Thank you for the support! You guys and grrls are awesome!

Of all the myriad planets for Dabbler to be familiar with off the top of her head, she knew that Sol 3 was Earth mostly because Cora is human. Terrans are not a huge population in the larger space society, but a few of them have made marks that put humanity on the "Races to Know" list.

It does sound egocentric, but Max is extrapolating that if Hoss knew enough to know about superpowers, then he definitely knew about supers in general, even though people like herself were classified at the time. He told Dabbler to go through a specific gate, knowing it would spit her out in the middle of a multinational conflict that involved supers, and he knew Dabbler's M.O. well enough, then it was a foregone conclusion that would involve herself with the leadership of said conflict quickly.

To paraphrase a Tom Baker Doctor Who episode; Guard, "I'm taking you to the Captain!" The Doctor, "Excellent idea! No messing about with middle management. Straight to the top! I'll lead!"

I might be concatenating several interactions there, but there's a reason Tom Baker was hands down the best Doctor. Dabbler's version might have been more along the lines of, "Take me to your sexiest leader!"

The Cradle of Civilization to me means either Mesopotamia or ancient Egypt, which is a fairly western point of view, as ancient China had a lot going on as well. I'm just reporting my own biases here. Maxima's biases trend toward Mesopotamia, because she was stationed there, and maybe visited Egypt while she was in the area, but was never stationed there. Also she speaks passable... shoot, I can't remember if I said it was Arabic or Farsi. I think it was Arabic.

Oh, and I want to be clear that while Mesopotamia covered areas that are now modern day Iran, and Iraq as well as Syria, Kuwait and Turkey, Max never operated in Iran during Desert Storm 2. Not officially, certainly. She might have flown over their airspace quite a bit, but a human sized object wrapped in a cotton/nylon BDU blend probably doesn't provide a significant radar return.

You have also established aliens masquerading as god of western civilizations before, while it makes sense that might be a bit harder to do in the east thanks to their propensity to just declaring every leader a diety. Or at least less satisfying.

I mean, you say that about the radar return, but Maxima *is* extremely reflective, moves at supersonic speeds, and is approximately the size of... all I'm saying is that I'd be surprised if she never got clocked as a missile.

Fogel

According to that Bill Wurtz video, there were about 5-6 simultaneous cradles of human civilization spread over the globe, each one inventing agriculture independently. At least you had America, China, and a few in the Middle East

Whoriar

Ok.... Is Hoss and Deus buddies, enemies, frennemies or oblivious?.. (or *gasp*, the same person?)

Matthew Paulin

Dabbler's face horns seem inconveniently in the way of things she does with her mouth.

Michael Obert

Seeing Dabbler all blacklit like this makes me think that there must be a velvet portrait of her somewhere on Earth

Tie Toter

Tom Baker IS the best Doctor! No question about it!

Brad Kirkwood

that Manacorn (Uniman?) has very Deus expressions and bodylanguage

Town Crier

Wait!!! Are we about to see the original Max vs. Dabbler fight? *Gathering popcorn, snacks, soda, tissues and lotion.*

"Pumped you full of power. So to speak." Amazing lines lol

John Chidester

I was thinking that after the last comic, then pairing it with that splayed finger steeple there's just no denying it!

Anton Schleef

_**IF**_ I'm remembering my world history classes correctly the oldest known civilizations are from the Mesopotamia area, and predate the Chinese civilization by a millenium or four.

Andrew Diseker

Why does “Big D” look like Deus? (Fry eyes)

That Harper Gal

Hey, the main site appears to be down for me!

Hugh Eckert

Adding in on the "resemblance to Deus noted" thing...

Bob Seay

I don't know why, but i misremembered Dabbler having a tail.

Andrew Diseker

What happened with Max’s forehead?

Jonathan Hamilton

Dude is giving off serious Deus vibes with that finger tent in the next to last panel...
