Dear Patrons,

Today is #ThankYouPatrons Day, so first of all, THANK YOU.  I'm grateful for every single one of you who make the effort to support the work that I do.  Thank you for being here, for helping me create this positive community, and for giving me the opportunity to follow my passion.

It truly is my life's reward to share my love of music, learning, and creative empowerment.  I would be doing these things even if we didn't have Patreon, but I didn't know that we would create such a special place in this world with our Patreon community.  Over these past 4 years on Patreon, we've found each other and we've all grown together in our ukulele journeys.  It's been a joy to see Patrons connect and support each other, from all parts of the world and from all walks of life.  I feel the transformative power of music in your lives in your lightbulb moments at each live lesson, and through each video you bravely share.   I've watched many of you become leaders online and in your local communities, sharing the aloha of your music with others, and, magically, the aloha just keeps multiplying.  Perhaps it's a bit dramatic, but our Patreon community makes me believe that the world can be a better place.  I'm grateful to find like-minded people to build this community together.

If you've read through this post, I would love it if you could click through and leave a comment about a favorite moment or aspect of our Patreon community.  Think of it as a Thank You to your fellow Patrons. :)

As a small token of my appreciation, I'm sharing the unreleased audio track of "You've Got a Friend" just for Patrons - click the orange mp3 link above to download and enjoy.

All my aloha,
xo cynthia.

I’ve been following your tutorials on YouTube and love them and learnt such a lot so I thought it was time I joined up. II’m so looking forward to being part of your Patreon group

Cheryl VanderZwaag

Thank you Cynthia. Your passion and love for the ukulele really shows. I appreciate that. Your voice is very easy to listen to as well. I like it very much, reminds me of Karen Carpenter. I loved her when I was a kid.

Cheryl VanderZwaag

Well any way I just wanted to say thanks for what you do. I have a hard time making it to the live stuff you have on, but I am going to try to make it more often this year. I wanted to ask you if it's normal to not remember the cords for awhile when you are switching between guitar and ukulele? I have been playing guitar since I was 6 and I started the ukulele in 2020. I started patreon in 2020 as well so not that long-playing the ukulele. But I love both instruments.

MarySusan Chen

Yes, Karen Carpenter - she had an angelic voice. Cynthia has a love of music that shows through her vocals.

MarySusan Chen

Cynthia, thank you for sharing your Love of music and ukulele. My moment happened today when my friend and I listened to and studied "Your Song." Memories of singing this over at least 30 years, hearing Sir Elton live last year in Chicago, and now playing an Uke version that I can master (with some work of course.) So that motivated me to start as a Patron.

Sharon Nelson

Dear Cynthia, I never in my life thought I’d play an instrument but your teaching changed all that, well into middle-age. Playing along with you are some of the happiest highlights of my life. Thank you for this remarkable gift.

Jenny Selig

Hi, Cheryl. I'm guessing other people have that experience with guitar/uke as well.

Hi Cynthia! I am soo excited to participate in the online community you have started, especially since I am isolated in a cabin in Alaska trying to stave off cabin fever. Your teaching style makes sense to me and I am already seeing new horizons in a few short weeks after finding you on Youtube. Thank you! I look forward to posting all kinds of haphazard musical mistakes as I push beyond my comfort zone.

Basil Vorolieff

Hi Cynthia. I bought a ukulele around 6 month ago and have made some progress through some other U-Tube teachers. I recently stumbled onto your lessons and I have to say you are the best. Not only are you a great teacher but you are a wonderful musician and vocalist. And I love the jazzy touch you add to some of the songs. Your "Brown Eyed Girl" really sold me. It's my favorite Van Morrison song and has a special meaning to me. You helped renew a senior's love for music. I'm pleased to be one of your Patrons.

S.M. Charles

Thank you 😊 I like this!!

Sharron

Hi Cynthia I got my first Ukulele at Christmas time ..I joined a ukulele group where I live (Dukeukes) and they’re a lovely bunch of people..I’ve signed up for the 100 days of ukulele 2023 more as a observer to see how it all works .. I’m hoping that I may get the urge to post a little something 🫣 just not sure when..I’m thoroughly enjoying watching people’s progress each day and think it’s a fabulous thing to do each year ..thank you 🌺 ……Sharron 🦋

Ella Whitfield

Thank you for sharing your talent with us!

Hi Cynthia. I learned of your online tutorials in 100 Days of Ukulele 2021 and joined Patreon for a bit and now am back! You are amazing and I'm wishing to be more serious about getting my technique correct so I look forward to the monthly live chats AND seeing you in May when U3 performs in Spokane WA! We are so excited for this event. I signed up to meet you in person before the show with the others from with our local "Ukestra" group. Thank you for this affordable opportunity AND for managing the 100 Days. :)

I'm very happy with your learning method for free, and i'm grateful that there is that possibility .Now I'm starting with patron to support you(was a bit difficultly,it would been nice if you could give sometimes a donation with ideal) .But thank you very much .

Tatiana Castro

Finally a Patron! Wohooo! I have been following Cynthia on YouTube and now after an amazing trip to Hawaii I’m diving deep into my uku and love the vibe you bring to my living room. Thank you!

Mountain Maddy

After learning from Cynthia on YouTube for several years now I am happy to finally be a patron!! Thank you Cynthia Lin!!!!

Carol Owens

I seem to be able to access once more! It’s been a struggle for months, and if I continue successfully I plan to be at a higher level.🤗🌺

Diane Stone

Hi Cynthia, I have just joined Pateron after watching you and a few other teachers and you impressed me the most, so here I am, ready to learn. I play guitar (an advanced beginner) so now I'm just learning the different chord fingering on the Ukulele. I'm looking forward to learning so much more from your lessons. Thank you for putting so much content out there!

Atsuko

I am super happy to become a member of your big and warm community!

David Bogetz

Your lessons are very easy to understand and learn from. Thanks for all the effort you put forth.

Susan Johnston

Hi, I love your music arrangements, I am happy to become part of your learning community.

Jim Henry

I'm happy to be a patron for Cynthia... her enthusiasm, grace, and professionalism is an inspiration! Thank you, Cynthia!

Collette

Hi! I've just joined to be a patron for Cynthia... A fluke that I got a ukulele (trying to support my sister in her ideas) and play EVERY day! Not great... not even good but I study the videos and watch and watch and am up to 10 songs now!! THANK YOU for your grace, professionalism, and inspiration to people who are older trying something new. Your ability to make it seem so simple is inspiration to keep trying! Thank you isn't even enough but I truly LOVE this!!!

Suzan Elliott

Thank you - I am so happy to join you community.

Bob Robinson

Hi Cynthia! I, too, succumbed to the Aloha of the Ukulele on a recent visit to Helo, Hawaii. I couldn't come home to the states without a piece of the islands with me, so I purchased a Tenor Uke from the good folks at HUG (Hawaii Ukulele and Guitars) in town. After scouring the internet for learning resources as an absolute beginner, I found your sessions to be just perfect for me! I'm looking forward to advancing my skills and appreciation for this diminutive instrument alongside you and your community!

William E Harris

So happy to have become a Patreon and improve my musical abilities on the Ukulele. I was a trumpet musician for most my younger life, a medical professional for my main career, and an actor (A PASSION) for the last 14 years. Always happy to learn something new and my Uke travels well. ;)

Gina Landau

I have enjoyed and learned from you for a couple of months so I thought it was about time I jump in on Patreon. Thanks for the wonderful lessons!

Anja Seiler

I learned so much from you in the past months and look forward to continuing the Uke journey with you and a great community! 🎶

Gail Therrien

I just became a Patreon today! I've always wanted to learn to play an instrument and finally as I retired from a busy 42 year medical career I took up the ukulele. Thank you for getting helping me find a new passion!!

Kim Loader

Greetings from Muskoka Ontario Canada. I am very excited to be part of this Uke community.

Laurie Bauer

I’m so excited to be a Patreon - I just love your tutorials and style of teaching! Laurie from Sebastopol

Elena Miranda Jiménez

I am very happy to become a Patreon member. Greetings from Madrid (Spain). I hope to learn a lot and enjoy playing my ukelele :)

Ann Plough

You were my first teacher and since 2018 I love playing the Ukulele. It gives me joy :). My favourite moment: When I play along with you and I mess up because I just started a new song and while this happens you are smiling back at me through the video, as if you're saying "Keep on going, you got this". That always made me smile :) and laugh :D

James Tomsovic

Hi from San Diego, CA. After years of playing various instruments, I finally decided to "unretire" my 40-year-old Maui Music ukulele and take a whirl with it. It's so simple to get started out on, I shoulda done it years ago; and Cynthia's online tracts are so easy and fun to pick up. I'm looking forward to making my playing the uke a pleasant experience for those within hearing range.

Nicole Holden

Hi from Venice,Florida! My dad & I started playing the Ukulele together on a whim & we just got hooked. We found Cynthia on YouTube and immediately took to her style of teaching and playing. We look forward to our weekly jams and learning new songs. Thanks for all you do, your positive energy is contagious & we really love it!

Robert Crump

Hello from Edmonds, WA. I have used several ukulele lessons formats and discovered I learned the most from watching & jamming with Cynthia’s YouTube videos. Looking forward to continuing my music journey!

Cindy Schmitz

I’m not finding the orange download link; perhaps I need to use a laptop? I am a new Patreon, I’ve used other teachers methods but always find Cynthia to be the most inspiring!

Jenny Selig

I don't see a download link, either, but this is a relatively older post and Patreon has changed a lot of its site functionality since then, so it's possible it no longer appears.

Monica Sackett

I click on the download for the song and it brings me right back to this page! Unhappy.

Jenny Selig

HI, Monica. As Cindy and I discussed in the comment just above yours, this link is older and doesn't seem to be there anymore, at least on some devices. Patreon has redesigned since then and may have stopped supporting this link. I sent a message to Cynthia to let her know. In the meantime, though, I've sent you a link, responding to your message, to the lesson and the music you can print out, if you like. Sorry about that!

cynthia lorence

I am thankful for you and your online lessons. They have brighten up my dark feelings over the past month with all that is happening in the world! I play for an hour, sometimes 2 or 3, and I feel hopeful. you've got a friend! another cynthia!

Jayne

Thank you Cynthia for leading me into the ukulele world! Your tutorials are the easiest and clearest ones to follow. I’m so grateful for the playalongs added to the tutorials!

Alison K

Hello Cynthia and fellow patrons. Greetings from Rhode Island! I bought an ukulele on my recent trip to Hawaii and I found your youtube videos right away. I love your joyful approach, generous spirit and willingness to try things and encouragment for new players to do the same. Thank you for sharing your music and knowledge. I've played flute for many years, but have never been able to stick with a stringed instrument - I think the ukulelel will be different - so much fun already! Thanks!

Alice Silva

Hi Cynthia. So happy to join your patreon community on my ukulele journey. Looking forward to the lessons. I came across your YouTube videos over the holidays and gave my family a mini concert so thank you. Still consider myself a newbie. Happy 2024❤️

Paul Foster

Love your teaching style and how good you are I’ve followed you for a few years now and you still inspire me 😃

AnnMarie Hammond

Hi from Australia, i did an 8 week beginners Ukulele course years ago and joined them each week for a little while to play then lockdowns happened. Found Cynthia on youtube and have been wanting to join patreon for a while but didn't realise how little it cost or i would have joined ages ago. Thank you ... i look forward to learning how to play properly

AnnMarie Hammond

I can't work out how to download the song. If i click the orange section it just plays

Jenny Selig

Yes, we noticed that but I don't know how to fix it. This is an old enough post that Patreon may have stopped supporting the original method to download.

