for our other monthly lessons.  Please keep it to one song suggestion per person.

3. Upvote other people's song choices by clicking the heart on their comment. Upvotes are an easy way to double your voting power!  Your upvotes matter, so I encourage you to come back and look through your fellow Patrons' comments to upvote.

Thank you, and happy voting!

Stephanie Kugler

Point Blank by Springsteen or Sugar Magnolia by the Grateful Dead

Just a thought ~since Tears in Heaven and Killing Me Softly are neck and neck, perhaps the one with most votes is for July and the other song as the August pick? Both are great songs and popular with our group ❤️

Susan near the lakes

Van Morrison's Moon Dance will be a great choice for September or October

Susan Alexander

I guess I have weird taste in music. I don't like Killing Me Softly or Tears in Heaven. I want to rock!

Cynthia Lin

i think it will work really well on the uke. i can see doing it as an intermediate lesson possibly in a future month (i already have a lesson planned for this month)

Carol Q

Looks like Tears In Heaven may have it. So happy. While so sad, it is, oh, such a beautiful song. I would also love to learn Harvest Moon as well. To have these "classics" in my repertoire- that would be such a gift.

Leah Woosley

Maybe we could see Metallica in one of the jams? That'd be fun.

Jennie Kessinger

I’d love more 80s like Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears.
