Share Your Aloha - Community Check-in

With the world in constant turmoil, I often need to remind myself that sharing aloha to the people I can reach is the most effective way to create positive change.  Change begins wherever you are, starting with yourself.  While we have several different online spaces for Patrons to share, like our Patron facebook group, I'd like to try to use this space, this monthly newsletter post, as a way for Patrons to connect with each other.  (Our pre-lesson Zoom socials have been a great way to connect as well!)

If you like, please check in in the comments below - could be just a quick hello, an update from your ukulele or creative life, some words of encouragement, or questions or thoughts on how to create positive change.  If you host a jam or event and would like to invite Patrons, you can share that too.  Feel free to post in the comments, and take a moment to read and respond to other folks' comments.  The divisiveness we perceive in the world can be overcome by making real connections.💛

Want to share a picture of a new ukulele? :) Post over on our Community page!  https://www.patreon.com/cynthialin/community

Hi I just join . Hallo from Sydney

Keiko Best

Hi, Cynthia, I got my ukulele several years ago when I was living in Hawaii but didn’t really started practicing till last year. I’m in the middle of my first 100 Days of Ukulele now. I’m still a beginner but now I proudly tell my friends I “kind of” play the ukulele. Mahalo for all the great lessons you’ve given to us on the Internet 🌈

Ken (UKEn) Freestone

I get such a nice twinge of Aloha when your newsletter arrives. Thanks for all of the encouragement, fun lessons and the overwhelming Aloha you spread across the globe!!

kevl42

Hello! My uke update is that I just re-strung my tenor to low-G and am adjusting to the new sound. I also re-strung my wife's concert last night, so lots of string stretching and settling in the house.

Maggie

Me too!!! I love it. I changed my strings because I was learning my fretboard and some scales and realized how the low G would help!

Maggie

I started with Cynthia Lin in 2015. I consider her my gateway drug into the ukulele…. CL helped unlock the ukulele for me in ways other online teachers could not. Aloha to her and this community forever! ❤️ I’m in and out of goals with my ukulele all the time! There are so many ways to love and enjoy this ukulele. So many roads of enjoyment. I’m currently taking solo time with my ukulele to learn how to read more music and learn my fretboard and some scales. I miss the community so much, BUT I’ve learned a lot going underground and focusing on music the past 6 months! But I’ll never leave This community! Thanks for making this space! I’ll be back around, soon! 😉

kevl42

Same! And if I really need a high-G, I have a soprano Waterman (glow-in-the-dark!) and my wife's concert. I'm finding that I really, really like the low-G for some of the fingerpicking I've been doing, especially classical music.

Yvonne Montgomery

I found out about Cynthia Lin right at the beginning of stay home pandemic days (March 2020). I have a musical background but I was just starting to learn the ukulele so I was excited. I became a Patreon and started using the beginner songbook. I didn't really use or participate in all the other great stuff until this year. Now I am having so much fun participating in the 100 days of ukulele and also just going back to all the great live lessons and live jams. I making progress and I'm enjoying the journey! Thank you so much Cynthia - this is making a difference in my life and my overall health and well being!

kris ronningen-fenrich

Any chance that you and Lenny will expand the SF event to a mini 1 or 2 day uke festival?

Cynthia Lin

thanks for checking in, Maggie! i'm happy to provide a gateway, and to see how much you've accomplished on your own! your spirit is always here with us :)

Cynthia Lin

hi kris! we haven't really considered it, since the situation for holding events keeps changing. i appreciate you asking, and will certainly keep the Patrons posted if anything arises. it would be nice!

kevl42

Indeed! The teenager is rebelling by learning guitar. Whatya gonna do?

Terry Brandsma

Just this year I re-strung one of my tenors to Low-G. It did take a while to get used to it, but I'm loving it for a good number of my favorite songs, and especially for fingerpicking!

Holly W

I am wondering what song we are learning this month.