James Vible

Hi all, looking forward to learning and playing along with a great community of music lovers.

Ursula

Got my first ukulele for Christmas. CL YouTube Videos helped me so much already. I thought I have to join this community . It just sounds so motivating.

Yoji Nishigaya

Hello from Yokohama, Japan. I'm looking forward to your teaching.

Arwa Ali

Aloha! Your terrific tutorials and the music you select brought me here along with your well written music that's easy to follow, but condensed!

Kelly Atwell

I'm thrilled to have joined the Uke Gang! I appreciate the affordable price, as sticker shock has always kept me from doing what I know I would love and benefit from. I'm in! And I'm looking forward to learning, growing, and making music with all of you!

Rosalia Quema Bland

Hi, everyone. Just a few minutes ago, I upgraded my membership to the $30 Tier because i really would like to learn as much as I can about improving my voice and playing along on the ukulele. Cynthia, I love, love, love your teaching style: Very clear instructions, inclusive approach, and your voice is divine. And do you know, I shed a tear of joy when I heard your recording of the song You've Got a Friend (above). When I was growing up in the Philippines, this song was sung to me by my first BFF ever (before the term was coined :). While I now live in Australia and she in New Zealand, we've kept in touch and we have visited each other over the years. BFF. Cynthia, thank you for recording the song for us. I hope we will all become BFFs, brought together by our love of music and the uke, with Cynthia Lin at the helm. Thank you for being you.

Rosalia Quema Bland

Hi, AnnMarie. I just joined the $30 Tier tonight and saw this post when I was scrolling down to check how to download Cynthia's recording (above) when I happened to see your message about downloading the song. Did you find it eventually? If you haven't yet, I accidentally found it. If you click on the three dots next to the chat icon (above), it will give you the option to download the recording on your device. By the way, I live in Adelaide, South

Rosalia Quema Bland

Hit the enter button before I finished my message :). I'm in South Australia and I belong to the UkeAdelaide group that meet at the Adelaide Botanic Garden every other Sunday. Please check us out if you happen to live in Adelaide also. I'm thrilled to be a part of Cynthia Lin's beautiful community.

AnnMarie Hammond

that worked! thank you so much Rosalia :) I used to live in South Australia. I now live in Tassie

Rosalia Quema Bland

I'm glad that the link worked, AnnMarie. I love Tassie. I'm retired now but when I was still working, a group of us workmates (5 female ratbags :), visited different parts of Hobart and neighbouring areas and we loved it! I could live in Tasmania but my tropical origins are telling me to stay put in Adelaide. Btw, are you going to Cynthia's 10th Anniversary in Hawaii in March next year? I'm thinking of going and I hope to see you there if you are going. Take care.

AnnMarie Hammond

my eldest son is in Hobart ... I am on the NW coast :) I wish i could go to Hawaii ... not just for the Ukulele but also for the dancing <3 Money is tight so i just have to enjoy what i can at home. But I live in a beautiful place and have access to all of my favourite creative things here at home.

Denise Wade

Hi All of you, Thank you for becoming part of my life. I am grateful for Cynthia, and for all the new friends/community I will be making/joining as we plug along together on ukulele and become the players we hope to be.

geraldine kerjan

1000 mercis ( = a thousand thanks) for your generous sharing and smiles that quickly become as addictive as my ukulélé daily moments ;)

Jan Fell

We are totally delighted to have found Cynthia and her amazing group. Can't wait to do the 100 days of ukulele next year. That's a lot of days! Happy strumming to you all - Jan in New Mexico

Jackelin Slack

Carla Dufford

So thankful for you. I think you’re a wonderful teacher!

Sarah Brangan

I am a new member. I loved the 300k celebration jam! Cynthia, you have made it possible for me to learn and enjoy playing ukulele. Thank you for doing what you do!

Chipper Williams

I just love being a part of something. You opened the wonder world of the Ukulele to me. For that I am so thankful. 🙏🏼

Dusty Duke

I am about to turn 50. I have never played a musical instrument and my son (who seems to be a brilliant guitarist) bought me a ukulele 5 months ago. I practiced for a few weeks and became very frustrated and gave up. I then stumbled on one of your lessons and tried again with you. I am not very good yet but I can now strum and sing (without getting confused ) kiss the girl for my wife. Thank you Cynthia I have now set a goals with your help and have fallen in love with the ukulele. Dusty

Dawn Mach

Thanks for a bit of daily healing and a smile. Thanks for doing what you do. ,Grateful beginner

Robin Gonzalez

I’m so grateful to be part of your Patreon community! I first met you at the LA Ukulele Fest last year which was three months after picking up the ukulele for the first time. I realized how much I learn from you. The way you teach and your attitude towards life. I’m so happy that we all can help you with your art! Thanks to Patreon!!

Maria

thank you Cynthia.... ❣️🇵🇭

Ditte Wager

I have really loved being part of this community! Thank you for all the work you do, Cynthia, that helps us be creative and challenged. I have come leaps and strides better as a musician and have been able to pass that on to my small music community at school, where I hope to empower kids with the desire to work towards a larger goal! Thank you so much!

Ken (UKEn) Freestone

I love the community and positive energy you have brought to so many people around the world. My funniest moment was during one of your lessons when someone commented that the chords you were playing sounded a lot like the song sex and candy. During that online conversation, something you said started Siri recording. After I noticed Siri on I turned her off. Shortly after that I started getting some popup adds for some things related to the conversation. It was creepy and very funny! You in SF, me in MI, an online friend somewhere in the world triggered a funny event.

geri reilly

I have so enjoyed the whole community which you have encouraged; and the contagious joy of your lessons. I now own a ukulele. And I play a ukulele too. And that would have been unimaginable with Cynthia

Greg Crandall

Aloha Cynthia! You were the first person I found when I started my ukulele journey and you made a lasting impression. I was truly honoured to get to meet you in Melbourne and Sydney a few months back. Thank you for taking such great care of all of us as we journey with you! Mahalo 😊

Brandon Haas

My wife gave my daughter oldest daughter a ukulele a few years back because she thought it would be fun to have a person in the family that could play. Through your awesome teaching style that musician ended up being me. I have found much relaxation in reconnecting with music and now have a collection including an electric guitar style uke for those days when you just have to rock out! Thank you for helping me find a needed level of peace.

Ilene Hirsch

I’m so appreciative of you , Cynthia, for bringing such an amazing community together around the 4 string instrument that we all love. You’re a skilled teacher who makes complicated tunes accessible., and I am so grateful. You’ve helped me achieve my life long dream of playing a musical instrument. I love the ukulele and I love your lessons. Thank you 💕.

Ben Bovard

Cynthia you inspired me to learn how to play the ukulele. Your tutorials on YouTube taught me how to play. Then I met the 100 song community and my confidence and playing just exploded!! Thank you

Maggie

And I love that your my ukulele and CL buddy! You are doing fantastic!

Anita Ovalle de Garcia

Thank you for taking the time to make most of your arrangements doable for all level of players! You helped me in so many ways. I can’t thank you enough for this beautiful community that has bought us all together. 💕

Maggie

I’ve been a paid Patreon of Yours since October of 2015. (With a few months off here and there!) 😉 I do give Your free YouTube tutorials credit for really opening the door to learning those first few songs. Which made me feel like I was making my own music. 🎶 When that door is opened in a person that feels that music has lived in their soul but hasn’t always found a way out... it is a GIFT. I hear this is so many other peoples stories. Music has become my meditation. Moving up to the Patreon level helped me expand my songs, which helped my confidence, which encouraged me to keep learning. Five minutes a day became my mantra too. You were affordable and I was learning so much. You helped me thrive as a beginner and beyond. The best part was it has been one song at a time. That was important- because I (most adult learners) didn’t have time to start learning from the ground up. I just wanted to make music. I needed a whole song! Learning a whole song helped me keep practicing and made me feel part of the music makers club. Less than a year later, I took a brief break from Patreon while I started a ukulele group! Oh, why? Because CL said it’s better to be in a group! So, i asked your thoughts... you answered my email! I got a group together. Now I’m leading a Ukulele group!? 🤦🏼‍♀️ it’s crazy!? I never thought I’d be doing what I’m doing 5 years ago! My group is prepping for 3 concerts in December (2 paid) and two more paid concerts at major local venues next January and February! All because Cynthia said... it’s better together! And it is. When I came back a few months later I found not just CL waiting for me but.... this network of CL Patrons that were as kind and as supportive as CL. Major ALOHA. 🌺 Thank you Cynthia for investing time and energy into giving us a platform to connect with each other. This sets you a part on the ukulele scene. Opening music to people is such a gift. Making music is a gift. Cynthia, I’m glad you feel it’s gifts back and you can hear how the gift of music is and can be so important to those of us that you’ve opened this door for. I love this post from you. Thank you for sharing. Favorite moment was meeting some of the online patrons in person. I hope that I can keep meeting them over the years! 🕊❤️🎶🌺 Positive Intentions out to the world can and will make the world a better place! What a gift that you are living the life you were made for and you found a way to brighten others lives in the meantime. That. Is a life. Well. Lived.

nancyosterman

This has been such a positive friendly community! Thank you Cynthia!

John Lynch

I started my Uke journey years ago with Michael Lynch ... never really was able to play and sing at the same time. Stumbled upon Cynthia on YouTube looking for Disney music for ukulele as we neared Disney World ... found your tutorial on Kiss the Girl ... love!!! Joined Patreon a few weeks later and everything has moved to a new level. My Uke goes everywhere ... playing and singing on my balcony on our trip to Jamaica this past spring with a decent sized binder of songs I can play.

TimmO

I have been here (“ Patreon of Idaho”) from the get-go... maybe one of a very small original group. Ukulele has changed my life, my focus, expectations, confidence ...not sure where that list would end. Two things are most striking to me about this uke-journey - 1) Cynthia, you lead by example... that has helped me find my own path, and get started building my own style and 2) although lately I have not been as active in the Patreon community as I was early on, I logged into the 300k ukefest, and was delighted to reconnect with old friends and jam on a bunch of tunes that I hadn’t played in a long time. But they came back like riding a bike! Mahalo!

Marliese Stohr

Christina Ciano

The fact that you've never played an instrument saddens me a little because your name couldn't be a more perfect Stage Name! You need to get out there and use it. :)

Kerry Liang

Thanks Cynthia for being a wonderful uke teacher. I don’t have any uke friends so I feel like you and our patron community are my uke friends. xx

Bruce Walsh

Thank you Cynthia, we have a small (20 +) group called Down River Ukes in Yamba NSW Australia. We follow your charts and use the multi parts to create music together. My greatest Patron moment was taking part in a workshop you ran at SPRUKE in Brisbane this year.

Leah Woosley

I was so happy to find you online, a wonderful teacher who taught songs in my preferred keys and vocal range, who had a strong and easy on the ears voice to listen to. #jackpot Your teaching style was so easy to follow, and ukulele was so fun and easy to learn. I am also very thankful to be part of this community, I have met so many wonderful people (online and in-person) by being part of this group. You help bring us together, and there is so much joy there. I'm also doing all kings of wonderful things like playing and singing in front of people on a fairly routine basis, and getting paid to do it! I probably never would have started doing that without the support and positive feedback from people in this community. Also teaching others through the ukulele group I started has been a very rewarding experience, thanks for the push/support to do it!

