Aloha Patrons!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a tutorial, and I know some of you are anxiously awaiting the next one.  Here’s an update!

  1. VOTING RESULTS: In the last vote (see results here), Imagine and Blackbird pretty much tied for first - so I am making tutorials for both songs.  
  2. CHORD CHARTS ATTACHED: The tutorials are not ready yet (more explanation below).  To tide you over, I’m giving the Patrons early access to the chord charts.  Look for the blue links above for the Imagine chord chart(2 page pdf) and Blackbird chord chart (5 page pdf!)
  3. TUTORIAL PREPARATION: I think you all can appreciate the time and energy it takes to make each tutorial.  Along with spending several hours crafting the chord chart and figuring out how to teach each song, I need to actually walk through teaching the song to people in real life before I can make an online tutorial.   Teaching the song helps me understand what you as a online learner will need when you’re learning the song on your own.  For Blackbird, I spent 6 weeks teaching it to my Intermediate students, and I’m still discovering better and clearer ways to teach this song.  I taught Imagine last week to my Advanced Beginner class, and it helped me figure out how to simplify the teaching as to be accessible to Beginners without losing the essence of the song.  So while the tutorials are not ready yet, please know that I have been working on them steadily.   And they are coming soon. :)

Thanks! You are fabulous! Your tutorials stand apart from online tutorials. You clearly don't just make a chord sheet and post a video and call it a "tutorial." I feel like I get an actual lesson from you. There are others that do this well also, but the costs are hard to commit to. Your costs have made the ukulele and music making accessible to me very quickly! And you inspired me to start my own uke jam! ( In my Uke jam I reference you so much that my uke buddies call you my BFF.) THANK you. Thank you for sharing your talents and taking your time. :)

I have always struggled to play Blackbird on guitar, but I love the song, so I continued to plug away, although I never polished it. Now with the uke, I will do the same thing!! Your explanations are very clear, and I listened to you play it a few times on youtube, so I'm getting there. I still look forward to watching (and learning more) from the tutorial! Thank you!
