Aloha, all!

Today, I'm honored to be part of a global celebration for the legendary Hawaiian musician Israel Kamakawiwoʻole on his 61st birthday.  His music means so much to the ukulele community, to Hawaii, and to the world.

You can watch my tribute video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/AhNqAXMqYD0

Happy birthday, Braddah IZ!  Thank you for touching our souls with your soothing and powerful voice, and for connecting us to the beauty of the Hawaiian culture through your music.

Thank you for sharing the ukulele as an instrument of peace, and for bringing millions of people together from all parts of the world to form a global ukulele community that embraces and upholds the aloha spirit.

For so many uke players, learning to play Iz's version of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” is the start of a lifelong ukulele journey.  It’s a song that brings peace and joy every time you strum it.

Happy Birthday! Hauʻoli lā hānau! Mahalo for sharing your gift. Your music continues to inspire us and remind us to live aloha and “mālama ʻāina,” to care for each other, to care for the land, and to keep the Hawaiian spirit alive.

Anyone ever notice that about 80% of the time the only ukulele song that people know is "Somewhere over the Rainbow?" Thanks Cynthia! What a wonderful tribute to Iz. You emanate Aloha!

I posted this on my Facebook feed. I ♥️ IZ. And I was introduced to his music in Maui. That was the perfect place to fall in love with his music. Happy birthday IZ ♥️