Linda Rosetti

Thanks so much for the great song " You've got a friend". I can't wait for the tutorial.! A friend asked me the other day for piano tutorial. Do you have any suggestions for great tutorials like your's??

Sheilah Seaberg

Thanks to you Cynthia and to all the community members! I really appreciate that you provide options for beginning-level folks and also more difficult options for challenge.

Dana

What a beautiful rendition of one of my favorite songs. Thank you

marion verhulsdonck

Thanks for your music and wonderfull teaching ! I Always thought i had no talent for playing an instrument. Thanks to your teaching and music i've discovered that i can play and enjoy. I play with my neighbour and hopefully there is time in a few years for a uke community in my vicinity. For the moment i'm happy being an patreon and learning from you. I'love the play-alongs and jam sessions. probably i will attend the SF uke fest in 2021. Thanks again

Jeff S Gepfert

My $5 per month patronage is a tribute to Cynthia Lin. It is the best investment I've ever made! I have paid for music lessons since I was a kid and I have benefited from all of them but they pale in comparison to the tutorials that Cynthia has provided. I was speaking to a friend about my strumming and my difficulty with it when she asked if I had considered getting myself a "strumming tutorial"? This was the beginning of my journey with Cynthia Lin! I cannot say enough about the ROI (return on investment)! My small support $ will never be enough to thank Cynthia for her time and talent!

Paula Armijo

Cynthia, I continuously praise your incredible talent and teaching ability to ALL of my uke friends! After finding your tutorials and chord charts online my skills have advanced tremendously. Your song arrangements are so much fun and easy to follow. I love the picking patterns and strumming styles you teach us. I wish I could find a guitar teacher online with the teaching talent you have! Like Jeff, I have never learned from a better instructor than you. You are so generous with offering free printable chord charts. After printing a few songs for free, I decided to become a patron so that I may give a little back to you for all your effort and generosity. My deep gratitude goes out to your friendly and super helpful support team as well! One Love from Colorful Colorado!!! :-)

Jennie Ojeda

Many thanks for your generous desire to share and engage others in learning and stretching one's abilities to enjoy the ukulele and to further promote enjoyment derived from playing the ukulele. May you and your teaching ability keep on the horizon!!!! Jennie

Lisa Harris

Like others, I can’t thank you enough Cynthia for getting me through the early stages of learning. I have tried to learn several instruments but have given up because life got in the way. Now Uke is so part of my life I know I will continue to learn it for the rest of my life. I think my ‘moment’ was when I started to do the live lessons and got taken really out of my comfort zone, but somehow managed to be able to sort of play along by the end of the lesson - particularly when you just happened to be going through some of my absolute favorite songs, I just felt like crying with joy. I had finally found music in my life and it was here to stay. Thanks to everyone who participates in the live lessons, your questions and humor are always wonderful- mixed in with a bit of compassion for the world. Thanks for your energy, your enthusiasm, your patience and your generosity.

Jacqueline Pelaez

Thanks a lot Cynthia for your teaching, your personality, your honesty in what you do, your talent but especially for sharing all that with you us , your followers and fans. BTW, do you have the chords of "You' ve got a friend", that is one of my favorites songs of all times. Thanks again for all you do.

Adriana Yon

I've tried and failed to learn to play musical instruments many times, but once I found the ukulele and your tutorials about a year and a half ago, Cynthia, I finally reached a lifelong goal of playing music. It has been such a fun and fulfilling journey. I'm also grateful for the positivity and camaraderie of the online community you helped create. It, too, has been encouraging along my journey.

Shelley Rubzow

Hello Cynthia - When I was a child I took my parents put me in piano lessons, I always had music in my life. I loved playing piano and performing in musical theatre in highschool. In my 20s the logical side of my brain took over and I strayed away from music. I was a bookkeeper for 20 years and most of that coincidentally in the music industry. I did books for Bryan Adams for a few years, then worked for a band called Loverboy for 15 years after that. I don't know why I stuffed my music down maybe because I was surrounded by such talent and I felt I wasn't worthy? No one knew I used to play. I'm retired now and after getting a ukulele for my birthday 2 years ago from my husband, I found your videos. Something exploded and all the music came back. People who didn't know me when I was a kid were astonished how quickly I picked it up. It goes to show if you have it in you it's just there. Cynthia you brought it out of me and I am forever grateful. Your videos are so encouraging, you are always so happy (even when you're sick). I love taking your live lessons and I learn so much. You have created a wonderful non-judging encouraging community. I went from a closet player to a confident performer (for family and friends only so far). I told you when we met at SF UkeFest 2019 that what you do changed my life and I still mean it. Thank you Cynthia :-)

Heather Ellen

I attribute my love of ukulele to you Cynthia. I love your tutorials, your passion, your generosity , your creativity and the way you inspire me and others. I am now the proud owner of your first signature ukulele. I decided as soon as it came out that I owed it to you and to myself to own this lovely instrument and it has taken over a year to get it here to New Zealand and I love it so much. Being involved in the 100 days of ukulele songs was such a confidence boost for me and I really did feel part of the community. I now consider myself to have many "friends" throughout the world. I want to be so much better than I am and I know that will require much more practice, but I do play a little every day and it brings me such joy. I share my playing and singing with my 96 year old mum when I go to visit her every month. It is a wonderful thing to do and we have quite a few laughs too. Thank you to you, the community and the joy of music.

Terrina Fairbrother

Cynthia thank you so very much for your time and patience creating such simplistic and achievable yet stimulating and progressive tutorials!!!! I am constantly amazed when I go back over previous lessons at the improvement I have made which is due to your practical and simple teaching style. I have gone from a complete beginner getting totally lost in a beginner lesson till now - able to work out the beginner song both the chords and the strumming pattern from sight!!!! The intermediate lessons still challenge me but after a period of practicing I can now get them albeit with a much slower tempo than what they should be played in . My husband has gone from complaining about my Uke playing to now - creating my own music room and buying me an amp as a compete surprise for my birthday!!!! I feel proud that thru YOU I have started three friends off on their own Uke journeys - one of which has just joined you on Patreon too!!! Thank you so so much for sharing your passion and energy with us all xxxxx

Smudge

Finding you started my trajectory of ukulele playing. I have played many instruments in my life, but none of them have grabbed me like the uke. I thank you for your wonderful arrangements and accessible tutorials that really got me going! Thank you so much!!!

Carmel Adams

Thank you so much, this is lovely. I love your style of teaching and appreciate your generosity in all you do to share your talent and knowledge. You bring a lot of happiness to others. I unfortunately missed you when you were in Brisbane. I was just recovering from heart surgery and could not make it. I'll be 'hanging out' for next time.

Victoria Llamado

Thank you, Cynthia for this song. I can't wait to the tutorial for this song. It couldn't have come at a better time.

Rich Montoya

Well, first off it has been a sincere pleasure to meet you. When I first followed you on YT I never thought I would have an opportunity to meet you. Then you came to Hawaii and did a strum along at the record store, then you came back and did a show at SALT - then you moved to Hawaii - Wow! I offered to help out with starting up your community here on Oahu with any support I could offer and you provided me with that opportunity - thank you! As much as i enjoy supporting and attending your strum alongs I really get the biggest pleasure from meeting your fans. They are all super nice people, I truly enjoy talking with them at the events and it is so amazing to see how much your time and your gift of music and teaching means to everyone. For that reason alone I have to totally agree with you that this Patreon community (as well as on the other platforms) truly does make the world a better place. And finally, my sincere thanks Cynthia for letting be a small part of this great journey! Aloha.

My husband and I attended a silent auction for our local public radio station KSUT in the Four Corners area (NM, CO, UT, AZ). One of the items was lovely Ohana ukulele and 2 free lessons. We never went for the lessons, but we did pick up the ukulele and opened your videos on You Tube. You are so much fun! Fast forward- I also teach on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. I was able to purchase a class set of ukuleles and ran an after school class for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. They were able - through your excellent teaching - to master enough skill to sing and perform Silver Bells and Mele Kalikimaka at our Christmas program. There has never been a music program at our school before, so their performance was a HUGE hit.

I have always dreamed of being able to play a musical instrument . . . "and dreams really do come true_oooooo" (Lesson #5) I am so very thankful I found Cynthia Lin on Youtube!!! I bought a sweet Oscar Schmidt OU3 Concert Spruce Top Ukulele via Amazon and plan to promote Cynthia Lin, Oscar Schmidt ukuleles and ukulele playing in my upcoming seminars and upcoming book, BLOCKBUSTER BRANDING. I also have plans to promote Cynthia via a marketing campaign I'm pitching to AZ Senator Martha McSally to help our military veterans via ukulele playing!!! How awesome is that?!! Thank You Forever Cynthia for all that you are and all that you do. You have made a beautiful difference in my life . . . and soon in the lives of our veterans. God Bless You! ;-)

Hi, Cynthia. I was raised in a musical family. As I was growing up - years before you lighted this world - all of our family gatherings (Thanksgiving, of course, being a regular event) were packed with music - everybody sang and my father, uncles and a brother all played guitar. What a marvelously rich childhood that was! (I've made a 4-CD set colecting those gems that were captured over the years, going all the way back to a wire recorder.) As a result, I've always had a musical interest, and have toyed with the idea of learning guitar but it always seemed so daunting to me. Now I'm a few months into retirement, and I've focused my interest on uke for a multitude of reasons. I actually am just finishing "printing" a 3D-printed soprano uke - can't wait until it's finished. (I have a backup concert uke on the way.) Now I'm searching YouTube for appropriate beginnings and I found and have fallen in love with your persona and style. Although your smile could light the neighborhood, I'm here for the lessons, and looking forward to growing in the skill thanks to your patient and well-thought-out training. Thank you for making this available.

Allyn McColley

Hi. I’m a late bloomer but have been playing a couple of years. I’ve been on this site since 2018 but just recently switched from the $1 level to the $20. I think I’m ready for more challenging songs now. I have started a uke club and an intro to uke program at our library, have started a uke club at our community school and we have started providing free ukulele checkouts at the library. as well. One thing kind of leads into another. Whenever I have a question about how a song sounds or how a chord or strum should be played, I refer to the Cynthia Lin Patreon site for clarification. Our Uke club also sometimes follows along with Cynthia Lin play-alongs on YouTube, for inspiration. Some of the group are also CL patrons. Playing along with the Youtube videos helps the group to try songs they might not normally try. Thanks Cynthia for all you do! On a personal note, I appreciate how positive and welcoming CL patrons are. I haven’t been able to connect with Live Lessons yet, but look forward to doing so, and I appreciate being able to access all of the lessons and tutorials at other times. Aloha

Sam Gengo

After years of playing trumpet and piano, I recently bought a uke on a whim! As I was searching online 'how-to' videos, you had me at, "Aloha Everyone!" I am in sync with your teaching style, demonstrations, and explanations of everything from timing to technique. I am looking forward to progressing on my instrument, exploring the Patreon Community, and becoming a musician that others would enjoy hearing as I play.

