Thank you for the support! You guys are awesome!

For those of you wondering who CoCoPineapple was, well, here's your answer. In case you don't recall, which is fair since it's been like 850 pages since his last appearance, he's the financial advisor who prevented Sydney from maybe possibly immediately bankrupting herself on rare comic memorabilia. As for the name CoCoPineapple in Arianna's phone, "cocoa" as in chocolate, used here very much as a term of affection, and pineapple, as in a pineapple (Mk 2) grenade, AKA, a frag grenade, AKA, something that produces shrapnel. It's a holdover pet name from college.

That of course doesn't explain why Arianna has herself labeled as "PRHotBlonde" in her own phone. It's possible I thought that the text scroll showed you what the other person used as your handle, but on reflection that's probably not true, since I'm sure some people have unflattering handles in their contact list like "SuperBitchExWife" or "Terrible Kisser Guy in Phillies Jersey who I let get to second base anyway because Tequila is my personal nemesis." I've never messed with that on my own phone so it didn't seem super important honestly. Let's just assume that Aurelius changed her name on her own phone one evening and she thought it was cute.

How Sydney didn't notice Arianna's full name on, for instance, the door to her office, business cards, any press briefings that had one of those info scroll bar thingies at the bottom, or any press releases that got CCed to everyone before release, or any time Arianna introduced herself to someone in a professional setting and presumably used her last name is another matter entirely.

The timing of Arianna texting her hubby to book it to the base and the amount of time Sydney and Parfait seemed to have while they were making out doesn't quite make sense. Unless that makeout session lasted for like 45 minutes or something, and it definitely didn't. For one thing, there's no way a lust-addled succubus is going to be put off for that long, for another, Sydney would be mostly hickey from the waist up. The only way it works out is if when Parfait's lust aura got interrupted, it took like an hour for the effects to attenuate. That means this "emergency assembly" took a really long time to actually assemble, but that's a much better situation than if Parfait's aura just stopped cold, and suddenly a base full of supers snapped back to their fully rational senses mid-thrust like a bucket of ice water got thrown on them. This meeting would have definitely gone differently if that was the case, but apparently Parfait's aura has a long "afterglow tail" on it.

Sidney: "Sorry I summoned a demon on the base. ;-p"

As Max would point out: just because Arianna is married to Aurelius, doesn't mean that she changed her surname to Shrapnel. Nor even that she uses that surname in a professional context — many people who change their name when they get married will still use their old name for work, *especially* if it's a job where networking or "brand recognition" are important.

I prefer to believe her Aura becomes.. self sustaining, once people get past the initial effect... after all... sure it gets you horny, but judging by some of the .. groupings... we see here, I think a Jump Start is all it HAS to provide.

No Arianna, answer the question. Mervyn, really?

Are you sure Sydney's interrogative technique is as focused as a shotgun, and not more like a grenade?

Next time people will be checking into Sydney's claims of official sanction. 'She was there when I got the contact info' and 'I'm opening a back door to Hell in the basement' are not equivalent. At least it didn't work without Gwen to power it so someone with experience was involved, but that card could easily have been a card for an invasion force. There didn't seem to be anything on Sydney's side to indicate that she could sense who she was connecting with. A more experienced demon might even have been able to pull Sydney through to their side. Lots of possible downsides. Fortunately this glaring hole in their security was discovered without stepping on any of the landmines.

It is true, zaniness and national security do not mix well. Neither do shenanigans (be they cruel and tragic or cheeky and fun), hijinks or antics of most varieties. This should be Archon's newest training video, kind of like the old Private SNAFU videos of yesteryear :)

Maybe it's just the perspective, but Anvil looked like a giant in panel two.

Arianna isn't Max RE: feminism, but she doesn't necessarily HAVE to have taken her husband's last name upon marriage... Plenty of professional women choose not to. (Heck my ex wife remarried and kept my last name, for the time being, at least - I assume out of convenience, for licensing? Idunno) But I guess now you have established that she did do take his name, and that Sydney simply didn't notice it for some reason 🤔

Hence the reason for living off base. You don't have to get permission to have family and friends over, and they don't have to go through security screenings every time they want to come over for a visit.

Town Crier

Oh, and Sydney has a good point in the last panel. My guess is that the husband won the child naming contest, and Ariana was too busy being pregnant, or recovering from being pregnant, to do her research on the child's name.

Not registering names? ADHD. 'nuff said.

I thought he was the financial advisor but I needed the link in order to remember how Sydney knew about their son. He may have shown up after the lust aura was muted but still cooling down. I get the feeling that once these people started they wouldn't stop as soon as the aura was shut off and it took a while to get everyone to calm down and assemble, giving him enough time to show up. He then stuck around for his wife.

Sydney's interrogative technique is like a full Anarchy Gaige build from Borderlands 2 that uses a Flakker shotgun with -2% accuracy as a primary weapon.

Dave, just as a note, you made a mistake in the numbering on the official site. This is comic number 1200, but over there it's listed as 1120.

I realize this is primarily a humor comic with superpowers, ergo zany hijinks happen, and I accept that. I just feel the nerdy need to point out that in a military unit, claiming that your superior NCO knew of X when said NCO did not in fact know of X, will lead to serious negative consequences. Sydney should at the least receive an official reprimand on her record and be given ALL the scut jobs for the next few months. Oh, and PT until she pukes.

"Contact info" generally is ways to _contact_ someone. i.e.telephone type stuff (albeit magic, not land-line, in this instance). Using that info to invite someone into a secure facility? Yeah, Sydney is gonna get some fines (the possibility is something that would have to have been written into their contracts (like in the NFL) - otherwise messing with someones pay is a definite no-no.). Because PT is just time and effort (and she needs that anyway, so it would hardly count as punishment). Money, on the other hand, is something that people really notice. Well, most people - maybe not Sydney... re Arianna's hubby - she is on-call 24/7. Perhaps they have a nice apartment on site? Sure they need to vet any visitors, but given her clearance, that would be happening anyway, Really, as soon as whe became the official PR person, she also became an official target. Better to have her living on-site anyway.
