We are finally watching this one and it truly surprised us in all the right ways! From the sets to the music to the performances... we were extra focused on this one!

We only really knew of the 1931 classic movie but it was nice to see some changes from that material. Warning though I truly had no chance with Oscar Isaacs and Jacob Elordi being here giving body 😂

Frankenstein is Rated R and so is this reaction. Viewer Discretion is advised.

I’ve been hoping you guys would watch this one 🥰 I loved this adaptation and can’t wait to see what you think! 🫶

mia goth actually played elizabeth and victor’s mother. and the costume department won an award for this!

From what I can recall (from the novel) Victor made his "Creation" beautiful but the "beautiful parts" he picked out looked monstrous all stitched together. He had long flowing black hair, white eyes, black lips and yellow skin. He was beautiful, but also monstrous/terrifying. Of course this was also Victor's words. And Victor would've found his creation terrifying no matter how they came out. That man was not ready to be a dad/husband/brother/caregiver/teacher.

YESSSSSS, I'm so pumped for this , ever since I saw this movie I've been waiting for a reaction from yall, and seeing that announcement had me so excited. 🥹😆

This was my favorite film of 2025, hands down. The visuals are gorgeous, of course, but the PERFORMANCES. Bro. It's also a very faithful adaptation to the original novel, wherein the monster is described as being beautiful. Jacob Elordi just absolutely smokes this role. The scene of him feeding that deer 😭

Meredith Konicki

I also love that del Toro specifically shows animals, and typically skittish animals, as not being afraid of the creature. They inherently seem to trust he won't harm them.

so first things first, the intro to this movie makes me want you guys to watch The Terror, on Shudder/AMC, the first season is about those expeditions north to find the "Northwest Passage" like they are in the intro here I assume. SUCH a good historical horror concept. they get freaky and supernatural with it too. secondly I don't know if you guys are ones for books but since you are big Frankenstein fans I bet you would love the original novel. this intro/inclusion of the story-within-a-story is like, super unique for an adaptation to include. I've never seen the Universal 1931 version but I feel like starting with that is a good idea since from what I understand its one of the least faithful. I like that it's its own thing though. anyway yay thanks for your work guys hehe

Okay guys I'm going to type A LOT so I'm sorry lol. I've been waiting for your reaction and I dropped everything I was doing to watch this today! I absolutely love this movie and it's now in my top 3 of all time! It's so insanely beautiful, a masterpiece to me. Especially nowadays everyone wants to make the big action blockbuster and most movies just feel so superficial and lacking. I'm so happy this movie is so beautiful visually and story wise. I love how gagged you guys were throughout the whole things because same lol. There are so many iconic lines and scenes. one of my faves because I just get that petty giddiness is when he takes the dynamite and says "now...run" with that menacing smile, like YES TRAUMATIZE VICTOR BACK!! I love that there's compromise at the end for both Victor and the creature, but also there's still really no resolution for the creature as he will just continue to live on and have to deal with the violence and horror that is humans. It left me wanting more and I love that honestly. (also the fandom for this movie unanimously calls him Adam which I love, since he's the first of his kind, and i think its mentioned as a name in the book? but I haven't read it either. Also there's sooo much beautiful fanfic being written that it helps me with wanting more after the movie lol) I love that you start out fearing the creature and feeling for Victor during his story but you quickly just want to punch him because he continues the cycle of abuse and turns out exactly like his father. I just want to hug the creature throughout the whole damn movie. I loved the part 1 and part 2, what a cool touch for the movie to get both povs. Something I look forward to most in these reactions is when the creature says "my maker told his tale, then I will tell you mine" and it cuts to "the creatures tale" with that musical score, everyone just gets to hyped! Victor has severe mommy issues (cue the milk) and as others have mentioned Mia Goth played the mom too, and so when Victor meets her he sees his mother in Elizabeth and a weird attraction comes from it. Everyone did an incredible job (major props especially to the costume department!). I've only ever seen Oscar Isaac in more positive\kind roles so seeing him play such a despicable asshole was fun. But Jacob Elordi truly blew me away, having only ever seen him in things like The Kissing Booth and Euphoria, I doubted him and I will never do that again, he was phenomenal! I NEED him to be in more monster movies. The physical and emotional acting with no dialogue through much of the movie was amazing, imo I feel like not a lot of actors have the skills to pull of just strictly physical acting. and also transforming his voice into the creatures is so cool (theres clips of him at panels speaking in the creature voice!). As he learned from the old man you can hear him adopting the old man's accent to form his own. I also love that because he's so tall they didn't have to do any camera trickery or cgi, he's just imposing on his own haha. Andrew Garfield was supposed to be the creature, and as much as I love him as an actor, I don't think he could've pulled it off as beautifully as Jacob did, but it would've been cool to see. If I remember right, Jacob only had like 8-9 weeks to get into character and learn everything before the movie started filming so major props to him. And since you guys have watched behind the scenes stuff for shows, I'm BEGGING you to react to the behind the scenes making of the movie on Netflix (its called Frankenstein: The Anatomy Lesson and is about 45 mins, it's so cool!) Something funny was that girls on Twitter after he gives her the leaf were like "see this is what we want! give us a pretty leaf because you thought we'd like it, its that simple!" lmao. That part is so tender and beautiful, he doesn't have anything to his name but a leaf and gives it to her anyway ughhh. I just want to show him love and affection. I already think Jacob is pretty but mannnn he looks so damn gorgeous as the creature. Anyways sorry I wrote so much, I'm not kidding when I say I fucking LOVE this movie! I'm so so so happy you watched it!! You are both amazing as always!

I am so glad you finally got to this movie. Eventually I need you guys to cover the Penny Dreadful tv series from Showtime. If you want some great gothic horror, that one must be on your list. Especially for Josh Hartnett, Sergio. Also please check out The Bride! on HBOMAX too.

Pam Nail

The captain of the ship that's trapped in the ice is played by Lars Mikkelsen, brother of Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal).

Andrew JT

I'll be honest when i first started this movie when it came out I didn't finish it but I'll watch the whole thing now that you guys are reacting to it.

Sanya Arif

Cinematography is excellent but I was bored during the 2nd hour , had to skip to the last 5minutes

Miss Maya

masterpiece ❤️

Casie

You gotta check out The Bride .... spin off on the bride of Frankenstein.... sooo good.

pumpkindoodles

Victor's father was familiar because he was played by Charles Dance😁 and I agree with Penny Dreadful being a show to think about as a future watch. I've been having a great time rewatching shows and movies with the two of you, some first times too, and that would be a good one.

yomvanhaver

❤️The Terror ❤️ the novel by Dan Simmon is also great.

Victoria

You HAVE to watch Penny Dreadful. Guys! 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

Em Mcbride

Omg awesome! Thank you for the rec ❤️❤️

Del Toro is the best “monster” movie maker in my personal opinion. He created “The Strain”, “The Shape of Water” (Won best picture), The original “HellBoy” and “HellBoy the golden army” and the animated specials “Sword and Storm” and “Blood and Iron”. Every time it’s just beautiful

gemma violet

this might be a silly comment to make considering yall give us your reviews at the end of each commentary, but have yall ever thought of making a letterboxd account? 👀 i know it’s a little weird since there’s two of you so you’d have to like ‘settle’ for a middle ground, but i think it would be so fun to see your ratings for movies and stuff like that. just a thought 😼

ren

S/O to Sergio for being the only person I've seen react to this movie that noticed Paige from Degrassi was the woman in the house the creature stays in for a while! That's unironically one of my favorite things about this movie lmao