Cheri Schuyler

You are an inspiration to so many! It is always such a joy to run into another Cynthia Lin fan. What I appreciate most (and I love all you do so much) is your teaching style. You make me feel like I can accomplish anything on my uke. It has also helped me in sharing the ukulele love in my community. I have been a teacher for a long time and I am thrilled to keep learning more about the craft of teaching through your Patreon group. Thank you. Aloha!

Amy Petelka

I bought a ukulele in February because I wanted to increase dexterity, memory, coordination and make some music. Wow! It's been a ride, I try to play everyday to get those callouses hard. I am really enjoying your videos and the downloadable chord charts. Music is much more fun when you can try all kinds! Thank you!

Steve Awakuni

Aloha Cynthia -- Mahalo for doing your livestream over the weekend. in these troubling times, I saw folks sign in from all over the world. It was a beautiful thing. I have to support your work! Big Mahalo - Steve Awakuni

Diane Naar

Aloha Cynthia, thank you for bringing joy and contentment to do many of us who love the ukulele. I appreciate your kind, patient teaching approach and your amazing expertise.Thank you, thank you, thank you

Maureen Wood

Jennifer Boyd

My 8 year old daughter and 39 year old husband and self are desperately trying to learn ukulele. You are the absolute BEST, and we appreciate all the care you put into your lessons! Love from Texas!!

Ken Chong

Aloha Cynthia! I'm actually speechless and at a loss for words. I think you found me and I've been blessed to discover you. There, our paths crossed. Somehow you videos on you tube made it's way into the palm of my hands on my iPhone-11. Once I started viewing the first video, in turned into a 2-1/2 hour viewing session. Then came the download of chord charts and sign-up of my first live jam session at Wholefoods in Honolulu, Hawaii. I did not know what to expect, what to wear, what to bring except the music sheets that I printed and a low cost ukulele named the Waterman by Kala Ukuleles. Upon my arrival it was pretty much standing room only. Not a seat in sight except for the ONLY one right in front of you, front and center. Can you believe it? I don't know what was more difficult for me. Watching you perform like some famous musician and I had a front row seat or decoding and playing the chords on the fret board of my ukulele at the same time. But I had the time of my life. It was so much FUN and relaxing at the same time playing along with everyone there. I was a sea shell in the company of many sand pebbles on the shore. Beached for life. Thank you for what you do and all you do. Much appreciation to all those that support you and your cause as well. I'd like to close with your usual rapid stumming at the end of each song we play. Tada! Aloha Ken

Ken Chong

Sorry for the typos and spell check adjustments. Ugh. hahaha

phil gorman

With the world the way it is now and working from home, I've been spending more time than usual practicing (much like many of us). I've found that I'm most often using your tutorials and song sheets and i felt that I should do something to support what you do for the community. That you freely give your time and talents is incredibly generous. It is a pleasure to work through your tutorials. Playing the ukulele is such as positive experience and you help make it so much better. Very soon (when we can start hanging out in the park again) i might feel confident enough to actually play for my friends. I know you'll help get me there.

helena fifer

Aloha Cynthia. I started up with the uke when the virus hit, and I have been visiting your youtube videos every day for the last month. I have been meaning to become a patron, and today I finally remembered to do it. Thank you for being such a great teacher. Your style- and your spirit- keep me coming back every day and keep me feeling positive about what the world could be, if we all treated strangers the way you do.

Deborah Bowen

Aloha Cynthia, I have been playing the uke for only a short time. Taking lessons in my local community (which are now virtual lessons). I have been following your free you tube lessons for a few months now. You are such an inspiration, you have a most beautiful voice and are a shining light to everyone who watches you. I am so happy to have finally become a patron. THANK YOU!!!

Pam Welch

Hi Cynthia, I have just started playing the uke this past year. I found you on the tube and think you are such an incredible teacher and looking for to being a patron and learning more form you. Thank you!!

Florante Ibanez

Aloha....Mahalo for all you and Lenny Do...… Stay Safe & God Bless

Christine Erickson

Aloha from the frozen tundra in Wisconsin. Have to say thanks to you, I've come quite a long way since starting in February! Although I play other instruments, strings have always been tough for me. I love the little tricks you show us about technique, and I'm looking at playing in a different way. Working my way through "Blackbird" right now, a challenge for sure, but I don't mind playing a little over my head! Happy to be here!

Leilani Villanueva

Mabuhay! I stumbled upon your videos on YouTube and I LOVE 'em. I am eager to improve my uke playing skills (Ha-ha...watch out world!). Playing the uke has been very therapeutic for me after my spouse passed away and I just want to continue to play it. ",) Thank you for the opportunity of making this a reality for me. God bless you, Cynthia.

Heather

Aloha Cynthia,

Heather

feeling really blest to have found you online. Received my uke for Christmas and the Uke for dummies book, which I’m sure was written by my eighth-grade Canadian history teacher. Thank you so much for your style and teaching ability! I’ve learned so much...I’ve amazed myself!!! 😎🙏👍

Linda Sikes

Thank you, Cynthia. I have read the other heart-felt comments and ;must admit I feel exactly the same way. I too, discovered you on You-Tube and now feel like you are my best friend. The Coronavirus has us in really strange times and learning to play the uke, with your help, has been such a bright spot in my day. Your music is such a gift to this sad, sickened world and I am so happy that I am a Patreon and can contribute too.

Kayla Lynn

I’m an elementary music teacher and I started teaching myself to play the ukulele about 5 years ago so I could incorporate into my curriculum. I now teach all of my 4th-5th graders how to play! I’m continuously learning myself and I love your work. You play and sing so beautifully. Thank you!

Kim

Thank you so much for doing these lessons. You have such a kind, gentle, and joyful way of teaching. I'm so glad to have found you!

Rachele Lamontagne

I started learning ukulele in January (premonition?) and my class was cancelled in February. I then turned to online videos and discovered your lessons. I even played three songs on an Easter zoom party! Thank you, you are helping me keep my sanity. Next time you come to the bay

Janet Harradine

I'm am new to ukulele, and watch lots of your free tutorials, so it's only fair to support you through patreon. Thank you. (From Australia)

Akanksha

Aloha Cynthia! Thank you for all your youtube tutorials for Uke. They are amazing and you seem absolutely wonderful. Can't wait to be a part of this journey with you and this community! xoxo

Telepen1 .

I can't play with my small uke group because of lockdown but since discovering your lessons I've learnt a lot and hope to improve.

nimbusbud

Thank you so much for your uke tutorials. I've never played before, but thanks to your videos I think I do okay. Playing uke has been fun and also a way for me to cope and support my brother who is working on the front lines to combat Covid-19. I am happy that my uke playing (thanks to you + this community!), can bring some joy to him amidst the stress.

Roxanne Zolin

Dear Cynthia, I tried once before to play the Ukulele and even took private lessons but failed, even though I play the piano and harp. With the COVID-19 Pandemic lock down here in Australia, and hearing a great Polinesian friend play the Ukulele I decided I had to learn! I tried some free online tutorials but they were hard to follow and not much fu, until I found you! I was going to do all your free online classes until I found Ukulennie's Birthday Party. It was so much fun I realised that is what was missing from my Uke experience! So of course I joined up! Looking forward to playing the Uke with you and your other Patrons! Cheers, Roxanne

Camille

I discovered you on Youtube those days and I fell in love with your way of teaching. You are so positive and encouraging and I like your approach of taking the time to learn, the slow tempo demos, how to build up on things to train the brain. I'm looking forward to progressing with you and the community. Love, Camille

Lisa Literation

Hi Cynthia, I picked up my daughter's ukulele during quarantine and have watched many uke teaching channels on YouTube, but yours are the ones I keep coming back to. Your teaching style of breaking everything down and starting slowly makes it easy not to get discouraged. My daughter (age 5) LOVES you and we watch your videos together a lot. Thanks for your generosity in sharing your knowledge. Keep it up!

Mariana Stern

Thank you Cynthia for making uke music accessible to all! I learned to play thanks to your tutorials, playing the uke has brought so much joy in my life, cannot thank you enough! You are changing the world, one uke at a time!

Chris

Hello Cynthia ! I'm deeply thankful for all your tutorials, videos and kindness. This may be a hard period but music keep me up and I can now play many great song thanks to you. I really appreciate your lessons and I can now support you through Patreon. Please be safe and keep making a world a better place for music, uke and people !

Robynne Mouissie

Your tutorials on YouTube have helped me learn how to play uke which brings so much joy. Thank you!

Erin Andrade

Thank you so much for posting these great videos. Playing the ukele has been a great source of stress relief. Even playing a song a day or practicing a few minutes a day is very relaxing. Thanks for your great resources!

Janette L Hayhurst

I work as an administrative assistant to the director of a large middle school choir program. So when told to pack up what I needed from the office, I grabbed the choir room Ukulele "just in case" I needed something to do while sheltering in place. I found your videos and loved your teaching style and the fact that you embrace your soprano voice! I'm in my 50's and trained classically on oboe and piano so the relaxed pace of the Ukulele community is a welcome change to my own music education. I can't wait to learn more! Thanks! Jan H.

Anne Shute

I have just joined and as we are dealing with the pandemic, it is a fitting platform to learn, share and perform. I am in a ukulele band and we of course are unable to have band practises at present, we are however connecting online. Thanks for your lovely posts.

Peter Renders

I've watched/listened to your videos from time to time over the last four years. I even have your signature on on of my ukuleles. I'm looking forward to "working" on improving my skills with you. Thank you for what you do.

PATRICIA CHU

I find myself wanting to play and learn more during quarantine here in San Francisco. I have been zooming with you and Ukulenny. What I continue to go back to are your youtube tutorials. They are both a familiar comfort and a challenge. I appreciate how you spread your aloha with your gifts that keep on giving:)

Jennifer Numainville

I recently bought a Uke at a fundraiser and was getting a little disheartened trying to learn on my own. Your videos have helped me feel like I might be able to play! Thanks!

Mark R Flynn

Thanks for your dedication. I started playing guitar in 1966 played for many years was in a band, a garage band but still lots of fun. In 2000 I had been injured and couldn't lift my arms to play the guitar. In the last 20 years , a couple of repair operations I still could not comfortably play the guitar. Now this year after watching a couple of Ukulele video's , you popped up , I bought a ukulele and have been playing daily watching your video's, contributing to downloads etc. I'm so (really) grateful that I've come across this amazing community of people that have contributed to the happy sounds now bouncing around inside my home. Thank you Cynthia

Brenda Bender

Newbie! Love playing along with the tutorials!

Patricia Gregory

I am just starting and joined since I loved the tutorials on YouTube.

Jennifer Keating

I have a bit of a music background. I've played the trumpet for years! Never majored in music, just love music. I discovered the ukulele out of nowhere. I can't even remember what triggered it. So, I stopped one day with my daughter at Pittsburgh Guitars and bought a ukulele. I found your videos online and of all I've viewed, you are by far my favorite. Your lessons a simple, realistic, friendly, comfortable, fun, and I get better all the time. Your lessons and the ukulele provide the same: happiness, comfort, peace, joy. Love you both. Thanks, Cynthia!!

Evelyn Abston

You have a beautiful voice and I love hearing you singing and playing the Uke. I didn't realize how versatile this lovely instrument is. I played the acoustic guitar for over 40 years then I started getting arthritis in my wrist and it was too hard. but with the Ukulele, it is so much easier. I am loving playing my Ukulele.

