Thank you for the support! You guys are awesome!

Knocking people out in super brawls is usually handled via concussion. Concussions are wildly overused in most media, and in almost every instance, they wildly overestimate how easily people get knocked out. Sure, sometime people in TV shows or whatever get in a car wreck (especially since some stunt guys figured out how to do the T-Bone from within the car shot) and then it cuts on impact, then fades back in, representing time lost to unconsciousness. But most of the time, a goon will take a real bantam weight ding on the jaw and drop like the housing market after decades of deregulation. That's usually the fault of lazy writing, direction and/or stunt work. Not everyone's going to set up a yank line on the person getting clocked to make the hit look severe enough to ring their bell. TV production schedules sometimes just don't have the time for that kind of work when a simple stage punch is fine for 90% of the audience.

I'm sure I'm guilty of it in the comic, but at least when Jiggawatt got laid out, it was after bouncing off a cinderblock wall straight into a clothesline.

But that's why Harem gets hypo duty. Sure, sedatives have their own risks, and might not work against Supers with dense skin or hyper metabolism or their power is that their blood is pure caffeine, but it's probably still safer than cracking everyone on the head with a tube sock full of nickels. I think the reason other super teams don't do it is that it makes for shorter, less dramatic fights. I don't know that I see someone like Wonderman or Thor or Wolverine doing something like that, but I could definitely see The Beast, or... oh, man, could you imagine Iceman doing it? He'd have the hypo in his utility belt which gets encased in ice, then he pulls it out and injects someone? It'd be like getting intravenous brainfreeze.

Anyway, it's an incredibly sensible thing to do, but it assumes you have a sedative that could knock out a 225 lb guy but won't put the 125 lb Super powered female into cardiac arrest. Really, Harem probably has several different hypos that put out different doses, and one of her has to work at a carnival six weekends a year doing the weight guessing schtick for practice. Not that honing that skill on the average American would really be all that helpful when your real targets are muscular Supers who all have about 6% body fat. Maybe there's a carnival near a military base and she practices on Marines or something.

Back in the Eighties, I had a gadgeteer character in a Champions game one of whose more widely useful inventions was a 100% safe "stun ray" gun. Well, directly safe, I couldn't account for things like falling asleep at the wheel of a moving vehicle. And Mid-Teen Lurker didn't think at all about things like corrupt law enforcement or tech falling into criminal hands...

“Why can’t you just break up into one on one fights against your appropriately matched rival? And then don’t interrupt other people’s fights”

Even if one of the local brains can’t come up with a suitable knockout tool, pretty sure dabbler could. Worst case is some handwavium about nanobot regulated dosing.

I can see both Batman and Spiderman using some kind of knockout gas or tranquilizer hypo. Actually, I think Batman has used both in various works featuring him.

really sad how being knocked unconscious is basically the very last defense mechanism the body uses, so any form of knock-out has a high chance of being lethal. actually there's a whole deal with policing and ways to apprehend people without accidentally killing someone as there is no non-lethal weapon, only less lethal. The advent of boxing gloves led to more cases of post match deaths due to changing the meta from doing gut punches until someone cries uncle to chin punches that knock out your opponent.

I figure most of the goons are staying down because they don't want to be hit again. Instead of hitting someone hard enough for a TBI, you just have to hit them hard enough to give up.

Teleportation ruins everything; Suck Hole now knows this. Can't tell you how many DnD Games have been thrown off track because the party can teleport where they want to go, lol.

To be clear, When your noggin gets a bonking hard enough to knock you out for more than a few second, that usually leads to death or brain damage of the potentially permanent kind. There is no on-off switch for humans. The closest we have are tranquilizer/anesthetic, and even those have to be dosed very carefully as they too can easily kill.

If Iceman had a gun, I would have it shoot needle-like slivers of frozen tranq. He wouldn't have to get so close that way.

Your note on the "It'd be like getting intravenous brainfreeze." Man that took me back a ways. Worked at a hospital supply place back in the early 90's. We had always loaded our carts full of supplies in the trucks the night before they went out. Which was fine most of the time... until it was winter, and even in California people were having serious issues nd complaints about the "refrigerated IV's" we had on the carts. Those carts didn't get loaded the same way into the trucks after some notifications to the company.

My very first Table-top Supers chr (1984) was very heavy on Dexterity, but low on Str and Fighting skills. I determined pretty quickly that he had to fight at range or he'd get smeared. So I designed a few pieces of gear. He usually opened up with a set of high-strength mini-bolos to ensnare an opponent, then a tranq-loaded flechette from launchers on his wrists. That was usually good for anybody who was street-level. Later on developed some harder-hitting stuff for heavier-duty supers. I see you've managed to get your shirts off

A tube sock is bad optics with the public anyway. A KO drug is something most of them think is real even in reality.
