Aloha, friends!

Today (March 3, 2023) we reach Day 10 of this year’s 100 Days of Ukulele Songs project, which started on February 22nd.  If you’re participating in this year's project, I invite you to join us today for our First Friday Mixer on Zoom!

In this live event, you can meet other project participants, chat together in small breakout rooms, and share with each other about your projects.  We'll give prompts for starting the conversation, and we'll switch rooms a few times so we can meet different folks.  Because this is a long project, it helps to trade stories with folks who know what you're going through. :)  Let's discuss how the first ten days have gone, and how we'll approach the next 90!

First Friday Mixer (Live on Zoom)

Friday March 3rd, 12 noon Hawaii Time | 2pm PT | 5pm ET | 10pm GMT (Sat am for Asia/Australia) check time converter

Zoom link: event has passed, hope to see you for the next one!

Please comment if you're planning to join, and mention the time for your time zone to help out other folks.

You all know that I like trying out new ways for us to meet online and grow together.  Since this is a live interactive event, we won't be able to record it.  If you cannot attend today but would be interested in another Zoom mixer, feel free to let us know in the comments.  Also, I could use suggestions for names for this mixer.  Next year, I'd like to have one before the project starts! And if you're still thinking about joining the project, it's not too late to jump in. :)

Day 10 Check-in

Congratulations to all those who’ve been a part of the project, however you've been participating. There are no “rules” to this challenge, and it’s been great to see how players have adapted it to their own interests and skill levels. This year we have active participants on Facebook, Instagram, and for the first time we also have Patrons sharing their projects here on Patreon, via the Community Tab.

If you're willing to share, I'd love to hear how you are doing at Day 10, one tenth of the way through this year's project.  What questions do you have?  What have you learned so far?  What do you need to do to make the project sustainable?  What has been your favorite day so far?  What do you want to ask other participants?

Those who can't attend the live event can still share via the comments here, and hopefully connect and learn from each other this way.  Your feedback will help shape the project and project events going forward.

A special thanks to our admins, mods, cheerleaders, tech team, and everyone who is supporting the project!  See you on the journey!

xo cynthia.

I’ll be joining in from Sydney, Saturday 9am for me :-) I’m not putting too much pressure on myself this time around, and playing when I can and what I’m feeling that day. I find if I try to ‘schedule’ too much it’s not natural for me and it becomes a chore. I just want to enjoy the practice and create and feel what I like depending on what’s happening that day or week. Looking forward to the zoom! 🎶

I will try to attend. I’m in Victoria, Australia it will be Saturday 9 am. I’ve been working on Ukulenny’s beginner chord melody exercises and pieces. I have managed to post something daily so far. My greatest joy is to strum and sing, so I have posted 3 songs. Trying to be happy to post imperfect or WIP pieces. People in the group are very helpful and encouraging and it’s nice to have met some in zoom rooms and even some Aussies in person.

I'm hoping to join the mixer! I live in Albuquerque, NM, USA - so it will be 3pm for me

Brett Krasnov

Hope to join in sometime after 5 PM Eastern Standard Time from Philadelphia PA. Most likely closer to 5:30 or so after I get home from work and decompress from the commute home.

Sheryl Flocchini

I am planning to join the mixer today from Davis, CA..2 pm PT. I am posting daily with beginner chord melody workouts, very first chords on my Baritone, a few music theory lessons I'm working with, and a few snippets of songs I'm working on as a beginner; just passed my 9 month anniversary of Uke Playing! Happy to be here and looking forward to meeting many friends today! Thank you Jenny, Cynthia and all the supporters and participants! 🎼❤️

Kit Bergman

I am planning to join at 2 pm from Pasadena, CA. This is my third year, but I still feel like a beginner sometimes! This year I am trying not to be too hard on myself and just fit my practice when I can. Thank you Jenny and Cynthia for organizing this.

Darn. Got to go to work at that time but have a great meet up! I’m having a blast participating in this challenge. Thanks for making it happen 😀

Greg Turner

I will do my best to join, these zoom socials are fantastic and a great idea.

Suzanne Wu

Sue Wu from Bellingham WA. I will join. I just started this AM. I think I will do double posts so I can catch up to y’all. 100 day challenge is the best thing that happened to me musically last year.

Leslie Lindeman

Has anyone seen the link yet? Shouldn’t it be here now?

Luisa

I am planning on joining Austin TX 4pm, sorry for the very late reply

JD

Sorry, my internet cut out just as we were going to breakout rooms. Hopefully get it sorted for next time. I’m really enjoying getting inspiration from all the different genres and finding new songs to try. It’s a great incentive to play every day, I feel like it’s definitely improving my playing.

Dorain Jacobs

I tried to be there, and I saw y'all for one split second. I am going to delete and re-download Zoom.

Cynthia Lin