Gayl Chun

I just moved a tier up, been learning for about 7 months. I am HOD for SOAZ, Special Olympics got a grant to get Ukuleles and teach the kiddos to play. So we have a Unified Ukulele group, called Westside Roadrunners, not easy but having great fun. It's taking me 3 months to teach them to strum D open chord, now they can strum DU DU C chord. They all have concerts and 2 of us have tenors. I have a cocobolo tenor.

George horner

I purchased a super cheap starter pack from Amazon a few years ago learned a few songs here and there but didn't put a lot of time into it. About a year ago I discovered your YouTube videos and I really liked your teaching Style. I play the bass guitar and have been studying music most of my life majoring in music in high school and college. However the base is not exactly the right instrument to accompany around the campfire. I've enjoyed sitting in the rocking chair what's my two-and-a-half-year-old singing songs together sometimes badly but always fun. And yes I do now own a much better tenor ukulele I'm currently looking at banjolele to purchase they just look like too much fun

Catherine Court

I have a massive girl crush on you Cynthia, LOL. You have single-handedly gotten me through this covid crisis. Your calm teaching method, sweet voice and positivity has inspired me to join this group for full access to all things Uke ! Thank you!

Ellie E

and I love you too! Love your voice and playing.

federica cecchini

Always wanted to play Uke and your tutorials made it possible. You are an amazing teacher, thank you so much.

Linda Lewis

I have played musical instruments all my life, mainly brass, saxophone, keyboard, drums, recently challenged by a band mate to take up ukulele. Never played guitar so a completely new area for me, and I,m in my sixties! Started playing December 2019 using your youtube demos, joined the local uke band in January 2020, then LOCKDOWN !! from March 2020. All my band practices and gigs stopped (I am in 4 bands). But, the Ukulele community pulled together worldwide and I am so busy with Internet Jams, playalongs and tuition, both locally here in the UK and from all over the world. Fantastic, my music has certainly helped me get through these strange times.

Paula Valentina Amore

Sei bravissima.

BJ Anderson

Cynthia, you have given me hours and hours of instruction that I can understand and learn from, PLUS beautiful singing, PLUS great uke playing, AND so much LiveStream fun with UkuLenny, AND, AND AND, etc. etc. etc.!!. I was a Patreon member a few years back but fell away and wasn't playing much. Sheltering in place has turned me into a daily uke player -- something you've always encouraged! :-) Thank you for your lovely rendition of "You've Got a Friend" -- I look forward to many years as your fan and patron!!!

Beth Manansala

In my early days I played in a marching band, playing numerous drums. As I aged I lost all my talent. I wanted to learn how to play the Uke, as I love how compact it is as well as it's sound. I bought my Uke about a year ago now, along with a lesson book. It teaches cords well and has a recorded lesson plan, which was ok. But I got antsy and wanted to learn a song. I went to YouTube and found so many options to learn. Not all worked well for me until I stumbled across your free video for I'm Yours. I'm hooked, enjoying learning to strum and play. Although I still haven't gotten signing and playing at the same time down just yet. THANK YOU!!

Andrew Lea

Thank you for making shelteringinplace alot more fun!

Emily Stehle

Hi Cynthia, I've been visiting you online for three years or so and had always planned to support you. Today is the day I commit! I've enjoyed your tutorials and music choices, but what convinced me was your Facebook group "100 Days of Ukulele Songs 2020." A simple concept, but a very caring and loving way to encourage all of us to practice more doing our passion. I'm on Day 36 and having a blast learning to be a better player and (volunteer) teacher. I'm also meeting new uke friends from all over world who "get me." So cool! Thank you.

Sarah Fales

I am truly grateful to be a part of this community now. I cannot thank you enough for all that you do. A friend had recommended your youtube videos to me right before the quarantine began. I knew absolutely nothing about the ukulele but was determined to at least try. It didn't take long to become hooked and happy to be playing. I feel like I've uncovered a part of myself that I didn't even know existed, truly amazing! I really love your teaching style and cannot wait to learn more. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Norma Diana Sings 4U

I’ve been teaching my grandkids Uke since the lockdown began, we discovered you and your wonderful tutorials!!! My 11 year old granddaughter is about to pass me by, her new goal is to learn Here Comes the Sun! She found it and is working on the My Girl fingerpicking now. Loving how you give special short cuts to make it easier for our future playing. Thank you so much for all you do!

Tamara Lindsay

I'm excited to be a part of this community. Thanks Cynthia for helping me get started with the ukulele!

Nia

I've been following Cynthia for about a week and a half. I have learned more from Cynthia than I had from the books and other online uke players. For the first time I felt I needed to become a patron because of the value I have already recieved through her tutorials

Aileen Rowe

I have spent much of lockdown on my own, and working through your tutorials has made this time much easier to cope with. I play every day, and it really makes me happy. I am currently attempting to master shallow. Thank you !!

Marie Fritzberg

I just discovered you, Cynthia, and I love your teaching style and can't wait to learn more from you. Had to join! I've been playing almost every day during shelter in place here in WA state, and am so excited to find you! Aloha!

Jenny Selig

Hi, Erica. Are you looking for something specific? There's lots for beginners here. Welcome!

Karen Selig

I am also one of those who has begun learning the uke since the stay-at-home orders here in Washington state. I've watched several of your beginner lessons and really appreciate your teaching skills and style! But then again I knew I would, since I've seen how much my daughter Jenny Selig enjoys your work and you! I just joined today and am glad to be among those supporting the good work you are doing.

Gaëlle

I'm very happy to join the community. I wanted to thank you Cynthia for all what you share and thought it is the simplest way :-)

Ashley Barrile

I got a ukulele for my birthday 1.5 years ago from my husband. After trying and failing to learn SO MANY instruments, your lessons are the reason I was able to play an amazing song, live on Zoom for my graduation from pediatric emergency medicine fellowship last week. 14 years post-high school education culminated in me being able make so many other front line doctors laugh, sing along, and have a great few minutes together. Thank you for everything!

Becky Bloom

I ripped through so many of your online lessons over the last week! Your teaching style is accessible and friendly and I am glad to have found this community.

CappyP

Cynthia, I just want to thank you for all you do. I have been learning from your videos for nearly 3 years.

jim

I just picked up the Ukulele a week ago. I've watched a number of your videos on YouTube and I'm enjoying your lessons. I like your teaching style, playing and positive attitude. I just got here so I can't say anything about this community but by the sounds of it, music to my ears, it's going to a wonderful group to become a member of. Looking forward to it! Aloha and Mahalo !

Nancy Braun

As a beginner, I played a bit on a pink plastic uke. It was fun. Then, I decided to join a local group to improve my meager skills. I went to a music store, had the owner play several ukuleles for me and chose your Cynthia Lin Ohana ukulele! Loved the sound, great entry level concert uke. Your teaching style and gentle manner are what keeps me going. I’ve downloaded some song packets and played along with your jams. It’s surprising how I jump a little in playing ability. I always warm up with chord transitions which make the difference. I thank you for your instruction in strumming styles. There are so many! May I use this space to thank Ukulenny! You two are great together! I’ve gained so much enjoyment from learning from you. I’m buying another Cynthia Lin Ohana ukulele for one of my daughters. She is stoked! Thank you for what you are putting out in the world. I am grateful.

Adrienne Gragg

Hi Cynthia! I received a uke for Mother's Day this year and have been obsessed with playing it. I LOVE your tutorials and so appreciate all that you do to teach others. I am so happy (and a little stunned) with my progress, and a lot of that is thanks to you. I look forward to going through all of your lessons! Many thanks!

Deirdre Pitre

Thank you Cynthia! Your voice and your teaching style are so lovely and you make learning the uke so enjoyable. I have just joined and am learning my way around the site. So much to learn and feeling quite excited about being a part of this community! Thanks again Cynthia for all you do!

paul read

Thankyou Cinthia. I'm a hopeless Uke player but getting better every day by following your lessons. You're making learning enjoyable, which is absolutely the most important thing! Beautiful teaching style from a talented lady with a golden voice, in stunning surroundings, what more could anyone wish for?

Bonnie Nelson

I am so looking forward to studying the ukulele with you. I found you because I wanted to learn "Leaving on a Jet Plane" - an old favorite of mine. I was very impressed with the quality of your step by step tutorial. I have seen your videos before and always liked them. Now I am hooked! During this pandemic and staying at home the one silver lining is more time to practice my uke! Blessings to you and all your other patrons.

john A Foy

Hi Cynthia and the community! I've haltingly downloaded a few songs/lessons from Facebook and I'm happy to join the community. The ukulele is one of the things I do so poorly (today!), that brings me such pleasure.

So happy to become part of this community. I’ve been learning ukelele for about 4 months now and Cynthia’s tutorials are making the process so much fun. I’m so grateful for her generosity with her teaching tools, knowledge, talent, time and positivity! I’m so excited to continue this journey alongside you all!

Phoebe Eng

Hi Cynthia, You are a gift to all of us, creating such an aloha-filled community through ukulele. So many mahalos for all that you do to keep love in the world, especially in these Covid-challenged times. You're creating ripples, opening up so many hearts in ways too numerous to describe. Blessings to you.

Henry Sandigo

I am a Patron of two other sites. I think this is a great way to glean information and gain a bit of knowledge for me at a small cost and to help the folks sharing their knowledge. I am 80, and have been locked in for the most part of 5 months, and I have lost a sense of time, when I actually stayed at home, I don’t recall. I did not make a note of the day my wife and I started. I have completed 50 if not more projects regarding our home, plus a veggie garden. I saw an ad on Instagram about building your own Ukulele. I bit, finished it and began looking for a place to land and learn. Thank you for being available and open to helping me.

Polly Keeney

Hi there Cynthia..... I never thought such a tiny instrument could steel my heart but it did and here I am ! loving every minute of the sound and your wonderful teaching methods not to mention your beautiful voice. I cannot wait to explore all the exciting music and meet the people in this community on the same journey.... Thank you for being of service to humanity....

Diane

Hi Cynthia, Although I tried to play piano diligently for five years, I always knew there was a less complicated instrument for me. I do play handbells, but that's stopped, as church groups can't meet due to COVID-19. Anyway...my friend has let me keep is uke and I am in love with it!! I feel like a part of me has surfaced that was untapped until now. I'm 66 years old, and this will definitely keep me young at heart and in my brain. God bless you and your mission of love and peace.

Christine Zeliger

Hello, Cynthia and my new uke community! I just got a ukelele from my 2nd grade class and I

Christine Zeliger

I've LOVED learning from you. You make it so fun and easy to follow! I've even got my older daughter joining me in jams with her guitar :). I can't wait to continue to improve and play for my second graders - and my friends and family, too!

Kristy Alagna

Been following you on You Tube channel for 2 years in my 'quest' to play Uku. Even with your kind & patient tutorials, I felt 'meh' to practice on my own. I found your Patreon-gig TODAY! I feel this is the inspired community-juice I need. Loved your story of why/how you transitioned from Taylor guitar to Uku - portable:) I'm not a musician (yet), I'm a writer. I often play with re-writing lyrics to standard/popular tunes, putting my own spin on the message of the song. I've also written a collection of 'Rhymin' Rhythmic Reminding Factors' ( https://www.kalagna.net/) that I've longed to put to music. Why Uku? Sound that spans the spectrum from simple/gentle to jazzy & upbeat (really want to learn chucking!). And ukulele feels more like an Accompaniment TO voice/lyric/story, rather than gotta-spend-years-developing-chops-on-the-instrument. A good fit for a poet!

