Thank you for the support! You guys are awesome!

I wish I had a cleaning cantrip. There's a lot of decent options when it comes to cantrips, but in everyday real life? A little bacon spatter on the stove top? Cleaning cantrip. Inside of the microwave after heating up a bowl of something a little spattery? Cleaning cantrip. The spot behind your monitor getting dusty? Cat hair all over your shirt? Need to squeak one more wear out of your favorite bra? You know it, cleaning cantrip.

Okay, yes. Guidance (+1D4 to ability checks), Control Flames, Gust, Mage Hand, Mending, Prestidigitation, Thaumaturgy, and Vicious Mockery would also be useful, (the last one only if it worked when posting snarky comments online), but Clean really beats them all for everyday use. Yeah, I know Clean isn't a D&D 5e Cantrip, at least it's not on the official list because there's virtually no combat use for it. I don't even know if that's true. An adventuring team a dozen strong all with Clean could definitely piss off a Neo-Otyug. Still, you got to figure there's a ton of cantrips that didn't make the Tome of Arcana cut, like, Tune Instrument, Timer with Audible Alarm, Fit - to make clothes that are like half a size too big or just a little tight under the armpits fit better, Make Wobbly Chair or Table not Wobble, stuff like that. Man, that last on would be nice. It really bothers me when a table in a restaurant is tumping back and forth like you're trying to play Labyrinth with your appetizers.

We're still waiting for the bubble (and text) free versions :)

We get a lot of side-walk dining in Brisbane, so yeah the tables never seem 100% stable. Also after you've escaped from the "grease" spell effect, but are still having a little trouble with the residuals, "clean" would make a nice combat effect. Not to mention if your campaign is only doing combat effects for everything, than your DM needs to learn to storytell. The party having just fought the evil henchman who was planning on a kidnapping from the garden at the social event, finary in slight disaray and mud-stains everywhere (and a little blood) needs to re-enter the hall and pretend nothing has happened, and both guard the primary, and pass a message onto the authorities for a cleanup, all without spooking the visiting hi falutings, for diplomatic reasons. Needs a "clean and freshen up" cantrip in a hurry. (Hmm can we get magical item "shower in a can"? :P

Uh, oh... Parfait's appearance seems to have caused Gwen's fishnets to spontaneously combust ;)

I haven't seen any of the rulebooks for 5e, but now I'm starting to think that 3e (or maybe 3.5e) is still the all-time best version of D&D. Of course, after playing around with the character creation engine in Pathfinder: Kingmaker I think it's better than 3/3.5e D&D, but I'd had hopes that maybe 5e was actually something impressive instead of another Wizards Flop like 4e was. This actually makes me LESS interested in Baldur's Gate 3, since I've heard it uses the 5e rule set (I'd been thinking of getting it in a few months when other, higher interest RPGs slow down their release schedule as a means of learning what 5e brings to the table).

The honey helps keep your hair shirt (or dress) in case of emwrgencies. Now, let's hope Parfait doesn't have to engage in any Bayonetta style shenanigans. . .or that she does!

The prestidigitation cantrip also cleans things, so DnD does have a clean cantrip and Prestidigitation truly is the superior everyman option

Gigifiy

Ahh, the Bayonetta style of clothes. Always a win there

Prestidigitation’s effects include: - You create an instantaneous, harmless sensory effect, such as a shower of sparks, a puff of wind, faint musical notes, or an odd odor. - You instantaneously light or snuff out a candle, a torch, or a small campfire. - > You instantaneously *CLEAN* or soil an object no larger than 1 cubic foot. - You chill, warm, or flavor up to 1 cubic foot of nonliving material for 1 hour. - You make a color, a small mark, or a symbol appear on an object or a surface for 1 hour. - You create a nonmagical trinket or an illusory image that can fit in your hand and that lasts until the end of your next turn.

You know, if you was a member of a species that Can get summoned without warning like that, whether you plan to do work by that method or not, probably a good idea to have some linked storage space like what Dabbler has for her tech, or a pure magical equivalent... Or just a modest bag of the essentials that you have strapped to you literally at all times so that when This happens... you're not stark naked and dependent on your summoner for clothes and base necessities? Granted with that smoke manipulation she's got the bare necessities covered but not much else.

ASPDroid

I mean, yeah, cleaning's useful — but I could already easily clean most things without magic. Personally, I think Guidance making me ~12.5% better at basically everything I do is FAR superior for everyday use.

Also prestidigitation lists cleaning your clothes or a surface in its uses.

She's the Bees' Knees!

Group shower scene! Everyone else covered the D&D angles prettily thoroughly so I focused on the details.

So wait, was there a magical reason we've been in the dark, or does Sydney just have a compulsion for ambient lighting?

IvyReed

Also its adorable that Sydney averts her gaze.
