February 2024 Community Check-In & Calendar (Patreon)

Welcome to February! Please note that Beginner Jam is tonight (with a Zoom Social 30 minutes before class, if you're available to join)!  My schedule is filling up with travel and new projects (more about that soon!!), so our monthly Patreon events will generally stay on the schedule of Thursdays 2:30pm Hawaii Time but may fall on different weeks of the month.  Please check the Patron Google calendar for the latest schedule. (note that the calendar is set on Pacific Time, but you can click the bottom right corner to add to your own Google calendar and display events in your timezone).

🌺 Welcome to the CL Patreon Community, where we share our Creative Journeys

Creative Journey Check-in: How is your Creative Journey going?  What are you currently excited about? Is there a song or lesson that inspires you to pick up your uke? I am writing again, which feels great, and I treated myself to a new microphone, which makes me want to record.  I am also connecting with fellow artists in person more frequently, going to shows, working with actors, and after the pandemic, it feels like finally returning to "normal."  Would love to hear your current inspirations in the comments.

February 2024 Community Reminders:

💯 March 1, 2024 will be Day One of this year's 100 Days of Ukulele project.  I'll be sharing some videos this month to help you prepare for your 100 Days Project. Watch for those, and for our new Facebook Group (to be announced closer to the start date). While you are waiting, you can check out the 100 Days FAQ and get inspired by the 2023 Showcase video here!

Reminder about "Homework" videos:  It's been great to see your progress and practice videos!  All are invited to record and share, and I'll try to provide feedback when I can.  No pressure, just a little nudge to practice and share.  Upload your video to your own drive or to our Patron-only Facebook group and share the link in the comments of the latest lesson.

🎤 "Aquamarine" Voice Workshop continues: We've been working slowly and mindfully on learning the verse of "Aquamarine," and all are welcome to join us for another 4 weeks, where we'll complete the song.  You can upgrade and catch up on the 4 lessons from last month's January 2024 Voice Workshop ($30+ Patrons), and all Patrons can get access to the first lesson here.

📌📣📌📣📌📣 Community Bulletin Board via comments: Feel free to use the comments section in this monthly check-in as a Bulletin Board for all things uke or Patreon.  Events, announcements, invitations, questions, requests, suggestions.  We can also use the Chats in the Patreon App, and I'm open to using them for discussion in any way that benefits Patrons.

January 2024 Recap - News, Patron Events and new Videos:

• In our Beginner Live Jam ($10+ Patrons), we had a mindful ukulele jam, using songs from the Beginner Songbook, and discussed forming new habits.
• For the Live Lesson ($5+ Patrons), I taught my arrangement of "I Melt With You" by Modern English (now available to all Patrons $1+).
• For the Intermediate Live Jam ($20+ Patrons), we jammed together on songs that lent themselves to "tap technique" and bossa nova rhythms.
• Voice students ($30+ Patrons) met on four Tuesdays in January and began working on vocals for my original song "Aquamarine."
• I hosted a YouTube premiere of the 100 Days of Ukulele 2023 showcase video. Check out the replay here!

Be sure to answer both membership questions so that Community Managers can verify your Patron status.