Joan Anderson

Hello Cynthia! On April 4th of this year I started my joyful learning journey:

Joan Anderson

You truly have a gift for teaching. Thank you for sharing that gift. My bucket list is to have a class with you in San Francisco! I am so excited to learn each day. I love your version of Let it be and can’t wait to master that!

Maura Carty

Thank you so much just bough my first ukulele and you have helped me so much thanks again Maura Ireland

Tina Gonzalez

Hello Cynthia! During the pandemic, I picked up my daughter's ukulele - which was left in her room after she went off to college. I started following your YouTube videos and truly appreciate the way you share your knowledge and love of music. I'm so looking forward to continuing my journey -learning to play the ukulele along with you and your wonderful community. Tina

Melanie Parker-Gagné

Hello friends! During the pandemic, I developed some issues with my spine and was pretty much super house-bound. I felt really low and lonely. I decided to try the ukulele and I am having so much fun! I am happy to have found this community. Thank you!

Pam Conley

I started playing the Uke in April 2020 by watching your videos & using your chord sheet music. Thank you so much. I decided to join your patreon group so I could be a “paying customer” after all the freebies you so generously make available. With all this political turmoil going on & Covid, I turn to the uke as my meditation & access to peace of mind. I’m 63 & retired last year to a beautiful rural community in NE Oregon. You are a gifted teacher, so organized & uncomplicated. You’ve truly made my learning experience a joy😊😊

Kim Reed

My wife and I are picking up uses for the first time during Covid. Your videos are perfect for we beginners with no previous background on any instrument. Thanks for your pace and style!

Tricia Diduch

I have been enjoying your beginner lessons for a few months now and really appreciate your teaching skill and your love of music. It's so wonderful how you are sharing that with other people! I'm very happy to support your work, or passion, which music clearly is for you. Thank you for spreading the healing energy of music! I believe it helps make the world a better place! In gratitude, Tricia

Lynn Corin

I picked up my lovely tenor uke (a present from my in-laws that was sitting in my office gathering dust) at the start of lockdown and found your free videos on Youtube. I've always wanted to learn an instrument that is accessible and easily shared informally but it had become one of those 'never never' plans. I've loved every minute - thank you so much for keeping me sane during quarantine and helping me discover this. At 50 it's never too late to learn!!

Kathleen Ott

Hi Cynthia, I started uke 1 yr ago with a great teacher in Florida but very soon after we moved to Arizona & I haven't been able to find a good teacher. Then the pandemic caused me to stop learning. But I joined your group yesterday & hope to get back on track soon. Just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your style & dedication to music. I hope you are bearing the terrible fires well. We pray for you & all victims of these wildfires. Kathleen

Kathleen Ott

Lynn, I agree with all you said. I am fairly new to uke to and I'm 67. Uke is fun & keeping me sane too. My husband plays guitar so we can share the music. Good Luck to you.

Jerica Cates

Hi Cynthia, I just bought my first Ukulele and am excited about learning to play through your YouTube lessons. I don’t read music and have never played a musical instrument in my 69 years so this is going to be a fun challenge in our quarantine world. Thank you for making it possible. I love your Aloha spirit and your gift of teaching.

Lulu Leathley

I can’t thank you enough for your wonderful lessons! I am a Facilitator and Music Teacher who plays mostly percussion and playing the Uke has been on my list for ages...your teaching is excellent, I’ve been telling everyone about you. Many thanks!

Harke Baarda

Hi Cynthia, I have a uke sincse3 ears, I have learned a lot of you, Thanks for that.

Paula Stern

Just joined the Patreon community... I have been loving Cynthia's tutorials and have learned quite a bit in a short time. Thank you for sharing your talent and your phenomenal teaching skills!

Shelle_Belle

Hello Cynthia, so grateful to have found U and this community. I have just bought my first ukulele and love following and playing along to your beginners tutorials. As for the live jams...they are so much fun esp since there are peeps from all over the world watching and playing along at the same time. The whole experience definitely makes the world a better place for me. Happy thoughts and good vibrations, always. Shelly xxx

Kim Van Wissen

Hi Cynthia, warm greetings from Switzerland! :-) I just started playing 2 months ago, following your tutorials on youtube. Since then, my house is a complete mess and the kids are hungry, because mommy is rocking her uke 24/7. ;-D Thank you for inspiring me and helping me find such joy in making music! <3

Janine Keeling

Thank you for sharing you talents Cynthia. We are all meant shine on this earth... and you shine so very brightly in these troubled times. Thank you for being a generous friend to many inspiring musicians... may good things come your way and may you find your sources of inspiration ... just as you have provided for so many. Smiles, from Canada.

Pei-Shan Wu

I followed your beginner lessons during quarantine and has been practicing everyday since! It's now part of my family life (I sing and play Uke with my kids every evening after dinner) and I even use it for work too! Just started jamming with some friends who also follow your lessons! You're such a great teacher!!

Carol Olson

I began learning to play from you during the Covid shutdown. You saved my sanity and brought music into my life. I have no natural talent whatsoever, but I sure am having fun!

Smudge

This is beautiful! I hope you will post the tabs!!

Jenny Selig

You're in luck -- she's taught it! Find it via the Cynthia Lin Song Index!

Sharlene Adele

I am sorry for interupting, but I just bought a Cordoba Concert Ukulele and it will not stay in tune. This is frustrating. It came with nylon strings which is what this line has..do I always have to tune it each time I pick it up ? I"m frustrated about this ...

Jenny Selig

Hi, Sharlene. This is normal for new strings. It can occasionally mean there's a problem with the tuners, but usually it just means the strings need to stretch and settle. Play frequently and tune frequently, and eventually you should find (for me, usually after a week or two, depending on how much I play) it will hold its tuning longer and better. But also it's not wrong to tune each practice session -- even broken-in strings will slip a little.

bad monk

Hello There. I hope my short note finds you well. Thank you for work that you do. I'm sure it helps and inspires people enjoy the process of playing music. Beyond that, your work helps others in ways that may be unimaginable at times. As an example in my small world, if I feel a little ornery and pick up my uku (maybe grudgingly) then I feel better no matter how poorly or well I happen to play at that time. That probably makes people around me feel better too. I think that's how it usually works. Thanks again.

Cari Yardley

Hello! I am a new member and new to playing any musical instruments. I have been playing the uke for a month now and can't put it down. Cynthia, your online tutorials are excellent. So good, in fact, that I just had a consult with a potential ukulele instructor and they told me that I was too advanced for them to teach me, that it is time to move on to the next level. I can't wait to learn more!

Cynthia kennah

So happy to discover how much fun and joy playing the uke has brought me during these troubled times. When I get up I look forward to seeing your u-tube video lessons and practicing. It's so nice to hear you playing current songs and familiar classics. Can't wait to get better at it. Thank you!

David Steadman

I have been wathcng for a few weeks and took a look at other lessons from some others. I found your to be the best. So her e I am. Looking forward to learning some more from you. Thanks

Ada Bording

I am excited to explore the world or ukulele . . . I am thinking I have found the right place to start!!

Janet K-H

Thank you for all that you do Cynthia! I've enjoyed your youtube videos during these last months. Look forward to learning more ukulele with you. There has to be some good that comes out of this terrible time!

Paula Stern

I really enjoy your tutorials and online events. I find myself moving forward very quickly because your method of instruction is patient, easy to follow and fun. Great song selection, too. We have 4 ukelele players in the family already and I'm looking forward to a group jam sometime in the near future.

Robert Bluteau

Cynthia with all the sadness with the pandemic this year you have made it all feel just a little bit better. Thank you so much for helping me find the joy I get learning to play my ukulele. Bob from Florida near Disney World.

Hi Cynthia - got a concert uke for Christmas and really enjoying learning how to play and also something I always wanted to do is understand those dots and dashes on a music sheet. I am another retired old guy with plenty of time. So looking forward to following your site. I am in Brisbane Australia

Patty Weeks

I also am mostly stuck at home until this virus passes. I bought a uke online and it is a great way to have fun and relax. I'm so glad to have something constructive to pass the time especially this winter. I enjoy your youtube lessons, it is fun to strum along with the video. Thanks so much!

paulette staats

I have been playing my uke for almost a year and I am so glad I have found Cynthia Lyn and her posts. She has enriched my "uke" life so much even before I became a patron!

E S K

I can't believe I'm actually learning! Your lessons are very clear, so I'm able to follow your instructions and tips. Your song choices are my favourites, so I'm enticed to learn to play them. And your singing is a delight to hear, over and over. Thank you!

Jennifer Hinson

Your patience & enthusiasm have made me learn more on my ukulele in the last 2 weeks than I have in the last 4 years. Thank you : )

John Jackson

Hi everyone my name is John and I am 74 years old and the Uke is the first instrument have learnt to play. I got it for Christmas this year and happened to come across Cynthia's site and can not believe how well I have progressed in a very short time. If the vocals of my version of three little birds was better I be out busking. Only joking but I am pleased and its all down to Cynthia tuition style, take it slow and plenty of practice. great to be with you all. Cheers John

Sara Smothers

Have you looked at a play along/tutorial for The Water is Wide? I think it is a perfect fit for you. If you are not familiar, there are nice renditions by Diana Krall and James Taylor on Youtube.

Pauline Reyes

Thank you, Cynthia. I love your ukulele playing and tutorials and hope to learn more songs from you. ❤

Fawn Spady

I was teaching myself Ukulele with apps and having very modest success. Then I discovered you. I love my morning lessons with you. They are like a meditation. If only I was a better singer. But I love playing while you sing!

Julia Bootle

I bought my sweet little Uke a month ago and absolutely love learning with you Cynthia, and practice every evening.....what joy! I was so enthusiastic about my new venture to my cousin that she has just bought a Ukulele too! Time passes so quickly when I try to sing and play along with you. Thank you

Gloria May Riley-Schaaf

Aloha Patreons! Looking forward to learning from everyone! I love music so it is my desire to dive into finger playing the ukulele. Being retired, I think I can devote more time to learning the Ukulele the right way.

Kristen Nelms

Thank you Soo much for you lessons, tutorials, & songbook! You made learning to play easy

Barbara Marsh

You are an excellent teacher. I guess I am a visual learner and you show things just the right way for me to "get it". Thank you so much. Having so much joy with my baritone uke, tuned to GCEA. during this pandemic

Gabriele O'Neill

Thank you for sharing your talent so freely and effectively, Cynthia! - I'm finally retired and have time to practice the Ukulele that my husband gifted me with a few years ago. I've been browsing Ukulele instruction videos on youtube, and while there are many good tutorials out there, yours stood out to me in terms of clarity and your lighthearted yet very effective approach to teaching. Looking forward to having more fun with learning from you!

Sherry Shannon

I've been doing your tutorials for a few months now and I love them so much! I've improved quite a bit since I've started. Playing my favorite songs over and over again. I'm now practicing chucking. I'm happy to support you as a Patreon Cynthia - I appreciate all the work you do for us beginners from the song arrangements to your wonderful tutorials. I love your singing voice and how you always wear a flower in your hair!

