Thank you for the support! You guys are awesome!

You may be asking, Dave, what the hell is that accent? It's a fair question. It started off as this guy from Robocop 2. But then my brain thought, "But what about King Willie from Predator 2?" That guy didn't just steal the scene, he was arguably the best part of the movie. Note the lack of automatic subtitles in that clip, cause the voice to CC algorithm was too busy cracking up at Willie. "About the one that's doing all the killing, I am." CC Algo was like "I need whatever that dude is smoking." Honestly, Predator 2 was a pretty solid movie. Yes, it had one or two really dumb scenes, but the movie did supply all the AvP games with 90% of the Predator's arsenal.

Anyway, some people in the comments were under the impression that Max's top speed was Mach 5, but I've no idea where that came from. Sydney's top speed was Mach 4, until she bought her speed upgrade on the Alari homeworld. When she got back, she tried to tease Max about maybe being the fastest one of the team. To paraphrase Max's response, "Hmm. Maybe."

I'm not sure what her actual travel time is going to be though. She doesn't have her Stratosphere travel kit on her. Max can actually hold her breath for a very long time - what she's actually doing is using her power pool internally to break up the carbon dioxide and eke out some more O2 time, but it's not efficient, and takes more and more power the longer she does it. So Max will have to watch out for commercial air traffic at times, though she knows especially around cities and costal regions she can climb a dozen kilometers for a few minutes.

I love the fact that the idea of supers are prevalent enough that a fisherman and his son can be near Senegal, see Maxima 'fast Traveling' across the world. Then could possibly infer by their apparent velocity, the amount of baddass/city destroying beatdown. Portending.

Cumulomaximus.

"power pool internally to break up the carbon dioxide and eek out some more O2 time" Does that mean that while she is doing it she is creating internal carbon deposit? If she could "dump" it outside couldn't she reuse O2 forever? Also why twisty clouds? They should "follow" her so is she herself twisting?

Wise man 'dat papa. Listen good to him kid.

BJ

Very wise dad that.

Well said sir, well said. Give that man the award for most likely NOT to get his ass kicked

SR71 operational altitude 85,000 feet [to reduce compression heating on the aircraft which Max probably wouldn't have an issue with], can do NY to London [approximately 5500 miles] in under 2 hours at an average speed of around 1800 MPH. West to East coast US took just over an hour at 2100 mph. Speed record [official, heard rumors it could go faster] 2193 mph. Max doesn't have to take off and land like a Blackbird, she doesn't have to speed up and slow down like one, and she doesn't have to worry about atmospheric compression heating [though one would hope her clothes will hold up...uh oh...might need to stop at her room for a change when she gets back]. Say shes doing Mach 10 [7680 mph: High Hypersonic], it would take about an hour to get from the Central African Republic [just used that as I can't remember where Galytn is in Africa] to Texas [since I couldn't remember where HQ is off the top of my head] And thats if she limits herself to that speed and doesn't do a ballistic arc at reentry velocities that are 2.5 times faster. Yah, shes definitely going to need a change of clothes...hope she didn't wear "fancy" undies...

Eke out, not eek out. Just FYI. (In your commentary, not on the page itself.)

Max is pissed, and on her way to do some hurtin'. Go, Colonel, Go!!

I thought they were some sort of weird were-cthuloid cumulus until I read the comments. They actually looked like two heads to me until they got all twisty, but then, I'm genetically programmed to look for human features whenever I can...

re: "She doesn't have her Stratosphere travel kit on her." But a trip half-way around the world from your home is when it is most likely to be useful! So she really should, at least from now on. Whenever you travel without something like that, you end up wishing you had it.

At that speed, she's not going to get any air in her lungs, so I'm not sure it matters if she's in or out of the atmosphere. Unless she's making regular stops to breathe for a bit before continuing.

Dave, just so you know, King Willie was Jamaican/Rastafarian, not Senegalese. Very, very different accents.

davebarrack

Yeah, it seems the primary language there is French, but who's to say that guy didn't move there for uh, vast fishing opportunities?

I'm going with Papa being a war refugee, and he's seen that type of display before, if not that exaggerated.