Alison Barbour

Have been enjoying your tutorials so much that I decided to become a ‘patriot’.

Trish Nicholls

I first discovered your youtube tutorials last year but was unable to continue. I now want to be able to revisit the little bit I learned and commit to practising more!

Judy Barnett

My husband bought me a ukulele (which I love) in November while I was in lockdown, looking at a few different teachers on Youtube you was the one I kept going back to and using the most. You make learning fun and clear so I decided to become a patreon. Thank you.

Caroline

Dear Cynthia, I received a ukulele from my youngest son and husband on my birthday and started slow until I discovered your videos and site! Thank you for these magic moments and the encouragements! A new path in my life!

phoebe lopes

As a kid use to play ukulele all the time. When my ukulele broke never touch it again for years. Now I want to get back playing so I brought myself a ukulele, for me its like learning how to walk again. I'm all fingers! I'm much older but I know its never too late right to learn !

Yonatan Nitzan

Hey Cynthia.. finally i become a Patron. Looking forward to improve and becoming more advanced on the uke:)

Chris Vielhaber

Aloha from Germany. I am so glad to have found you on YouTube just by accident. You were sympathic and inspiring for me from the first second in.

Chris Vielhaber

Ooops, klicked too early🤣. So, I never played any instrument, just sang in a school band at least 100 years ago🤔. But I found my love for the sound of Ukulele. So here I am to support and to learn for myself a lot. Thanks for getting such a great opportunity.

Mona Gorny

I've had already a lot of fun with your YouTube tutorials. Finally I decided to join on Patreon. I really like the way how you share your knowledge and talents.

Claudia Warren

Hi Cynthia and Fellow Uke Players! I learned how to play "I'm Yours" from Ukulenny in 2012 when I bought a soprano uke. Lenny was so kind and patient and slow in his teaching of the chords, perfect for my learning style! I started a ukulele club at the middle school where I worked and taught those kids the only song I really knew, "I'm Yours". After that, those smart students showed me songs like "Riptide". Later, I was so happy to find your tutorials, Cynthia. Your instruction is so clear and encouraging! Now, I love playing my uke, thanks to Cynthia Lin and Ukulenny. Thanks so much!!!

Annie Shamim

Hi Cynthia and my 5000+ fellow CL ukies! Cynthia, I've been following you around for free on YouTube and finally thought it was time to pay up :) Actually, I've followed around a bunch of others as well, but found your tutorials the most efficacious. So, thank you for your patience and dedication. Looking forward to learning a lot more.

Katherine Piedra

Hi Cynthia! I had been thinking about wanting to learn to play the ukelele and went out and bought one in January. I did it for myself, but it’s become a joy for my mom, too. My mom is 86 yrs old and has dementia. I’ve been caring for her alone for a few years. So when I said I thought I was doing it for myself, I thought it would add some fun and stress relief. I hadn’t counted on the therapy it’s provided my mom, too! We watch you and Bernadette as my lessons. My mom sings along. It’s really cute and motivates me, especially during this cold New England winter. Thank you!!!

Mary Jamin

Hi Cynthia! Thank you for best tutorials I've found around learning the ukulele. I too decided to purchase and learn to play the ukulele. This year has been so emotionally crippling for so many of us that I needed to find some peace and joy. I remember as a small girl how my older brother would play his ukulele and I would sing along with him. Now I'm playing for my daughter and her girls. Such a simple instrument has brought so much pleasure to me and has given my soul so much joy. I'm hooked and look forward to learning so much more.

Anna Booy

Dear Cynthia, the ukulele is becoming a solace for me in what has been a difficult past year. Your teaching skills (by far the best on the internet - and I've tried a few!), your generosity and your encouraging spirit have brought me to this, my first ever Patreon subscription. I share your hope that your gentle but vibrant community of uke players will in it's own sweet way bring a good kind of change to the world. Thank you for all that you do.

John

Hi Cynthia, years ago I played the saxophone. I hadn't played an instrument for 40 years. In December 2020, I bought a ukulele and have been looking for direction. I like your videos and your teaching style. So I decided to join you on Patreon. Looking forward to becoming better. Thanks for your efforts.

Kathy Voth

I became a patron today because I'm learning Banana Pancakes with you on Youtube and I like how you teach. I feel like you see me, and you're so supportive. So think you!

Byrl Grant

Hi Cynthia have been learning from you on youtube. Love the way you teach.

Lissette Ramirez

Pandansari Anom

Hello Cynthiaaaaa... I am very happy to connect with you now :))) It's very wonderful for what you did. Thank youuuu :)

Nalu Perez

Aloha Mai Ka Kou Cynthia, growing up in Hawaii is a blessing especially when you have many talented family and friends that can sing, dance and play all kinds of musical instruments from backyard kanikapila to Waikiki Ukulele Festivals! I've played guitar and ukulele just by playing along with family and friends and learning a little from here and there but then I joined the Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era in the 60's and spent most of my life in the military and spent less time playing guitar/ukulele. Now that I'm retired from the Marine Corps but still working at the age of 74, I still have the passion to play the guitar and ukulele, and especially when I bought ukuleles for my grandsons, who can really jam! So the itch to really pick up the ukulele and learn more chords and new songs has brought me here! Like I said, I listened to a lot of ukulele tutorials and then came across your tutorial in the "Lions Sleep Tonight", your teaching style got me hooked to want to be a part of your Patreon Community, because of your love for the ukulele and your passion of spreading so much Aloha throughout the world, makes me want to be a part of that, especially when I start jamming with my grandsons and they telling me wow "pops" whea you when learn that from?! Mahalo nui loa Cynthia for sharing the Aloha of the ukulele to the world. (^_^) What a blessing!

Shawn Shahin

I am so excited to join the Patreon Community. I am a newbie pandemic player, started in June 2020, and watched a few different teachers on Youtube until I found you Cynthia. Love that you are a local girl in SF, (now Hawaii, I know, but still), as I am born and raised in the South Bay and live in Mountain View. So it feels so awesome that you were so influential and productive in the SF music scene. I finally feel confident enough after learning on my own this year to watch a livestream and play along, so that's what encouraged me to join as a beginner, so I can try to join the monthly jams. Also, I just love your positive spirit, and your motto of practicing just 5 minutes a day, because its good for your brain, soul, heart etc. Finally, wanted to let you know that I love your albums, and U3, and your music is our go to soundtrack at our backyard tiki bar. :-). Super excited to start the Patreon potion of this journey! -Shawn.

Kym St Claire

I joined Cynthia Lin’s Patreon page because her uke tutorials are my go-to on You Tube and I wanted to support and appreciate her efforts. The ukulele community is so friendly and it makes me happy to be part of it.

Abi Boyd

Aloha from Glasgow, Scotland. I took up ukulele during lockdown in June 2020 as a way of keeping my fingers mobile to ease arthritis. I discovered Cynthia on YouTube after a few days, and knew I had found the right teacher for me.

Bupha Hochstrasser

Howdy Cynthia? I’ve been practice 5 to 10 mins a day as you said. Yeah, it’s sound like song now a bit.

Bupha Hochstrasser

Thank you so much for what you do. Love the way you teach. You are the best. Cheers!!!!!

Genevieve Smith

I am new to your group and like the way you teach I am looking forward to improving with my Ukuele and singing 😃

Susan Sullivan

Hello from San Francisco, Cynthia ! I look forward to meeting new songs and skills. Big hugs to you !

Linda O'Sullivan

Thank you Cynthia! For inspiring a 68 year old beginner, who feels, thanks to you, that "I can do this!!" I had been following your lessons on YouTube and taking advantage of the free dowloads of song sheets, but didn't feel it was right without compensating you at least a little for your immense efforts, and obvious caring!! You are a delight and a wonderful teacher. The thought that I will be able to play a beginner version of Stairway to Heaven in not too long just blows me away! And am looking forward to Part 3 of course LOL. Many thanks and I look forward to a long relationship! Hugs, Linda

Graeme

Hi Cynthia

Hi Cynthia, I just joined Patreon specifically to support you! After spending a few months horning my new pandemic skill, playing the ukulele 😁, I have learned a number of great songs from you and your YouTube channel. I figure the best way to show you thanks is to show you patreon support and spread some ukulele cheer.

Kit Bergman

After doing the 100 Days of Ukulele, I’m so excited to join this community! Thanks Cynthia!

Don Windmiller

Hello Cynthia, I am 67 years old, and I want to express myself musically. I found the ukulele, and then I found you on youtube. You have already made me feel that I can do this, and play the ukulele. I have a wife that has serious health problems, and playing the uke gives me peace that I can't find anywhere else. I joined to learn to play, and to support your work, which I feel helps many people. You give me the feeling that you are a very special and loving person, who is making the world a better place!

Ahil Ganesan

Hey Cynthia, watched your tutes on youtube at the start of last years lockdown in Sydney Aus. Glad to finally be a patron and continue growing with everyone on the uke journey. Cheers

Rick

Cynthia, I've been the quiet one in the background, but, I have been soaking up your Ukulele skills while truly enjoy that lovely voice of yours. This is so exciting. What a wonderful gift you have to offer the world. You keep leading the way in Creation of New Earth.

Judy St John-Tucker

Hi there. I bought my first Ukukele about 3 weeks ago. I have played guitar in the past which had helped in some ways and hurt in others. I ran across a video of yours due Stairway to heaven and really like your teaching style and presentation.... so I joined this site. I'm looking forward to learning more!

Yiky Chew

Hello! I look forward to learn from you. I love your bite size videos on Youtube and your lovely voice.

Richard Snow

Hi Cynthia, I just joined up. I see your two bottom levels are (in Australian money ) $1.50 and $7, which I assume are conversions conversions of US$1 and US $5. maybe you should consider a level between US$1 and US$5. I found the setting to change the donation mount, but it's hard to find. Perhaps you could add a level at US$3? Best wishes.

Jim Sullivan

I have been paying along with the videos and live jams for a year now. They are great. Now I am joining as a patron. I hope my financilal support helps keepy our music going. Aloha and Mahalo!

Madeline Arnott

I found you when I started my uke journey last summer and I just love your videos! You’ve made the learning process approachable and fun. I’m so happy to be part of your community!

Kaylene L Peets

I have taught piano for 26 years and have now discovered, or re-discovered the joy of learning a new instrument and new music. It’s such a happy instrument. I now have 3 students in a group, and we’re having so much fun together! I love the vision of forming a community that brings joy to the world. Thank you, Cynthia!

Jeff Steitzer

I had been a Patreon contributor a while back but my finances got tight and I had to leave. But things are better and I am back. I just watched your performance of the Crowded House song, "Don't Dream It's Over," and want to learn how to play it.

August Chaco

Proud to vibe with the finest global ukulele community! Cynthia, your Aloha is irresistible.

Mike O'Daniel

Just bought an ukulele and looking forward to learning.

Glad to be here! I've seen a few of your videos on YouTube, and they've been very helpful as I navigating beginner uke! So, I figured I'd come on over and dive in. Appreciate you and what you are doing.

Celia Cronin

Cherie N

Hi! My husband bought me a beginner's ukulele during our recent trip to Hawaii. I know nothing about music or playing an instrument. I am hoping that it is not to late for me to learn get to learn to play at 50 😉

jose machado

Hi, glad to be here. Kind regards from Spain. and thanks for the job you are doing.

Pat Olson

Glad to be here. Someone gave me a ukulele 4 years ago. I pretty much learned by watching CL videos. I play every day. About time I joined up.

Andrea Knorr

I and two friends wanted to learn Stairway to Heaven, and I found your site! You're awesome.

Sue McVie

I just signed up 5 min ago, so no history here, but for some reason out of all the teachings on youTube, your style calmed me anxiety about "not getting it"! That loosened up my left hand, changing chords faster, and my brain is now remembering more chords! I wanted the lessons to last longer and decided to check this out! Oh! And the 100 days! I watched every minute. So much fun yet what a challenge! I would like to challenge myself in the same way and turn something a bit intimidating into supported joy. (Hoping someone can tell me when that begins again and what level subscriber i would need to be. TY for pricing that includes everyone!

I just signed up today! I am English but living in a very rural and quiet part of Portugal. I loved learning and playing music at school (on the flute) and later joined different community choirs. My dream was always to learn an instrument that I could play and sing along to and somehow the ukelele kept calling. Finally I answered the call about 8 months ago and have been learning at home alone using YouTube tutorials. I quickly discovered Cynthia's videos and really she is the best ukelele teacher I've found. Thank you Cynthia. Your teaching style is easy to follow and a lot of fun. I enjoyed it so much some days, some days I would pick up my uke after breakfast and next thing I knew it was lunch time and I was still in my PJ's. Who knew I could have so much fun at home alone during a pandemic with all the restrictions?! It's really been a life saver. I figured it was time to show my gratitude for all your free stuff on YouTube by joining Patreon. If I was in the right time zone I would go for a higher level group, but your lessons happen at 1.30am my time....I need my beauty sleep and to stay friends with my neighbours! Keep doing what you are doing Cynthia. You are a musical light in this world and it's infectious. Now that's the kind of pandemic we need!!

Kyle Raftery

Thanks Cynthia, absolutely love your lessons. I just downloaded the songbook and wanted to support. Excited to be here.

I just joined after taking all your free beginner classes! I purchased your Ohana signature ukulele and I LOVE it!!! It sounds so sweet. I'm just a huge fan of yours, Cynthia. You're so positive and I really love how you teach. xoxoxo

Hi Cynthia, I've been a fan for a long time - met you at the Palm Strings event several years ago and you exude Aloha! Your arrangements are the most interesting, yet accessible, of any 'ukulele arrangements anywhere. Mahalo!!!

Meg Van Rosendaal

My friend Linda and I started learning the uke on Facetime together during COVID, as a way of staying connected. As we've looked for songs, we've stumbled across you on YouTube several times. We both enjoy your teaching style and choice of songs, so it's time to support you in what you do so well - by joining your Patreon community!

Signed up for the Vocal Workshop as soon as I saw it! I've been a fan of Cynthia Lin for the last year. The Easy Breezy uke jam with Ukelenny had many great and easy songs and these two clearly had a lot of fun with it!

Thank you thank you… Hawaii is so special to me, when I got my first uke, it changed my life— I played the violin and was teaching myself guitar but— the uke let me just dive into singing and playing! ESP with Cynthia’s supportive and fun method… people always asks if I been playing for awhile and it only has been 6 months— I find it amazing with a little patience and practice one can play so many songs, and the music arrangements are the best I seen. And now~ vocal lessons… Cynthia is an incredible gifted teacher and artist! (Also organized and efficient!) So excited~ I hope to spend more time with the community!

Just couldn't wait for the 1st of January to come around to become your patron. Your You-Tube tutorials are both daily joys & blessings to me, a newbie Ukulele player. Thank you for all you do and I look forward to learning so much more & being a part of your community. What A Happy New Year 2022 for us all!

Kathryn Biddle Dutton

I've stumbled upon you during the lockdown in 2021. I live in Japan but lived in SF and Hawaii. I bought a uke many years ago but never brought myself to the point where I could actually play any songs. Your YouTube made it so easy to enjoy it. I stopped playing for months since then but am now wanting to really get better at it. Thank you, Cynthia!

My father passed away in August and I inherited his ukulele - I'm completely new to string instruments but I promised him I would learn. After trying several other Uke programs, I found your YouTube tutorials and you are an amazing teacher. And so cheerful - so what we need when we are all grieving so much during these pandemic times. Thank you so much!

Angie Rodgers

Hi Cynthia. I have started at the bottom tier to get a feel for this. Didn't take long so I am upgrading.

Malia Yang

Mahalo Cynthia! I am thoroughly enjoying your lessons and your music!

I played your Christmas songs for my family with my wife and we were a hit. Thank you so much for helping make our holiday special

I have seen you with Bernadette and looked up your posts from time to time. I am currently in my 28th year as an Elementary Music Specialist in Oklahoma. Have enjoyed creating Instrument units the last 20 yrs with World Percussion, Woodwind unit with 4, 6, and12-Hole Ocarina/Soprano Recorder, and Strings with Ukulele/Guitar. Love your easy arrangement of "Old Town Road" which is one of my students favorites! Will be teaching Ukulele & Guitar after Spring Break this year. Always looking for new teaching ideas. Purchased Rainbow Ukulele pdf Teaching unit this year. Have been using Mike Jackson's Uke n Play Books for several years. Like how he introduces the chords then combines. Have also added YouTube Uke play along videos. After I show students how to make a chord I use Bernadette's YouTube video...definitely the first challenge for beginners! I think it was her that said "Lego Hand". Definitely want to include your "Old Town Road" arrangement this year for 4th-6th Grade. Also like to share good Ukulele teachers like yourself & Bernadette as some purchase their own Ukulele! It is in Sixth Grade that I introduce Guitar. Very hard to find material they can do without having their own Guitar to practice. Thank you again for all you do! Looking forward to watching more of your videos! Aloha, Ms. Goodhead, Music Teacher, Oklahoma

Your kind and gentle teaching style is encouraging! Happy to be a PAtreon.

I am 79 years old. Because of physical challenges and covid I can no longer go out much or teach keyboard based music to young students. My husband bought this uke for me for Christmas because we discovered your wonderful uplifting teaching program. Your teaching style is so encouraging and effective. You make me feel so welcome and your musical friends and presentation make music so much fun! You give me the joy of playing and singing and a sense of community I otherwise could not have. I love your kind pleasant style and the sound of your voice is so pretty; you make me want to sing too! With so much obvious talent , and performance opportunity, it is a wonder that you take this time to encourage us all in your success.

Jack Rudnicki

I am from Montreal, Canada, have been playing Ukulele for almost 3 years. Cynthia Lin is my favourite resource. Time to support her!

Hello Cynthia, I just discovered you on YouTube a few days ago. I started ukulele 2 months ago. I am so happy to follow your courses for beginners, it helps me a lot. Thank you so much, I love this. Greetings from Brussels, Belgium.

Erin Pohl

I danced in the 1960's and 70's - and as a young woman left dancing. I was one of just a few haole's dancing so actually it was a long journey back. I found a loving and kind halau right in my hometown a few years ago and have returned to dancing and the Hawaiian culture in a Kupuna class - never thought I'd be an "elder" :-) I have played a little guitar for most of my life and during the pandemic, decided to pick up a lovely Cordoba uke. I thought I would have time to learn then, but my job became "essential" and it was a very busy 2 years. Now that life has settled back down a bit, I've been enjoying playing a little uke - and decided that it was a good opportunity to spend some more time with the instrument. Thank you! Mahalo - I look forward to the process....

Piero

Thanks Cyn; just because of your voice would be worth supporting you...

Linda Duffin

Cannot thank you enough for a sharing your talent and inspiration! I was forced out of Patreon for a few years (my credit card expired and they refused to update it). Your music kept me busily happy through the pandemic and I can’t thank you enough!

Cherie Pendarvis

Dear Cynthia, Your music is beautiful, thank you so much!

kasteeltje

Hi Cynthia, I am from Belgium. I follow you on you tube and think you're versions of the songs are the best. Hopefully I will understand how patreon works :-)

Mak Clarke

Aloha... Like many I've been dropping by on Cynthia's videos for quite some time and after watching/listening and enjoying the new song 'One Day' I've decided I need to join up, enjoy and learn more... I'm more of a song-writer than a musician but I'm lovin the uke vibe and maybe today is the start of something new...ha and maybe that will be the title of my first Uke song! 'Something New'.

Debra Lea Ryan

Dear Cynthia, Thank You from Australia. I really appreciate the gentle way you share/teach. Healing Journey! Kindest thoughts, Debra

Andy Paul

I lived in Hawaii for six wonderful years as a US Navy assignment. The island spirit is with me always. I found you because I wanted to play Lava for my granddaughter.

Sam Miller

Oh my, Cynthia, you are absolutely fabulous! I love how real you are and how much of a teacher's heart you really have! Thank you for bringing so much joy to this newbie-ukie player!

Randy Jones

Thank you Cynthia for all the things you do. There are several songs you do, Banana Pancakes for one, where I don't like the song by the original artist, but love your version. One of these days I'll finally get that one down but it's fun just trying to play along!

Linda Mahnken

I am so delighted and inspired by your versions of Hotel California, Something, and Moon River. Love the strum patterns and the picking and the chord progressions. Wonderful!

AMIR MB

Hello Cynthia, Hello all uke players, I'm new here. Excited to join this community. Greetings from Israel, Best wishes :) Amir

Hi Patrons, hi Cynthia, I bought my girlfriend a ukelele for her birthday (it’s purple as rain 😊) and she’s really into your videos 🤗🤩 so thank YOU! 🌞

Sarina Salim

Hi Cynthia, been following you on YouTube for years. In fact you were one of my first YouTube teachers. Thank you for your body of work. I just had to finally be a Patreon after I heard your beautiful arrangement of ‘Both Sides Now’

Linda Stougaard Nielsen

Dear Cynthia, I have been playing ukulele for a year now and have until now not found any online instructions or teachers that I really liked until I stumbled over you. You play music that I like in a way that I like and you can also sing (which is something that really destroys it for me with a lot of other instructors out there). So thank you! I will keep following you and be curious to see and hear what you come up with. Unfortunately I cannot participate in any live sessions as I live in Europe, but the recordings are great!

Linda Austin

Happy 2023 New Year to you Cynthia and everyone here. For this holiday, my family asked what I would like. Besides world peace, end to hunger, and a healthy planet, I replied all I really want/need for Christmas is Cynthia Lin's Beginner subscription on Patreon. My sweet fam came thru! Yay! Looking forward to learning from and with you. After two months of watching YouTubes of you and others, and plunking with another Patreon teacher, I plan to make a break thru with my learning this year....and do that with YOU. Some day soon, I'll play pretty too! --Linda from Los Angeles

Linda Austin

Love LOVE your rendition and singing of YOU GOT A FRIEND. When Carole King gifted this song to the world back in the late 70s, I played the grooves off that song (and her Tapestry album). Thank you for this, Cynthia!

Patricia Johnson

Happy 2023! I've been playing the ukulele for a year, watching your videos and have finally joined. Love your teaching style. Cheers

Dan Gagnon

I am so happy to join your group, Cynthia. I love your style of teaching and your awesome smile

I was teaching myself ukulele from books, making fun but slow progress. Then I stumbled upon you in YouTube--life changing! Having a blast now and am progressing so much faster with your tutorials and play-alongs! Can't wait to see what's next. Thank you!
